The country music icon turned 92 on April 29 (though Nelson celebrates two birthdays: he was born April 29, just before midnight, but his birth was recorded on April 30).
His storied career from a young musician in Abbott, Texas, to American staple has been marked by a wide discography, having released an astounding 154 albums both solo and collaboratively – the most recent of which, "Oh What a Beautiful World," was released April 25 and reinterprets songs by fellow country musician and Texan Rodney Crowell.
The outlaw country star is also known for his activism, as one of the leading celebrity voices in support of marijuana legalization and biofuels, and is a continued advocate of American farmers.

Nelson's wife, Annie D'Angelo, recently responded to a report stating their son Lukas Nelson was "taking care" of them.
In a post from cable TV channel AXS TV on Instagram, the outlet posted a photo of the three and wrote that Lukas "makes sure mom & dad are comfortable," but incorrectly stated D'Angelo's age.
"Hey @axstv why would you take a photo from someone else's feed (my friend @marthacasselbodell ) & then make stuff up?" she commented April 18. "I still take care of my husband (Lukas has always been there for us as has his brother @particlekid ) and love it. Then you claim our incorrect ages. Don't do that Just ask."
D'Angelo, 68, and Nelson have been married since 1991.

It's back! We're once again living in a time where Topshop thrives by creating major fashion moments in the beating heart of central London. On Saturday afternoon, hundreds gathered in Trafalgar Square to welcome the British stalwart back as it unveiled its new collection. ELLE was there front and centre of the action to take in the looks, understand the vibe and discover what's next for everyone's favourite accessible label. Here's everything you need to know — from the glitzy attendees to the styling tricks to note — about Topshop's second act. In a setting befitting Topshop's Great British status, the high-street brand chose London's Trafalgar Square for their long-awaited relaunch. In the shadow of The National Gallery, Nelson's column and the four plinths, fashion industry insiders and Topshop devotees enjoyed tunes from Norman Jay MBE and Melvo Baptise, of Good Times as the models walked out. Cara Delevingne (who is Topshop's face once again and curator for the brand), Adwoa Aboah and Alva Claire swapped the catwalk for the front row to take in the collection in the middle of Trafalgar Square. Together, the trio were fast to snap their favourite looks for future reference, while singing along to Beyoncé on the soundtrack. Each of the Brit models wore a Topshop look that befitted their personal style. Fitting into a trend we're already expecting to take off for AW25, the Topshop collection also went in heavy on matching skirt sets. A particular standout was a natty turquoise skirt suit, worn with a tie and personality hat. Another great one that piqued the interest of ELLE's editors perched on the front row was a long-length brown mac worn with coordinating pencil skirt. CNN anchor Jake Tapper caught on hot mic during Trump/Putin coverage: 'Give me my show'
CNN anchor Jake Tapper was caught on a hot mic during the network's special Aug. 15 coverage of President Donald Trump's summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Tapper, who usually hosts his two-hour program "The Lead" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST from Washington, D.C., was live Friday in Alaska, when his colleague Anderson Cooper attempted to throw it back to him. "I'm fine, just give me my show back," Tapper said, seemingly expressing his frustration while failing to realize he was live. The hot mic moment was shared on X by conservative NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck. A smiling Cooper then quipped, "Show's back!" 'Allison Cooper': Trump calls CNN anchor Anderson Cooper 'Allison' in rant After the awkward exchange, Tapper welcomed Sen. Adam Schiff to the show, but the California Democrat couldn't hear the CNN host. "I think I lost you," Schiff said. Tapper then told the audience that "we're having real comms problems today. I'm sorry about that. If anybody can hear me, let's go throw it back to New York." At that point, Cooper again took over, saying "Okay, Jake, thanks very much." At the Alaska summit, Trump and Putin failed to achieve a major breakthrough in peace negotiations over Russia's war against Ukraine. Tapper occasionally becomes frustrated during on-air coverage. In 2020, Tapper played Lara Trump's remarks at a "Women for Trump" 2020 campaign event about former President Joe Biden during her interview on "State of the Union." "Every time he comes on stage and they turn to him, I'm like: 'Joe, can you get it out. Let's get the words out,'" Trump said. Tapper then asked, "How do you think it makes little kids with stutters feel when they see you make a comment like that?" Trump then responded that she did not know Biden had a stutter, which was a well-documented disability of the then-presidential candidate. "I think what we see on stage with Joe Biden, Jake, is very clearly a cognitive decline. That's what I'm referring to," Trump said. Tapper then shut down the interview, telling Trump that she had "absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody's cognitive decline." In May, Tapper revealed that he had apologized to Trump about the incident.
