Mazda MX-5 Miata Club
This was technical editor Austin Irwin's first year setting timed laps, and his enthusiasm is hard to hide. You might not think of the Mazda Miata as a make-or-break kind of car, but for Irwin, the pressure to set a blazing time was pretty high. The ND3's low curb weight, approachable power, and easy limits made it a great dance partner around the Grand Course configuration. See if you can catch the little giggle the camera picks up just before the three-minute mark.

Rich Ceppos isn't just the director of our hallowed Buyer's Guide—he's also a driver with decades of track-hustling experience. And you can hear that experience in his rundowns; we'll never get tired of listening to him dive deep into the minutiae of braking zones and how to squeeze every tenth out of a car, whether it's brimming with horsepower or not. Stick around for the end of the video, where he digs into the trickiness of the Ioniq 5 N's myriad vehicle settings.
Bentley Continental GT Speed • Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing • Porsche Taycan Turbo GT • Lucid Air Sapphire
Now we're getting to the real spicy stuff. Testing director Dave VanderWerp was supposed to avoid gas cars entirely this year, but due to some last-minute staff kerfuffles, he ended up splitting his time between gas drinkers and EVs. If you've ever wondered about the intricacies inherent in slapping a Bentley around a track as quickly as possible, or how the CT5-V Blackwing's new Precision pack feels in practice, or how to actually get all the power out of the Taycan Turbo GT, your answers lie in the video above.
Mercedes-AMG GT63 • McLaren Artura Spider • Lamborghini Revuelto • Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Manthey Racing
The trick to getting Dave Beard to set a blistering lap time is simple: Tell him there's a grilled cheese in it for him at the end. Even if there isn't, he'll still make the magic happen, despite staring down some of the most menacing metal at VIR this past year. Dive in and find out why the Lamborghini Revuelto's insane power delivery turned the front straightaway into a whole nother corner.
Ford Performance F-150 Lightning SuperTruck
Pickup trucks come to Lightning Lap to do anything other than set lap times. But not the Ford Performance F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. Riding atop four electric motors making 2200 horsepower is a feat for no mere mortal. Thankfully, Romain Dumas is no mere mortal. The French racing driver joins us to discuss the truck and the utterly bewildering lap time he set with it. We're still trying to wrap our brains around it.

Would You Pay $158,000 For a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing?
General Motors is launching its new Curated by Cadillac vehicle customization program on the CT5-V Blackwing, opening up more than 160 colors and a whole bunch of swanky interior materials to the company's fire-breathing performance sedan. The good news? Buyers can now work with individual Cadillac designers to customize a CT5-V Blackwing to new heights. The bad news? It'll cost you $158,000 — nearly $60,000 more than the base price of a CT5-V Blackwing — and that doesn't include desirable performance or tech options. The Curated by Cadillac program builds on lessons learned from the brand's Celestiq EV — a $300,000 flagship that hopes to put Cadillac in the same conversations as Bentley and Rolls-Royce. For the CT5-V Blackwing, buyers work with their dealer and a Cadillac Concierge to discuss the variety of colors and materials on offer, designing a bespoke sedan that's then hand-built at the company's Artisan Center in Warren, Michigan. We have no doubt that the Curated experience will result in some seriously stunning Blackwings, but this all begs the question: Is it worth it?

2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed For Sale With Just 14,000 Miles
2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed For Sale With Just 14,000 Miles originally appeared on Autoblog. Bentley's flagship from a bygone era Few cars can mesh top-level opulence with speed quite like Bentley. The British automaker's hand-built flagships leave nothing to be desired, and the 2010-generation Bentley Mulsanne was referred to as "The Grand Bentley" for a reason. If you wanted your grandeur with a side of ludicrous speed, the aptly named Bentley Mulsanne Speed was released in 2014. A 2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed is for sale on Exotic Car Trader, and you can check out the listing by clicking here. The Mulsanne was as curvy and limousine-like as one could get at the time. With a rather interesting quad headlight arrangement and upward-sweeping taillights, it stood out as a unique offering in Bentley's lineup. Under the hood was a turbocharged 6¾-liter V8 engine mated to an 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic transmission. As one would expect from a hand-built creation of this nature, the standard features list was extensive and included 20-inch wheels, air suspension, soft-close doors and trunk, keyless entry and ignition, a sunroof, parking sensors, four-zone automatic climate control, heated 14-way power-adjustable front seats, eight-way adjustable rear seats, power rear-window privacy glass, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 14-speaker stereo. Thinking about selling your car? Get a value estimate and list it online with Exotic Car Trader. Click here to learn more. The Bentley Mulsanne Speed took an already perfect formula and did the unthinkable The Speed variant took all of those features and somehow managed to create an even more impressive package. The 6¾-liter V8 engine now made 530 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque, compared to the standard Mulsanne's 505 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque. Its 0-60 mph time also decreased to 4.8 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the standard Mulsanne, while the top speed increased to 190 mph from 184 mph. Fuel efficiency was also increased by 13%, an ironic addition in a performance-focused variant, thanks to a redesigned combustion system. Other Speed-exclusive features included a Sports suspension mode, a dark tint for the stainless steel grille, different headlights, a more unique taillight design that Bentley called a "floating ellipse," and a twin exhaust. New colored stitch lines took over the cabin's look, while a 60 GB onboard hard drive, electrically-operated tables with recesses and connections for iPads, and a Wi-Fi hotspot rounded out the technological additions. View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article This particular 2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed is finished in a rather sleek and elite-looking shade of Volcanic Black over a matching dark Beluga leather interior with ample rich wood veneer and polished chrome carefully placed throughout. Apart from benefiting from the desirable Speed package, this hand-built beauty also sports the "Naim for Bentley" premium audio system, as well as the "Hidden Delights by Mulliner" package, which finished certain surfaces in a customer-chosen color, in this case a shade of red called "Hotspur." Final thoughts Putting aside the rather uninspiring color on this example, owning a Bentley Mulsanne Speed puts you in a higher tier of automotive enthusiasm. Not only are you driving around the vehicular equivalent of Buckingham Palace, but you're doing so while being able to hit 190 mph at will. With less than 14,000 miles on the odometer, the $110,000 asking price seems like a relative bargain considering its original MSRP of $300,000+. Just thinking of that 6¾-liter V8 engine roaring while sitting in that heated seat makes me drool. 2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed For Sale With Just 14,000 Miles first appeared on Autoblog on Aug 11, 2025 This story was originally reported by Autoblog on Aug 11, 2025, where it first appeared.
