There were awkward smiles all around when Zak Crawley pulled out of his batting stance before the second ball in the final over, bowled by Mohammed Siraj, at the Oval on Saturday (August 3). Cameras panned to Indian captain Shubman Gill — who had infamously told Crawley and his partner, Ben Duckett, to 'grow some ******* balls' two Tests ago for the same thing — and he was seen sheepishly smiling, too, perhaps controlling a full-blown laughter. However, Siraj bluffed him, sneaking in a searing in-swinging yorker. Crawley's feet didn't move and the ball went under his bat to clatter the timber. He got out for 14 (36), leaving England at 50/1 and giving the visitors a big boost going into the fourth (and likely the final) day of the series.
