Why Isiah Pacheco's ADP rising is no fluke

Yahoo Fantasy's Matt Harmon and Justin Boone discuss why managers should expect a bounce back season from Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript I mean, because they're mostly about backups, I'll take the one where we can talk about the starter more, and that's the Pacheco situation, right? I think people were worried that with all the backs that they brought in there, having Kareem Hunt from last year, bringing in Elijah Mitchell, drafting Berard Smith, who has this pass-catching, you know, skill set, that that was going to turn into some like really ugly committee, where I'm not sure that's going to be the case. Like, we're one year removed from Pacheco being a top 15 fantasy. On a per-game basis. Last year, people felt burned, but he was injured. He was not the same player when he came back from that injury. Now it looks like he's healthy. It looks like he is going to be back and scoring a lot of touchdowns, and he very clearly is back in that backfield. Somebody else that I'm more than happy to grab as my RB2, and somebody that I've seen going earlier and earlier here in drafts. So it's interesting, maybe people are catching on to that, but Berard Smith is still a nice, you know, dynasty piece. I'm not so sure he's going to be a guy that you're going to be able to use in fantasy this year because even if Pacheco gets hurt again, that's when you're going to have Kareem Hunt and Elijah Mitchell and these other guys step up. And I still think that Berard Smith would only have like a pass-catching role in the backfield. He's not somebody that's going to step in and take over there. So Pacheco is on the rise, keep him moving up your draft boards. I think he's a guy you could be happy to have as your RB2 this season. Yeah, Pacheco's been the guy that, of that group of, you know, whatever running backs, I've, I've had the highest. I think I need to actually put a bigger gap between him and some of the other players 'cause unlike, all right, well, we gotta figure out the Jets' backfield, or we gotta figure out the Giants back. We got to feel like you're the Steelers backfield. This is the damn Kansas City Chiefs. They're gonna be like a top 5 team in projected points. It really matters who their RB1 is, especially if this doesn't turn into some kind of weird committee. So glad you highlighted that one, that probably should move the needle more than any of the others. Close

How the entire Jaguars backfield can be a fantasy football goldmine

Yahoo Fantasy's Matt Harmon and Justin Boone discuss how Jaguars RBs Tank Bigsby, Travis Etienne and Bhayshul Tuten can all be fantasy contributors. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Uh, in week one of the preseason, Travis Etienne was out there for all the first team work. Essentially. Well, this week, Tank Bigsby was the only Jaguars running back to get touches on the first drive against the Saints. He touched the ball 3 times for 25 yards. Uh, he offered evidence to the kind of the, the popular narrative here. Apparently Tank Bigsby, Boone, uh, we're just getting word of this, does indeed have a pair of human hands. He was able to catch a 19-yard, uh, little catch and run there. People think that Tank Bigsby doesn't have hands, he can't catch passes with his elbows or whatever. So apparently, we're getting evidence now that he can catch a little bit of passes here. One catch for 19 yards. Uh, one catch for 19 yards, but at the same time, we also got some nice runs from Travis Etienne. Basil Tin scored a touchdown as well. He also looked pretty good. So, I, I'm, my analysis on this Jaguars running back situation, Boone, is don't really care how you rank them, don't really care, you know, if you like this guy or that guy. I, and I don't, uh, like the, the, the tweet that we're showing up here right now. I actually don't even agree with at all that, that there is any mirroring to what happened in, in Tampa Bay. I don't really care about any of that. What I care about is you just take one of these guys in your draft, like, take one of them when available cause there is a ceiling here. Yeah, I, I totally agree. I think there's value to taking all of them where they're going, and that might mean like you're taking Travis Etienne and he's on another team in week one or at some point this season, but I still think there's value to taking all of them. I will say on the Bigsby, you know, hand situation, it was a catch that a child could have made, it was a very short little like just, you know, it wasn't, but, but he did catch it and possessed something with it, which might have been the most, you know, impressive thing that he crossed the field and beat a defender around the edge and like made that 19-yard play out of it. So yeah, he can get involved in that way. I still think that Tyton is the guy with the highest ceiling in this backfield. That might sound crazy. I know when Bigsby came out in this game and started doing what he was doing early, people were just like awarding him the job. Well, obviously he's the number one guy. It's over. I'm not so sure about that. I think he's going to be involved, but I think we could definitely. still see a Baal Tin start to work his way in there and carve out a bigger role, very impressive player, very explosive player. If Bigsby is the guy that he needs to overtake, that's almost more exciting to me. Like if Etienne is the guy, like I think he could do some of the things that Tin can do, whereas if Bigsby is the number one back and you're seeing the difference between those guys. Tin to me at some point is going to get a lot of work in that backfield as that explosive option. So yeah, I totally agree with your analysis there. You're taking them all at cost. You're probably going to cash in some value on all of them, no matter how this works out, because I don't know that all three of these guys are going to stay in Jacksonville all season long, and I think this run game, thanks to William Cohen and some of the moves they made, I think it's going to be pretty productive. How likely is a monster fantasy season from Braelon Allen?

Yahoo Fantasy's Matt Harmon and Justin Boone discuss Jets RB Braelon Allen and if he can take over the Jets backfield at some point this season. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript And Bruce Hall was the lead back, and Raylen Allen was out there working with him, and Raylen Allen was the more effective back between the two. Raylen Allen is the one that's been getting all the camp buzz. You have guys like Albert Breer tweeting that everything they're hearing from their sources is that Raylen Allen is in store for a monster year this year, and that what we're seeing in the preseason in terms of his efficiency is showing that he could potentially do that. And then you're wondering, maybe we're doing too much, but you wonder about some of these guys that had the rumors off season that they could be on the trade block. Bruce Hall is one of them. And your question is, is this a scenario where they really like their young 21 year old, you know, 6'1, I think he's 235 pounds, this like tank of a running back that is just maybe coming into his own that has like a little Derrick Henry to his game, potentially maybe. Want to hand the keys over to him, especially if they like Isaiah Davis that much. So you'll wonder, does Bruce Hall get moved, maybe not even before the season, maybe during the season, once, you know, things aren't going great, they move him before the trade deadline. I think there's a lot of ways that this backfield could go, but Raylen Allen to me is one of the spots that I am more than happy to grab him, where he's going in drafts with the potential to give you flex numbers as part of a committee, or to maybe at some point take this over in one of several ways that that could happen. He's a guy that if I'm going like hero RB or zero RB, I just did a draft yesterday where I didn't really plan to do either of those, and I ended up going running backs very late. Raylen Allen was like a must draft at that point because he is one of those guys that could turn into a starter potentially this year or at worst, give me some flex production until I can find somebody else to be a starter for me.
