CALGARY, Alberta — Pembina Pipeline Corporation ('Pembina') (TSX: PPL; NYSE: PBA) announced today that Alliance Pipeline Limited Partnership ('Alliance') has reached a negotiated settlement (the 'Settlement') with shippers and interested parties (the 'Shipper Committee') on the Canadian portion of the Alliance Pipeline and filed an application with the Canada Energy Regulator (the 'CER') seeking approval of the Settlement. Separately, Alliance announced it is soliciting non-binding expressions of interest for a new regional short-haul transportation service.

'We are pleased after many months of complex, yet productive, discussions to have reached a negotiated solution with the Shipper Committee, consisting of over 30 members,' said Scott Burrows, Pembina's President and Chief Executive Officer. 'The negotiated tolls are competitive and will provide toll certainty to Shippers. The Settlement is fair and equitable to Alliance and all Shippers. We now look forward to a timely response from the CER.'
Article content
In November 2024, the CER ordered Alliance to submit for approval a detailed toll application justifying why its current tolling methodology remained compliant with the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, or a new tolling methodology application. Likewise, the CER ordered that the current tolls be deemed interim tolls until resolution of the above. Following the CER order, Alliance worked collaboratively with the Shipper Committee towards a negotiated settlement.

Highlights of the Settlement include:

A 10-year term, effective November 1, 2025 – October 31, 2035.
A revised term-differentiated toll schedule that includes the establishment of a new 10-year toll and a reduction to the existing 1-year, 3-year and 5-year tolls ('New Tolls'). The New Tolls are expected to reduce existing long-term firm tolls by an average of 14 percent on a volume weighted average basis.
All existing long-term firm service contracts will incorporate the New Tolls, and the New Tolls will remain fixed for the 10-year period effective November 1, 2025.
The Settlement offers existing long-term firm shippers a one-time term extension option, enabling shippers to take advantage of the new term-differentiated tolls, effective November 1, 2025. Alliance anticipates a significant portion of contracted volumes to take advantage of the 10-year toll, thereby extending the weighted average term of Alliance's contractual profile.
Revenue from biddable transportation service (seasonal and interruptible) for volumes above long-term firm capacity of 1.325 billion cubic feet per day, will be shared 50/50 between Alliance and firm and seasonal shippers, thus aligning the interests of Alliance and its shippers and maintaining Alliance's ability to fairly and equitably allocate short-term capacity when available and demanded by the market.
The Settlement has no retroactive impact on the interim tolls in effect since November 2024. The interim tolls will be made final and apply until October 31, 2025.
Alliance will remain under an 'at-risk' commercial model where returns and Alliance's ability to recover operating costs are squarely driven by the customer demand for its service and Alliance's ability to efficiently provide such service and manage costs.
Alliance will return approximately $95 million, currently held as an existing liability on Alliance's balance sheet, associated with eligible recoverable costs ('Recoverable Cost Variance'). The economic impact to Alliance of the return of this balance is limited to foregone carrying charges, which previously accrued at 8.75 percent. Alliance's ability to recover the same limited categories of cost in the future via surcharges under the Settlement is unchanged.
Article content
The Shipper Committee supported the Settlement through a vote on July 23, 2025. The Settlement is contingent on approval by the CER. Alliance has filed an application with the CER requesting approval of the Settlement by September 15, 2025. The full application is available for viewing on the CER Website.
Article content
Pembina expects the financial impact to Alliance from the Settlement over the next 10 years will be an approximately $50 million per year reduction in long-term firm service revenue, plus the impact of the new revenue sharing provision. The impact of the revenue sharing provision is subject to biddable transportation service tolls, which will depend primarily on future commodity prices. The estimated impact of the revenue sharing provision assuming an AECO-Chicago natural gas spread of C$1.50 per thousand cubic feet ('mcf') is approximately $40 million. The estimated impact of every incremental C$0.25/mcf change is approximately $10 million. Applying the terms of the Settlement to Alliance's financial results over the historical five-year period from 2020 to 2024, the average annual impact of the Settlement, including the reduction in long-term firm service revenue and the impact of the new revenue sharing provision, would have been approximately $95 million.

