Spanish rider Marc Marquez maintained his dominance of the sprint races this season by winning the Aragon leg on Saturday for his seventh victory out of the eight raced.
The 32-year-old Ducati rider extended his lead in the overall standings over his younger brother Alex (Ducati-Gresini), who finished second.
Marc leads Alex by 27 points.
Marc Marquez, who has won the Aragon MotoGP six times in 10 appearances, was headed by his brother at the first corner but passed him at the halfway stage and eased home.
'I had a problem at the start,' explained Marc Marquez. 'My plan had been to lead from the start and open up a big lead but for the first three laps I really had to push to get back at Alex.
'When I did get ahead I had to take care of my rear tyre.
'In the end everything went perfectly today.'
Rookie Fermin Aldeguer of Ducati-Gresini finished third to make it an all-Spanish podium.
Both Marquez brothers will start on the front row of the grid in Sunday's MotoGP -- the eighth of 22 Grand Prix -- Marc having taken pole earlier on Saturday.
Italy's Franco Morbidelli (Ducati-VR46), who finished fourth in the sprint, fills the front row places.
Morbidelli's compatriot two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia was the big loser, starting from fourth spot Marc Marquez's team-mate could only finish 12th, and is 84 points adrift of the Spaniard in the standings.
Marquez is seeking to end a three-race losing run, having got off to a blistering start with three wins in the first four MotoGPs.

Liverpool turn down Barca's approach for winger Diaz: Report

PAMedia/dpa London Liverpool have rebuffed an approach by Barcelona for winger Luis Diaz. The Colombia international has been a target for the La Liga champions for some time, although he has also been attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. Only last month Barça's sporting director Deco publicly named Diaz, and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, when talking about their transfer plans. However, the PA news agency understands when the Catalan club made an approach to Liverpool on Wednesday they were told they had no intention of selling. Diaz turned 28 in January and has two years remaining on his current deal but it is believed there are currently no plans to open negotiations on any extension. However, with Darwin Nunez expected to depart this summer and the future of Federico Chiesa in doubt after a frustrating debut season in which he made just 14 appearances, Arne Slot's Premier League-winning forward line already looks like losing two of its members. The arrival of Florian Wirtz, with discussions ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer fee after a recent £109 million ($148.3 million) bid was rejected, will likely offset the impact of that - especially as Nunez and Chiesa contributed just nine goals between them. But it is understood potentially losing a third member of the attack would only be sanctioned if there was a bid which allows Liverpool to significantly improve the team or if the player agitated for a move. Last month Diaz told American-Spanish television channel Telemundo: 'For me, I'd stay however many years it takes.' Liverpool have already recruited Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen to strengthen their right side following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold and are looking to bolster the left with a move for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

Max takes blame for crash with Russell

Max Verstappen has issued a veiled apology for his wild crash with George Russell by admitting it 'was not right and should have not happened.' The four-time Formula One world champion was hit with a 10-second penalty by the stewards for causing a collision with Russell with two laps remaining of Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix. Russell said he felt Verstappen's move was deliberate and accused the Red Bull driver of letting himself down. He also suggested that Verstappen should have been disqualified for the crash.
