Jason Manford hits out at hotel's 'ridiculous policy' after having to share room

Comedian Jason Manford hits out at a Bournemouth hotel for selling his room to another guest after he arrived 'late'
Jason Manford hit out at a hotel's 'ridiculous policy' after he had to share a room with a friend because it was overbooked. The comedian, 44, was in Bournemouth on Saturday before his A Manford All Seasons show but the staff at the hotel told him the place was overbooked for the night.
Staff at the Village Hotel told Jason his room was sold to someone else as he arrived late. Because of the issue, he was forced to share a room with his friend Steve. "So we got to our hotel tonight in Bournemouth and it's fully booked. We were like, 'Fine, that's good - well done you'," he said.

"They went, 'No, no, as in like without you'. So me and Steve, obviously [we're] in separate rooms. And then we just discovered that basically if it's fully booked it means that, [you have to share].
"Okay, don't worry, it is what it is, these things happen - all that b******t! I mean we spent all day together! Oh, well, at least we've got a nice view of the car park. Oh well, these things happen and all that. Worse things happen at sea. But Village Hotel, just beware, if you are booking and it's a busy day in a busy city...
"I mean, we're lucky that [our booking] was two rooms because that fella coming behind us, a doctor as well, and no room for him. He just had to walk out, and like and there's no rooms anywhere in Bournemouth tonight. Naughty that, naughty. I've heard of aeroplanes doing it, but I've never known in 25 years of touring, a hotel doing it. That's not on, that is not on."
He then showed the bedroom he was staying in and added: "So we've managed to make best of our situation. But that poor doctor, maybe he could sleep on the floor! Anyway, good night." In the caption, he said: "What's your minimum expectation when you book a room at @Villagehotelsup? Staff were lovely but policy stinks!"
Jason returned to social media the next day to reveal the hotel management had been in touch and asked him to remove the video. He refused to take down the video and said he wanted to warn people about the company's practice. Jason also reminded fans it wasn't the staff's fault, but the company's itself.

"What I will say is it's not the staff's fault. And this is the problem with these big companies. That is somebody in an office, making a policy that makes them more money, but they don't have to deal with the s**t," he said to the camera.
"I didn't kick off, but I can imagine people would. So the staff then have to deal with upset customers and getting vitriol in heightened emotional situations. So I'm not going to take the video down, because I think it's right that people know that's what your company are doing.

"And I'm going to leave it up as a bit of support for the staff, who aren't being paid as much as the person who made the decision is and how much that person is making out of this ridiculous policy. So bear that in mind if these things do happen, same with an aeroplane. We've all been there, we've all been in a moment where the person we're in contact with is the person that's going to get it.
"But we have to take a step back sometimes, just remember that person is just doing their job and they don't like it either. In fact that's what the manager said to me last night, 'I don't like this either, I hate it'. It takes a video like this and us talking about it for them, hopefully to have a little look at their policies and think maybe this is not in the best interest of our staff and certainly not of the customer."

