Simone Ashley Reveals Her Beauty Secret for When She ‘Can't Be Bothered'

Elle16 hours ago

Simone Ashley has had an eventful few years. Since her breakout role as Kate Sharma in season 2 of Bridgerton in 2022, the actress's career has exploded. This past March, Ashley starred alongside Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the romantic comedy Picture This, where she played a struggling photographer trying to balance her career and her love life. Now, she is switching gears—pun intended—as she prepares for the highly anticipated release of F1, a sports action movie about two Formula 1 drivers, set to release this summer.
Even with such a busy schedule, Ashley manages to show up on every red carpet looking flawless. This year's Cannes Film Festival was no different. She arrived, styled in a white Vivienne Westwood gown, for the premiere of The Mastermind. At the festival, Ashley also acted as a spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris's Lights on Women's Worth Awards, her second year as an ambassador for the program. Below, ELLE caught up with Ashley for a few minutes after her red carpet appearances to talk skin care, Cannes glam, and her go-to beauty rituals.
I exfoliate a few times a week, hydrate, drink lots of water, moisturize, and try not to stress.
A moisturizer!
Actually, I don't really make much of an effort when I'm not working. I can't really be bothered. I just put my sunglasses on.
Exfoliating. That works for me, though. I think everything is personal and subjective for different people. For me personally, it's [exfoliating] and rest.
I am so lucky to have my team here with me. Alex Babsky, my makeup artist, always makes me feel so confident in myself. Stephane [Lancien], who's been doing my hair—he's just amazing.
That was crazy. I have a very small part, but I'm grateful to be in that movie. I got to experience many Grands Prix. I don't think I'll ever do anything like that again.
It's an honor. I feel very proud. At the awards dinner, Viola [Davis] did a speech. I'm so grateful that she's an ambassador for this brand. Though I'm inspired by everyone, seeing Viola made me feel so seen, like I am capable of doing it.

Addison Rae Introduces Herself With Debut Album ‘Addison'

Addison Rae Getty Images for Coachella In just a few short years, Addison Rae has risen from budding TikTok star to pop music's newest 'it' girl. She made a splash on the Billboard Hot 100 last year with 'Diet Pepsi' and returned to the chart for her recent single 'Headphones On." That climb has culminated in Rae's self-titled debut album Addison, out now. Though she's only a few years into her career, Rae projects the confidence of an industry veteran on the album, as evidenced by most recent single 'Fame Is a Gun," proclaiming 'There's no mystery, I'm gonna make it, gonna go down in history / Don't ask too many questions, God gave me the permission / And when you shame me, it makes me want it more.' When reflecting on her journey and where she is now in a recent cover story with Elle, Rae explained that she's reached a place in her career where she's in control of what she does. 'I have the luxury now to say no to things I'm not interested in, or that don't feel like me or aren't reflective of who I am. It's still a job, at the end of the day. Everybody is trying to survive — I'm trying to survive and live here and do all these things that I love — but I definitely have become more intentional, because I do think saying no to things opens up a door for a much better yes,' she said. Still, she isn't resting on her laurels just as she's making her big debut in the pop world. 'What does that even mean, really, to be the pop girl? Let's see if the songs get more popular, then they can call me a pop girl," she mused to Variety. 'This is my shot. I've got to go big.'

I Didn't Have Jonathan Bailey Comparing Wicked To ‘Independence Day' On My Bingo Card, But I Honestly Think It Sounds Intense

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. If you like Bridgerton alum Jonathan Bailey, the 2025 movie schedule is a boon for the senses. Not only will he be showing up in the summer blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth, but he'll of course be returning to the role of the dreamy Fiyero - as we saw in Wicked: For Good's first trailer. Filming Jon M. Chu's adaptation of the Broadway legend was always going to be quite the experience; but I never thought the man would compare it to Roland Emmerich's Independence Day - though it makes total sense. Feel free to agree or disagree, courtesy of Mr. Bailey offering these recollections in a GQ profile: Being slightly off the M1 in Munchkinland, with Ari [that's Ariana Grande to you and I] singing a beautiful mezzo soprano, and then seeing cars pulling up on the hard shoulder trying to record it. And then seeing men in the sky, [which] turned out to be microlights and drones. It was like Independence Day. Ok, so it's not the residents of Munchkinland running from an exploding Empire State Building; but the comparison still stands. Imagining Wicked's award-nominated artistry being staged in a field in England, with all the bells and whistles, must have been exhilarating. Though that big about the drones and microlights may be the kicker, as the right time of day could make those look like something not of this Earth. It certainly sounds akin to watching Independence Day in the '90s, and being blown away by something like Bill Pullman's stirring, title-dependent speech. Only Jonathan Bailey was much closer to the action than a Peacock subscription would get you, and he technically got to watch a free Ariana Grande performance. Either way, there's a potential for fun Jeff Goldblum stories to crop up. Peacock TV: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a yearIf you can't wait until November to rejoicify in the release of Wicked: For Good, a Peacock subscription could have you flying high until then! With access to Wicked, as well as some documentaries and November's upcoming live event, it'd be very hard to bring you down! And all it costs is as little as $7.99 a month, with the option to upgrade to premium ad-free Deal The reaction to the first half of Universal's two-part musical epic certainly made a similar impression to the debut of that 1996 sci-fi disaster epic. With Wicked banking various box office milestones, and even inspiring audiences to sing along (much to the chagrin of some parties), it was a movie truly of the moment. Wicked: For Good isn't due out until November 21st, but don't forget that you can stream Wicked on Peacock. As for Jonathan Bailey, he'll be next seen in Jurassic World Rebirth, which hits theaters on July 2nd - much sooner than what we know about Bridgerton Season 4, which will see him return to Netflix at some point in 2026.
