Bollywood has seen various superstars who, without any doubt, left a lasting impact on the audience. Similarly, there is one actress who became famous for her name, which apparently turned into a haircut. If this doesn't ring a bell, then let us tell you — we are talking about none other than the late actress Sadhana.
Sadhana was one of those actresses whose pictures were displayed at many barber shops and beauty parlours — why? Because of the haircut people requested, which eventually was named after the actress.
Born in Karachi on September 2, 1941, Anjali Shivdasani, popularly known as Sadhana, moved to Bombay with her family at the age of 7 during the Partition of India. Sadhana was born into a family of actors.
Sadhana's father was the elder brother of actor Hari Shivdasani (actress Babita's father). She is the aunt of Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. During her college days, Sadhana's family faced financial troubles.
Sadhana always knew she wanted to be an actress. Her inspiration was Nutan, and she was also a big fan of Dev Anand. As a teenager, Sadhana appeared as an extra in the chorus group and danced alongside Raj Kapoor in the song Mur Mur Ke Na Dekh, Mur Mur Ke from Shree 420 (1955). Paid Rs 1 for a Film
Did you know that Sadhana was paid only Rs 1 for a film? Yes, when she was 15, she was approached by producers who cast her in India's first Sindhi film titled Abaana (1958), and for that, she was paid Rs 1. Sadhana's Retirement and Death
Sadhana fell in love with Simla director Ram Krishna Nayyar. The duo were together until Ram passed away in 1995 due to asthma. In the late 1960s, Sadhana developed thyroid-related health issues, for which she underwent treatment in Boston. She later retired in 1974.
If reports are to be believed, Sadhana suffered from eye problems due to hyperthyroidism.
In her final years, Sadhana battled illness and had to undergo emergency surgery for a bleeding oral lesion. She passed away on December 25, 2015, at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai after being admitted with a high fever. Tragically, Bollywood's beloved Mystery Girl died a lonely death.

Vishal Dadlani admits he and Shekhar Ravjiani increase their performance fee by 25% when friends and family ask for discount: ‘We charge what we rightfully deserve'

Music composer duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani recently appeared on Netflix's comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show, where they spoke about completing 25 years in the Hindi film industry. During their interaction with host Kapil Sharma on The Great Indian Kapil Show, the comedian asked them whether their relationship has become more like that of a husband and wife as they have spent so many years together. Vishal replied, 'Mujhe biwiyon ka pata nahi hai, aap log dekh lo (I don't know about wives). Mein azaad hu (I am free). It is Independence Day and I am celebrating my freedom.' For the unversed, Vishal was married to Priyali. They got married in 1999, but their relationship didn't last and they parted aways in 2017. However, Vishal Dadlani admitted that if some conflict happens between him and Shekhar Ravjiani, it is mostly because of him as he is the hot-tempered one. He said, 'Mostly it is my mistake, I am a little short tempered, so most of the times its my mistake, I say things without thinking.' Kapil chimed in that 'he doesn't just say in the room, he says it on Twitter.' Kapil Sharma then asked who plays the bad cop and good cop when people request them to give a discount for performing live shows. In this case, Vishal admitted that they both are bad cops as they fight for their rights. He said, 'Honestly, we both are bad cops. We charge what we rightfully deserve. So, we have agreed that that when some friends or family ask for discount, so we tell them a 25 percent higher price than our normal charges. Because as good friends they are expected to pay up.' Shekhar Ravjiani admitted that they 'have a good combination, he is a Sindhi, I am a Kutchi.'

Vyjayanthimala was ready to quit movies at 35, but people from the industry didn't accept her decision: ‘The offers kept coming'

For the most part, Bollywood is a world few ever leave willingly. Many who enter continue working until their last breath or until they slip to the bottom of the call sheet. Yet, there are rare exceptions, and one of the most striking is actor Vyjayanthimala. Born into a traditional family in Chennai, she stepped into films, matched the best in the business at their own game, and then chose to walk away long before anyone could catch up. In a recent interview, Vyjayanthimala discussed the events leading up to her exit from the film industry and how she wasn't planning to wait for anyone's permission to leave. In an interview with ETimes, Vyjayanthimala was asked how she feels when she looks back at her time in films. She replied that God has been very kind to her throughout her life and that she feels fortunate to still enjoy good health. The actor added that she has no regrets about her career, and believes her early exit was shaped by several factors, one being that she began working at a very young age. Vyjayanthimala made her debut at just 16 with the Tamil film Vaazhkai in 1949. The actor said that by the time she was 35, she was ready to move on and start a family. It was also Vyjayanthimala's final film. The actor admitted that few in the industry were willing to believe or accept her decision to step away. Yet, despite the disbelief, she was determined to leave, having already made up her mind to marry Dr. Chamanlal Bali, the Kapoor family's physician. Vyjayanthimala revealed that their bond grew stronger through a shared passion for golf, which ultimately brought them closer together. Vyjayanthimala also listed some films that she feels were the highlight of her career, such as B. R. Chopra's Sadhana, Raj Kapoor's Sangam, Bimal Roy's Madhumati, Lekh Tandon's Amrapali, Vijay Anand's Jewel Thief, and of course, Dilip Kumar and Nitin Bose's Ganga Jumna. The classical dancer-turned-actor admitted that while she cherished every moment of her acting career, she has no regrets about leaving when she did and never dwells on what might have been.
