Mercedes-Benz's performance car division AMG appears to be working on a new sleek super sedan that will challenge the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. Mercedes-AMG has teased the new car, which looks like a redesigned four-door GT. The teaser image hints that the model will debut soon, and it will come with a stylish new design as well as a high-tech electric powertrain.
The German luxury car manufacturer has not said much about the upcoming electric performance car, but hinted that something big is coming in June 2025. The message was accompanied by a dark teaser image hinting at a stylish sports car with a protruding nose section and prominent headlights. It also comes with a rakish windscreen that flows into a roofline that continues almost all the way to the end of the car. The muscular rear haunches and a large greenhouse panel, too, can be figured out from the teaser image. Soon after the teaser became public, this has fuelled speculations among the automotive enthusiasts about the possible launch of a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door EV.

The sports EV is slated to enter production later this year, and Mercedes-AMG has previously confirmed that it will come underpinned by a platform, which the company dubs as the first dedicated electric vehicle architecture developed by the brand. Christened AMG Electric Architecture or AMG.EA, the platform, claims to make the upcoming electric performance car a technological trailblazer, which will pioneer a number of new innovations.
Design, feature, technology and specification details of the upcoming car are few and far between, but the upcoming Porsche Taycan challenger is slated to come equipped with a high-performance battery pack as well as axial-flux motors. The EV was previewed by the Vision AMG concept earlier. It could come promising around 1,000 bhp maximum power on tap.

UniCredit's Orcel Rules Out Commerzbank Bid at Current Price

(Bloomberg) -- UniCredit SpA Chief Executive Officer Andrea Orcel effectively ruled out making an offer for Commerzbank AG at the current price, saying such a move wouldn't add value after a rally in the stock. 'We are far away' from a takeover offer, Orcel said in an interview with CNBC on Wednesday. 'Secondly, in our opinion, the share price has gone well beyond the fundamentals.' Orcel said previously that he may wait until 2027 before deciding on an all-out takeover offer, after a rally in the stock made a potential deal more expensive and the German government expressed opposition. Shares of Commerzbank have more than doubled in value since UniCredit first unveiled that it had built a major stake, as the smaller rival boosted payouts to investors in an effort to defend itself. While the higher Commerzbank share price translate into a financial gain for UniCredit, Orcel has said he needs to be convinced that the rally is justified before deciding on a strategic transaction. 'There is a lot of activity which is directed at keeping the share price' high, the CEO said in the interview. 'But we are patient, because that activity eventually will run into losses.' Orcel Delays Commerzbank Decision Further as Obstacles Mount Orcel separately told at a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. conference on Wednesday that he expects to have all required authorizations by the end of this month to convert the derivatives he used to build part of the Commerzbank stake into shares. That would give UniCredit close to 30% of the German lender. 'We'll see if we consolidate the 30%,' Orcel said at the conference. If UniCredit decides to do so, 'that 30% stake comes with rights and influence.' He said UniCredit had earned the right to be patient with its stake and take its time, but cautioned that a continued stalemate wasn't in the interest of either side. 'If no one wants to talk, then we are going to have a situation where we are stalling for a long period of time, and I don't think that is in the best interest of Germany, in the best interest of Commerzbank, and not for us,' Orcel said. EIB to Channel Defense Funding Via Deutsche Bank to Push Lending

(Bloomberg) -- The European Union's lending arm will partner with large European lenders including Deutsche Bank AG to provide €3 billion ($3.4 billion) in funding for defense, overcoming reluctance in the sector to participate in the region's rearmament. The European Investment Bank reached an agreement with the German bank to provide €500 million liquidity to small and medium-sized enterprises in the defense and security sector, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity. A second agreement with France's BPCE is expected as early as next week, the person said. The EU has been ratcheting up its military capabilities as member states grow increasingly concerned about Russian aggression and a wavering US commitment to the region's security. The bloc set up a €150 billion instrument to provide cheap loans to national governments and eased fiscal oversight to facilitate military financing. The EIB, the world's largest multilateral bank, has gradually opened its gates to financing the defense industry after years of avoiding the sector over concerns about the impact on its rating and rules pertaining to environmental and social investments. The EIB's resources allocated to defense and security still amount to €2 billion planned initially for this year against a balance sheet of about €600 billion. Weapons and ammunition remain out of the lender's scope. An EIB spokesperson declined to comment. The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, has been pushing for the EIB to ease its restrictions to fund defense projects, supporting a greater role for European banks. But regional lenders, the main source of financing for companies over capital markets, are only wading into a sector they had considered unattractive until recently. Banks also faced difficulties financing companies in the sector because of strict rules. Lenders including Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas SA, UniCredit SpA, Intesa Sanpaolo SpA, ING Groep NV and Cooperatieve Rabobank UA formed a task force to explore ways to address regulatory hurdles, Bloomberg has reported. The commission is expected to come forward with a proposal this month to address various impediments confronted by the defense industry, including financing. Defense executives and NATO officials alike have long been asking for the EIB's rules on defense investments to be relaxed. More stories like this are available on
