Stretch of Roshnara Road to remain shut for DMRC's work

New Delhi: Roshnara Road has remained closed to traffic, between Burf Khana and Kunji Lassi Wala, from 10.30pm on Aug 1 and will remain so until DMRC's work at Pul Bangash metro station gets over.
The closure is for using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at the site.
Delhi Traffic Police has planned out diversions for heavy and commercial vehicles, four-wheelers and DTC buses. The diversion point is Burf Khana Chowk. Lala Jagannath Marg is the alternative route. Two specific alternative DTC bus routes towards Shakti Nagar Chowk have also been announced. These will pass through Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Marg, Malka Ganj Chowk, Ramjas College, Ghanta Ghar and TT Park, depending on the route taken.

Before this, the highest passenger journeys recorded by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) were 78.7 lakh on Nov 18, which was the second most polluted day ever, with an air quality index of 494. "To meet Rakshabandhan travel demand, DMRC ran 92 additional trips on Aug 8 and operated 455 extra trips on Aug 9 for passenger convenience," said a DMRC official. Delhi Metro usually records a higher number of passengers around Rakshabandhan. Last year, Delhi Metro also created a record on Aug 25 with 77.5 lakh passenger journeys, a day after Rakshabandhan.