Chief of War to Hurricane Katrina: the seven best shows to stream this week

An epic history lesson, courtesy of the mountainous Jason Momoa. When we first meet Ka'iana (Momoa) he is something of a loner, capturing a shark with his bare hands and some rope. But he is coaxed back into armed service by the prophecy of an invasion that will lead to the unification of Hawaii. The drama is based on true events and great care has evidently been taken to present an authentic version of this undertold story. It is steeped in Polynesian cultural practices but it is also full of universal, action-adventure staples – namely, political machinations that periodically dissolve into prolonged outbreaks of expertly choreographed, frequently blood-curdling violence. Phil HarrisonApple TV+, from Friday 1 August Twenty years have now passed since the horrifying events surrounding Hurricane Katrina, but this gripping series brings the trauma back to life in visceral style. What began as an appalling natural disaster soon became a national crisis then an outrage of governmental negligence and structural racism which came to embody – and irrevocably taint – the final years of George W Bush's presidency. To watch the footage now is to be reminded of how close even the most seemingly advanced societies are to breakdown and chaos. Essential. PH Disney+, from Sunday 27 July This documentary, delayed from June, explores the death of British woman Christine Robinson who was raped and murdered at a safari lodge in South Africa in 2014. After the local police drew a blank, Robinson's niece Lehanne took it upon herself to hunt her aunt's killer remotely. She located the suspect online and began a long-distance relationship with Andrea Imbayarwo, who had, by this time, fled the country. Her actions led to his arrest and conviction. Harrowing but also a remarkable story of crime and punishment in the social media age. PH Prime Video, from Sunday 27 July This Netflix series is turning out to be an engaging source of quirky, marginal human interest stories. Its latest documentary explores the 2019 Storm Area 51 Facebook event, which was started by Matty Roberts as a joke but soon became dangerously real. The nominal idea was to see if anyone fancied uncovering the truth about alien lifeforms held in the US airforce facility Area 51. However, by the time the event had attracted the (virtual) attention of more than three million people, Roberts realised he'd created a monster he could no longer control. PH Netflix, from Tuesday Sign up to What's On Get the best TV reviews, news and features in your inbox every Monday after newsletter promotion A trippy and inventive animation for the summer holidays. StuGo introduces six gifted students tricked into attending a fake summer camp by eccentric scientist Dr Lullah, whose propensity for swishing her gown around like she's on a catwalk should have been a dead giveaway. Once the youngsters arrive on her island, they find an environment that is rife with danger but also full of perilous fun. It's a world of mind-reading manatees, huge fighting fungi, human cacti and a crocodile wearing jeans, and soon the kids are having a blast. PH Disney+, from Wednesday 30 July The southern belle stylings of Leanne Morgan meet the sitcom smarts of Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) to create this comedy. Morgan plays Leanne, who discovers that Bill (Ryan Stiles), her husband of 33 years, has cheated on her. The devastating blow launches a flurry of gags about menopause, midlife crises and recovering your dating mojo, as Leanne – with her sister Carol (Kristen Johnston) – looks to move on. It has hysterical studio audience reactions and hits its formulaic comic beats with confidence. PH Netflix, from Thursday 31 July The idea of spies who alternate domestic bliss with espionage activities peaked with The Americans. But this French-Canadian thriller retools the premise, starring Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin and Patrick Labbé as Rachel and Émile, two agents with a loving relationship, a couple of kids and – after a shooting at a consulate exposes a CIA operation – dangerously contrasting professional missions. To make matters worse, Émile needs to root out a double agent in the organisation. Could this lead him dangerously close to home? PH Channel 4, from Friday 1 August

Jason Momoa hits back at 'nepo baby' claims as his son makes film debut

Jason Momoa has hit back at anyone who has claimed that he used his connections to get his son a part in a Hollywood film alongside A-Listers like Timothee Chalamet. Jason Momoa has dismissed any claims that his son is a nepo baby as he makes his film debut. ‌ The actor, 45, has been one of the biggest names in Hollywood for decades now and that his son Nakoa-Wolf, 16, has landed a part in Dune: Three alongside the likes of Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, but felt the need to dismiss any sort of speculation that he had used his connections to get him the part. ‌ He told Extra: "He's in for a rude awakening is what he's in for. He's into the workforce for the first time. It's going to be good. He did it on his own. I don't want to help him, and he's done it all on his own, and good for him." The Aquaman star was also keen to talk about just how talented his son is, adding: "You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. I couldn't do what he's doing at his age. There's no way I could sit in a room with ['Dune 3' director] Denis Villeneuve and hold my own." ‌ Jason is also father to Lola, 18, with his ex-wife Lisa Bonet, while she has Zoe, 36, with her ex-husband Lenny Kravitz. Now, Jason is dating Adria Arjona and added to the outlet that being able to have his family around him at the premiere of his new drama series Chief of War just 'meant the world ' to him. In the Apple+ series, he plays Kaʻiana, a historical drama which sees his character become one of the 'most famous' figures to emerge from Hawaii. ‌ Last year, Jason and his love interest made their romance Instagram official, and sources close to the couple have revealed that they share a deep connection. An insider told PEOPLE: "He cares about her. It's real." They added: "She's good to him - and a lovely and genuine person and real like he is. She has a good sense of humour and is easy to be with. They relate to each other." Momoa split from his wife Lisa Bonet in 2022 after five years of marriage. Before going public with their relationship, Momoa hinted at his romance during a Q&A session at a Comic Con event, revealing he was "very much in a relationship". However, he didn't disclose Adria's name at the time, saying he was "enjoying the privacy". Responding to a question about his relationship status, Momoa said: "I'm very much in a relationship. You'll find out very soon! I'm very much in a relationship, I've been in a relationship for a while." "I'm just really enjoying privacy because back in the day no one gave a f--- and now everyone does, but I'm still the same guy. It's been really nice because everyone has kind of [left me alone], but ... yeah, thank you very much!"

