Asean Summit 2025: PLUS advises highway users to plan ahead due to road closures
KUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) advises highway users to plan their journeys in advance due to a series of phased road closures in conjunction with the 46th Asean Summit.
In a statement on Thursday (May 22), PLUS said several stretches along its highways would be temporarily closed, following instructions from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of the police, to facilitate the movement of international delegates throughout the summit.
"The staggered road closures will be implemented from May 23 to 26 starting at 7am, and on May 28 starting at 8 am," the statement said.
The affected routes include the stretch from KLIA to Putrajaya via the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), Subang to Jalan Duta via the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and Sungai Buloh to Jalan Duta via the North-South Expressway.
PLUS said it has taken the necessary steps to ensure smooth traffic operations during the affected period and would work with the authorities to facilitate the movement of summit delegates.
Highway users travelling to or from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the Subang Air Force Airbase are advised to plan ahead to avoid delays.
PLUS also urged motorists to follow the instructions of traffic personnel on-site and to use alternative routes where necessary to prevent congestion.

Traffic heavy on major highways as vehicles exit KL for Aidiladha
KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow remains heavy on several major highways due to increased number of vehicles leaving the federal capital in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha today. A spokesman for PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said as of 10.30 pm tonight, traffic was reported to be slow on the North-South Expressway (NSE) and the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Expressway. 'In addition, slow-moving traffic was also detected on the PLUS E2 northbound route from Skudai Toll Plaza to Sedenak and from Yong Peng to Pagoh, while southbound traffic was slow from Southville City to the Seremban Rest and Service Area and from Bandar Ainsdale to Senawang. 'For the PLUS E1 route, northbound delays are expected from Bukit Lanjan to Rawang, Sungkai to Bidor, Bidor to Tapah, Tapah to Gopeng, and Perai to Bertam,' the spokesman told Bernama. The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) social media platform posted that the KLK Expressway was congested eastbound from Gombak to Bukit Tinggi and from Lentang to Bentong.
