Actor Jackie Chan was honoured with Locarno's career achievement award, the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera, at the ongoing Locarno Film Festival 2025, reported Variety.
At the Swiss fest, the actor opened up about his early days in showbiz and reenacted his role in Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon.
Chan played a small part in the film. In the past, he admitted Lee accidentally hit him with a stick during a scene, but that didn't stop him from completing the take.
"I'm no Superman. I am scared. Before a stunt, I go: 'Am I going to die this time?" Jackie Chan was quoted as saying by Variety.
The actor also talked about how he developed an interest in martial arts.
"I was lazy, naughty, I didn't want to study, that's why my father sent me to martial arts school. I liked fighting when I was young. Later, he asked: 'Did you like the school?' Yes, very much. I could kick the teacher, punch someone, whatever I wanted," he joked.
Variety reported that Chan started out as a stuntman, appearing in Lee's Fist of Fury, before eventually transitioning into acting following some childhood experiences on set.
The actor also admitted that he never wanted to limit himself to just acting. Ambitious, Chan revealed that he wanted to learn filmmaking from scratch.
"I do everything myself. Now, I tell filmmakers: 'If you only learn how to direct, that's not good enough'," said Chan.
The actor's directorial projects include Police Story, Police Story 2, The Fearless Hyena, The Young Master and others.
While honouring Chan with the achievement award, artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro said, "He reinvented, literally, what an action film is. There is before Jackie Chan and there's after."
Accepting the award, Chan recalled a conversation he had with his father, back when he asked him: "I'm 60. Can you still fight when you're 60?" Chan replied: "I didn't know what to say [to him]. But now I'm 71 and I still can fight."
Chan was recently seen in the film Karate Kid Legends, which starred Ben Wang in the lead role. It was the sixth film in the Karate Kid franchise.

Revealed: Georgina Rodríguez's oval diamond engagement ring's value in dirhams

After eight years together, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially headed down the aisle — and the engagement ring is every bit as dazzling as fans imagined. On August 11, 2025, Rodríguez confirmed the news on Instagram with a close-up shot of her left hand sporting a massive oval-cut diamond. Her caption, translated from Spanish, read: "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives." While the couple has yet to reveal official details, jewellery expert Benjamin Khordipour of Estate Diamond Jewelry estimates the stone to be a 22-carat oval diamond, graded H color with VS1 clarity. "The mounting is set in platinum and two ovals weighing two carats each," he told Brides magazine. "The price of this ring is $1,200,000." The staggering amount estimates to Dh4,407,582. It's a fitting choice for one of the world's greatest athletes of all time. The couple has been open about their relationship journey in Rodríguez's Netflix series I Am Georgina. In one episode, friends teased her about when Ronaldo would propose, even singing Jennifer Lopez's 'The Ring or When' at her. Ronaldo, meanwhile, hinted he was waiting for 'that click' before making it official. 'It could be in a year, it could be in six months, or it could be in a month,' he said. 'I'm 1000 percent sure that it'll happen.'

How Chanel's ‘Pirate' Became The A-List's Cult Shade Of Red Lipstick

This is the lipstick beauty editors keep stashed in their handbags, the one make-up artists pull out backstage as a two-second failsafe and the one your effortlessly chic friend swears by… In the endless sea of red lipsticks, the fiery oranges, cherry reds, the 'almost but not quite right' shades, there's one that sets itself apart. Chanel's Rouge Allure 'Pirate' isn't just another red in a line-up, it's the red. The one that gets borrowed and never returned. The one you put on before a night out and instantly feel like the most confident version of yourself. While Pirate was launched as part of Chanel's Rogue Allure line in the early 2000s, its heritage runs much deeper – back to Coco Chanel's own love affair with red lipstick. For Coco Chanel, red lipstick was never just a simple pick-me-up, it was a symbol of power, passion, and polish, all in one swipe. She was famously quoted, 'If you're sad, add more lipstick and attack.' Over the years, this particularly bold shade of red found its way into the make-up bags of style icons like Keira Knightley, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Lupita Nyong'o, who have deftly proved that it can suit any skin tone. If they weren't proof enough, Pirate is also one of Taylor Swift's most trusted on-tour companions, which she tag teams with MAC's equally iconic shade, Ruby Woo. The secret to its success? Too often, red picks sides – either too warm and tomato-y, or too cool and fuchsia leaning. Pirate sits perfectly in the middle, a rich classic crimson with just enough of a blue undertone to enhance your complexion and make your smile look brighter. It doesn't overpower your face, it complements it. Its following is the kind that major maisons dream of – unwavering and completely unshaken by passing trends. This is the lipstick beauty editors keep stashed in their handbags, the one make-up artists pull out backstage as a two-second failsafe, and the one your effortlessly chic friend swears by. Even better, there is a nail polish to match. View this post on Instagram A post shared by CHANEL BEAUTY (@ Part of its magic is the formula. Rouge Allure has this satin finish that strikes the perfect balance – not the kind of matte that leaves your lips parched, not slippery gloss. It's comfortable, lightweight, and wears down to a flattering stain rather than an awkward ring around your lips. You forget you're even wearing it until someone stops you to ask, 'Which red is that?' You don't need a drawer full of reds. You just need this one.

Saudi Film Commission opens submissions for Kingdom's first-ever Oscar entry

The process was previously handled through direct nominations by the commission based on its own criteria. The Saudi Film Commission has announced an open call for local filmmakers to submit their works for consideration as the Kingdom's official entry to the 98th Academy Awards in the International Feature Film category, marking a historic first for Saudi cinema. Until now, the process was handled through direct nominations made by the commission based on internal criteria. In a shift towards greater inclusivity and transparency, the commission has outlined the rules and procedures for this year's selection, including the formation of a nomination committee, eligibility guidelines and submission requirements. To qualify, films must have had their first theatrical release in Saudi Arabia between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, with a commercial run of at least one week. The newly established nomination committee will consist of independent industry professionals and experts who will assess eligible works under Academy guidelines to ensure fairness and impartiality before casting their votes. The initiative aims to boost Saudi Arabia's global cinematic presence and strengthen its position within the international film industry. In parallel with this milestone, the commission is also participating in the Locarno Film Festival, running from August 6 to 16, 2025, in Switzerland. Renowned for its focus on experimental and arthouse cinema as well as debut works from emerging directors, Locarno provides a platform for Saudi filmmakers to connect with European and global audiences.