Jason Momoa shuts down nepo baby claims as his son Nakoa-Wolf, 16, scores major role in Dune: Part Three in his Hollywood debut

Jason Momoa has insisted that his son Nakoa-Wolf isn't a nepo baby as he discussed his big Hollywood debut. His son Nakoa-Wolf, 16, is making his acting debut in Dune: Part Three after scoring the role of one of Timothee Chalamat and Zendaya 's on-screen twin children. However, the Aquaman star, 45, has shut down any speculation that he helped his son get his start in Hollywood, insisting Nakoa-Wolf did it without any help. Jason, who starred in the first Dune movie and is reprising his role, told Extra: 'He's into the workforce for the first time. It's going to be good. 'He did it on his own, I don't want to help him, and he's done it all on his own, and good for him.' Jason sweetly said he believes his son is 'better' than him and shared his awe over being able to handle himself in Hollywood at such a young age. 'I couldn't do what he's doing at his age, there's no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own,' he admitted while appearing at the Chief of War premiere with his family. 'I was on Baywatch at 19, he's 16 and holding shit down with Denis Villeneuve.' 'We raised him beautiful. We raised our children… it's just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves… that is what he is. He's very confident.' As well as Nakoa-Wolf, Jason also shares a daughter Lola Iolani, 18, with his ex-wife Lisa Bonet, 57, who is also a Hollywood actress. Nakoa-Wolf has been cast in Denis Villeneuve's third Dune instalment alongside Silo star Ida Brooke, 17. The two young actors will portray the twin children of Paul Atreides (Timothée) and Chani (Zendaya) - Leto Atreides and Ghanima Atreides. The film, which follows the events of Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune Messiah, continues the story of Paul Atreides as he becomes emperor. Jason, 45, originally played Duncan Idaho in Villeneuve's 2021 Dune film but did not appear in Dune: Part Two, which was released in 2024. He is confirmed to return in the third instalment, though details about his character's reappearance remain unclear. In the original book series, Duncan is resurrected as a clone – known as a ghola – following his death. In Dune's first movie, Duncan was the loyal swordmaster and mentor to Paul Atreides. His character was killed near the film's climax while defending Paul and Lady Jessica (portrayed by 56-year-old Rebecca Ferguson) from Sardaukar forces. Elsewhere, Jason was joined by his two children wihle he attended the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series Chief of War on Friday on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Over the weekend, Jason's teenage children stepped out to support him ahead of the release of his latest TV project. At Friday's premiere, Jason showcased his Hawaiian heritage wearing a black, red and yellow feathered cape over his tight black T-shirt and dark pants. In Chief of War, Jason stars as Ka'iana, a war chief who joins a bloody campaign to unite warring islands against the colonizers who will eventually take over their homes. Jason co-created, stars in and served as an executive producer on the Apple TV+ series. The nine episodes were shot in Hawaii and in New Zealand.