Pembina looks forward to continuing to deliver exceptional customer service and maximizing the value of this critical and highly differentiated North American energy infrastructure asset.
Prospective Regional Short-Haul Alliance Expansion
Article content
Alliance is soliciting non-binding expressions of interest for a prospective new short-haul expansion providing transportation capacity to Alberta's Industrial Heartland with delivery to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. As part of its proposed offering, Alliance has initiated a feasibility study for up to 350 million cubic feet per day of incremental capacity with an anticipated in-service date in late 2029.

Did Disney Just Win the Streaming Wars? Read About CEO Bob Iger's Huge Announcement Here.

Key Points Disney's theme parks were its main growth driver in the third quarter. Disney is merging Disney+ and Hulu into one app, which it expects to provide a better experience for users and greater opportunities for advertising for Disney. The new ESPN streaming channel is launching Aug. 21 and ESPN is acquiring the NFL network. 10 stocks we like better than Walt Disney › Iconic entertainment brand Disney (NYSE: DIS) had some exciting news for investors this week. The company reported earnings for the fiscal 2025 third quarter (ended June 28) and they were mediocre. But it was the company updates that stole the show, and it looks like Disney is getting into a better position in streaming. Let's see what's happening. No other experience like it Disney is an entertainment giant with many exclusive assets that serve as a strong moat. Although there are other theme parks in the world, there's nothing quite like the magic of the Disney experience, which brings together loved franchises and characters that fans feel connected to. All of Disney's segments work together, with the content and characters unifying all the parts. But Disney's theme parks are a complete business. They were a standout in the third quarter, driving total revenue growth of 2% year over year with an 8% increase, and driving overall profitability and an earnings beat with a 22% increase in operating income. That was important over the past few months, since streaming is still finding its footing and linear networks are still in decline. Disney+ added 1.8 million new subscribers in the quarter, only 1% more than last year, and streaming operating income increased about 5%. However, CEO Bob Iger provided some massive news about streaming that could positively change Disney's trajectory. ESPN, NFL, and Hulu There were two major announcements related to streaming that Iger gave on the earnings call. One was the integration of Hulu into Disney+, with both available through a single app. This offers greater selection and personalization options for viewers, as well as more engagement, lower churn, higher margins, and improved advertising opportunities for Disney. It puts the two channels together on one tech platform, which is easier and cheaper to run, and creates the potential for advertising packages that weren't available in the previous format. Down the line, Iger expects this to result in greater price elasticity and bundling opportunities. The second streaming update caught a lot more attention in the market, and that's the launch of the new ESPN+ on Aug. 21 along with a new partnership between ESPN and the National Football League (NFL). The ESPN+ streaming platform has been a work in progress for several years as Disney has tried tried to figure out what to do with it. It's an important element of the company's cable networks strategy, but it also needs to offer something unique to streaming viewers. The new ESPN streaming site will offer personalized features, game stats, fantasy sports, and other special elements not available on the cable network. Subscribers to the full Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle will be able to view content directly on the Disney+ app, further unifying the platform. As part of its new streaming era, ESPN is acquiring the NFL network and some media assets, including highlight reels on social media sites and interactive platforms. It will also offer the NFL's Red Zone channel to premium subscribers. The NFL is taking a 10% stake in ESPN in return. This could have broader implications in the world of sports, impacting player salaries and the relationship with the players' union, and it will have to meet regulatory approval. But it's a big win for Disney as it carves out ESPN's place in the streaming world. Is Disney winning the streaming wars? I wouldn't say this means Disney is winning the streaming wars. Disney's streaming business is still trying to keep up with Netflix, which has truly demonstrated spectacular performance in the face of an onslaught of new streaming companies over the past few years. It still has more subscriptions than Disney, although it stopped reporting subscription numbers at the end of 2024, and it has more revenue than Disney's streaming business. It's also growing faster and has a wide operating margin of 31.5%. Disney has an unparalleled content library, but streaming only recently became profitable and it's still figuring out how to make the business work best. The new updates are exciting for Disney shareholders, and Disney's streaming business is well positioned to keep growing and create value for the company. 1 Reason I'm Watching Oklo Stock in 2025

