Chuck E. Cheese employee arrested while dressed as mascot, police say
TALLAHASSEE — Wearing the furry mask of the iconic Chuck E. Cheese mascot mouse, an employee of the popular children's birthday destination was arrested for using a stolen credit card at one of the chain's Florida restaurants, police said.
'Chuck E, come with me Chuck E,' a police officer in Tallahassee told the suspect, 'stop resisting, you are being detained.'
The arrest occurred Wednesday, according to the probable cause report from police, while photos from bystanders showed an officer removing the man's rodent mask — with its gray fur, exaggerated ears and perpetual smile — and placing it atop a Tallahassee Police Department vehicle.
The investigation began when a woman called police to report that someone was using her child support Visa debit card, which she hadn't seen since a visit Chuck E. Cheese in late June, police records stated. Charges to the card were made at a smoke shop, grocery store and a Whataburger.
The woman tracked down the suspect by going to the grocery store and viewing surveillance footage from the time her card was used, police records state. She recognized the man from the Chuck E. Cheese.
When police officers arrived at the restaurant, one of them entered first to verify that the suspect was there. He was — and he wasn't wearing the mask. The suspect 'looked very nervous, he gazed at me with wide eyes and squared shoulders in a tensed demeaner,' a police officer later wrote in the probable cause report.
The officer and another officer soon returned to the Chuck E. Cheese, where the suspect had since donned the rodent mask, police records stated. The officers asked another employee if the suspect was in the mouse suit.
'She shook her head up and down indicating yes,' the officer wrote.

Five tractor trucks stolen in town north of Barrie: OPP
Ontario Provincial Police say they're investigating after five commercial tractor trucks were stolen in Midhurst, Ont, a village about 6.5 kilometres from Barrie. A statement from police says the trucks were taken near County Road 27 and Bayfield Street early Thursday morning. The stolen vehicles are described as white unmarked truck tractors. Investigators say the vehicles were last seen proceeding southbound on Bayfield Street, in the City of Barrie, towards Highway 400. Vehicle belonging to police officer crashes into bank in Laval, catches fire
Laval police (SPL) are investigating after a vehicle belonging to a police officer crashed into a bank. (Laval fire department) Laval police (SPL) are investigating after a vehicle belonging to a police officer was driven into a National Bank location and caught fire. Police report that a 911 call at around 1 a.m. prompted officers to the National Bank on Montée du Moulin at Marcel-Villeneuve Avenue. 'The vehicle collided with the west facade of the building and caught fire,' said SPL spokesperson Erika Landry. 'The west facade of the National Bank also subsequently caught fire.' When police and firefighters responded to the scene, there was no one in the vehicle, which police confirmed belongs to a police officer from another jurisdiction. 'Two persons of interest were located a little further away and were met by our officers,' said Landry. 'They were released a short time later.' Landry said she could not confirm that the officer who owns the car was in the vehicle or whether one of the two suspects was a police officer. 'We are attempting to reconstruct the sequence of events,' she said. 'We have taken charge of the investigation, and several checks will be conducted in the coming hours.' The investigation is ongoing.
