Detroit Pistons add ex-Michigan basketball marksman Duncan Robinson
The Pistons agreed to a sign-and-trade with the Miami Heat on Tuesday, July 1, acquiring Duncan Robinson, who will sign a three-year, $48 million deal according to ESPN. In return, they're sending forward Simone Fontecchio to the Heat.

The move comes after the Pistons agreed to a two-year, $29 million deal with former Michigan standout Caris LeVert on June 30.

Robinson, a 6-foot-7 wing, was an unrestricted free agent after posting 11 points and 2.4 assists on 43.7% shooting last season, hitting 39.3% on 3-pointers. That was slightly below his career 3-point average of 39.7%, achieved while averaging 11.3 points a game over his seven-year career with the Heat.
His college career started at Division III Williams College before transferring to Michigan prior to his sophomore season. With the Wolverines, Robinson appeared in 115 games over three seasons, becoming a key part of the Wolverines' run to the 2018 national championship game in his final year with U-M.

Robinson averaged 9.3 points a game while hitting at a 41.9% clip from 3 during his Division I career but went undrafted. After the draft, he signed a two-way contract with the Heat.

The Pistons desperately needed outside spacing after being forced to move on from unrestricted free agent Malik Beasley, who is in the midst of a federal probe due to gambling allegations.

The WNBA's 3-Point Contest is back on for this Friday and some of the usual suspects such as Sabrina Ionescu and Kelsey Plum are already on the lineup. But what about Caitlin Clark? Advertisement Don't worry Clark fans. She'll be there too. On Tuesday, the WNBA announced its lineup for the 3-Point Contest. As we've already said, Clark will be representing the Indiana Fever in the contest. But she'll face stiff competition. Ionescu will be vying for the second 3-Point Contest title of her career, while Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream hopes to retain her title from last year. Plum is back in the contest after missing 2024, while rookie Sonia Citron of the Washington Mystics tries to add to her All-Star momentum by going 1-for-1 in 3-Point Contests. But Clark will also have her eye on the 3-Point prize. Unlike Citron, who was still in college last year, Clark declined the 3-Point Contest invite last year to focus on the game itself. The decision worked well enough for Clark as she joined forces with arch-rival Angel Reese to take down the Team USA basketball squad that snubbed her from the Olympic team. This year, Clark will be the captain of an All-Star team coached by New York's Sandy Brondello and with her teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell on her side.