Key Points Oklo is a leader in the development of small modular reactor technology. The company completed the acquisition of Atomoic Alchemy in March, diversifying its business operations. Atomic Alchemcy could emerge as an excellent opportunity for Oklo to mitigate risk. 10 stocks we like better than Oklo › Soaring 261% through the first seven months of 2025, it's clear that Oklo (NYSE: OKLO) has attracted a considerable amount of investor interest. With nuclear energy growing in popularity, the small modular reactor (SMR) developer's stock has remained in high demand from investors seeking nuclear energy exposure. But the narrative regarding Oklo is more complex than investors may realize. Completing its acquisition of Atomic Alchemy in March, Oklo has evolved into a business that is expanding beyond the development of SMR technology. That's why I'll be keeping a close eye on it over the next few months. Revenue may start rolling in sooner rather than later Recognized for its progress in developing SMR technology, Oklo took a step toward diversifying its operations earlier this year when it completed the acquisition of Atomic Alchemy, a company involved in radioisotope production. Oklo forecasts investments in Atomic Alchemy's demonstration project totaling less than $500,000 in 2025, and it expects that the project will start producing revenue in early to mid-2026. In addition, Oklo plans on submitting a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license application for the company's first commercial facility featuring its proprietary Versatile Isotope Production Reactor in 2025, with the project expected to commence operations in 2028. Oklo cites data from Research Nester that projects the radioisotopes market -- including those used in defense, medical, semiconductor manufacturing, and other industries -- at $55.7 billion by 2026. Why I'm paying close attention to the Atomic Alchemy acquisition Having recently completed a key component of the NRC combined license application, Oklo is targeting late 2027 for the start of operations for its first SMR Aurora powerhouse. Should the company recognize success with the Atomic Alchemy demonstration plant, it would suggest that the company may have a material revenue stream that can mitigate some of the company's risk. There's no certainty that the NRC will approve the Aurora powerhouse application, and, if it does, there are still potential risks should the company succeed in achieving commercial operations of the Aurora powerhouses. So I'm watching how the Atomic Alchemy project works out. Should you invest $1,000 in Oklo right now? Before you buy stock in Oklo, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and Oklo wasn't one of them. Canada could be trade winner as U.S. tariffs undershoot global competitors by wide margin, says report

The tariff rate imposed on Canadian exports by the United States is estimated to be the lowest amongst the world's trading countries, meaning that Canada could end up coming out ahead in Donald Trump 's trade war, a new report says. Article content Oxford Economics Group Ltd. estimates the U.S.'s current effective tariff rate on Canada is 2.5 per cent, placing it below Mexico at four per cent and well below other major U.S. trading partners. Article content Article content For example, the U.S. tariff rate is 35 per cent on China, 15 per cent on Japan, 13 per cent on South Korea and eight per cent on the United Kingdom and the European Union, based on data from calculated duties as a share of imports, Oxford said. Article content Article content 'If the relatively low tariffs apparently being paid on imports from Mexico and Canada persist, these two economies could pick up some benefits from shifts in supply chains, although uncertainties over the endgame for tariffs and the future of the (Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement) will be near-term drags,' Adam Slater, lead economist at Oxford Economics, said in the report. Article content CUSMA-compliant goods escape U.S. tariffs, though the trade agreement is scheduled to be reviewed in July 2026, but some people, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford, think that deadline could be accelerated. Article content Still, Slater described the current estimates for the tariff rates 'as something of a puzzle.' Article content Article content One set of trade data from the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that 56 per cent of goods entering the U.S. from Canada and 47 per cent from Mexico are compliant with CUSMA, while other Census Bureau data suggests the rates are 91 per cent and 84 per cent, respectively. Article content Article content 'It may be the case that tariff exemptions for these economies are broader than assumed,' Slater said. Article content Slater said Oxford based its overall 2.5 per cent tariff rate for Canada on a higher level of CUSMA compliance, 'while not directly' adhering to the 91 per cent level. Article content But trade between the U.S. and Canada hasn't escaped unscathed. Article content 'The biggest negative impacts have been in Canada, where imports are down 25 per cent from January levels, and in China, where imports are down 50 per cent from January,' Slater said, adding that 'Chinese data on exports to the U.S. shows a much less dramatic decline of around 25 per cent since January,' possibly due to rerouting of goods through other countries.
