"There's not one particular closer right now," Roberts added, per Steve Webb of Dodgers Beat. "I think I've shown that — using different guys in leverage and finishing games like that. ... There are a few guys that I feel comfortable finishing a game with."
Roberts made it clear that he's still comfortable with Scott on Tuesday, when he sent him back to the mound in another 10th inning situation against the Mets. That time, Scott rewarded his manager's trust by logging two strikeouts and a ground ball out in 10 pitches to end the game and seal the win.
But even after that bounceback performance, Scott would be hard to trust in a high-leverage playoff situation. The Dodgers can hope another option emerges from deeper in the bullpen, via the injured list or at the trade deadline, though it's not too late for their $72 million acquisition to regain a solid grasp on the role.
