Scary scene! Shubman Gill takes nasty blow to the head, Rishabh Pant's reaction goes viral
NEW DELHI: Tension gripped the Indian camp when captain
Shubman Gill
was struck hard on the head while fielding at first slip during Day 3 of the second Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Friday.
The incident occurred during Ravindra Jadeja's over, when Harry Brook unleashed a powerful drive off one of his deliveries. The ball flew off the bat with pace, giving Gill very little time to react — and struck him on top of the head.

Gill appeared to be in pain. He showed his head to
Rishabh Pant
and then signalled for the physio.
The physio rushed out to assess him, provided some treatment, and thankfully, Gill looked better and resumed fielding shortly after.
WATCH:
Earlier in the match, Gill had been full of emotion after receiving a heartfelt message from his parents following his career-best 269.
The 25-year-old made history by becoming the first Indian captain to score a double hundred in England, and the first Indian batter to hit a double ton in Tests outside Asia since
Virat Kohli
's 200 in 2016.
India vs England 2nd Test: Shubman Gill's 269, Ravindra Jadeja's class light up Edgbaston
His monumental knock not only broke Kohli's record of 254* for the highest score by an Indian Test captain, but also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's 241* as the highest by an Indian batter in a Test outside Asia.
After the day's play, the BCCI shared a video in which Gill was seen listening to voice messages from his parents. The emotional moment clearly meant a lot to him.
'Means a lot coming from him,' Gill said. 'Growing up, I played all of my cricket for my dad. It was because of him I started playing cricket. He and my best friend, whom I practised with, are the only two people I care about and listen to when it comes to cricket. But he also said I missed my triple century.'
Gill's knock helped India post a mammoth 587 — their highest Test total in England in 18 years.

NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers could sign $109,000,002 Golden State Warriors big man to form power trio with LeBron James and Luka Doncic and improve championship odds
Austin Reaves vs the Pacers (Image via Getty) The Los Angeles Lakers remain active in trade discussions as they look to strengthen their roster around superstar LeBron James and Luka Dončić. One name that keeps surfacing in rumors is Miami Heat superstar Andrew Wiggins. However, acquiring him won't come cheap. Heat's Steep Asking Price for Wiggins According to Lakers reporter Jovan Buha, the Miami Heat have set a high price tag for Wiggins in potential trade talks. "The Miami Heat are reportedly seeking a first-round pick, Dalton Knecht, and Rui Hachimura from the Los Angeles Lakers in trade talks centered around Andrew Wiggins." (H/t: Sporting News) This demand reflects Wiggins' value as a proven two-way player who has excelled in a championship system. Breaking Down the Proposed Trade Package Andrew Wiggins (Image via Getty) What Lakers Give Up What Lakers Get 1st-round pick Andrew Wiggins Dalton Knecht (rookie) Rui Hachimura Why Andrew Wiggins Makes Sense for the Los Angeles Lakers Andrew Wiggins has already shown he can thrive as a secondary option, playing a crucial role in the Golden State Warriors' 2022 championship run. His strengths include: - Elite perimeter defense - Reliable scoring (18+ PPG in multiple seasons) - Championship experience - A reasonable contract with a player option after next season Comparing Wiggins to Hachimura While Rui Hachimura has been a solid contributor, Wiggins is an upgrade in several key areas: - Defense: Wiggins is a far more versatile and impactful defender. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 새로 나온 '실손보험' 최적가 가입추천! Edmonton Oilers' interest in Carter Hart sends disturbing message to sexual assault survivors
Oilers are reportedly considering signing Carter Hart (Getty Images) The Edmonton Oilers' goaltending situation has come under sharp scrutiny after back-to-back Stanley Cup Final appearances ended in disappointment. Now, in a bold and controversial twist, the Oilers are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Carter Hart—pending major legal and league developments. Legal cloud over Carter Hart 's future complicates Oilers' interest NHL insider Kevin Weekes has hinted that there is 'mutual interest' between Hart and the Oilers, despite the shadow of the 2018 Hockey Canada sexual assault investigation still looming over the young goalie's future. While Hart hasn't played in the NHL since stepping away in 2024, he remains a high-upside netminder with untapped potential—if cleared to return. Hart is one of five players currently facing accusations in connection with the 2018 Hockey Canada sexual assault case. His future in the NHL will depend entirely on the outcome of the trial and any disciplinary measures the league may impose. For the Oilers, who already faced backlash for hiring Stan Bowman—linked to the Chicago Blackhawks' Kyle Beach scandal—adding Hart would risk igniting another public relations firestorm. As one columnist put it: 'It is nothing short of a PR nightmare if the Oilers consider signing him.' Still, the potential fit is undeniable from a hockey standpoint. Hart, an Edmonton native and longtime friend of current Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, could theoretically help shore up the team's goaltending woes. In his last NHL season, Hart posted a respectable 2.80 GAA and .906 save percentage in 25 starts for the Flyers. Over his career, he's played 227 games with a .906 SV%—solid numbers for a 25-year-old with room to grow. President of hockey operations Stan Bowman has publicly identified goaltending and forward depth as key areas needing improvement. With the team aiming to get 'faster and younger,' Hart checks both boxes—on paper. But given the gravity of the allegations surrounding him, even speculation of his signing is polarizing the fanbase. Also Read: Who is Carter Hart? The Canadian hockey star accused in the Hockey Canada sexual assault scandal For now, it's all speculation. But if Hart is cleared legally, and if the Oilers are willing to weather the backlash, this potential move could become the most controversial transaction of the 2025 offseason.
