Anticipatory bail granted for actor Krishnakumar, daughter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader and actor Krishnakumar and his daughter Diya Krishna were granted anticipatory bail by Thiruvananthapuram principal sessions court in connection with a case for abduction that was filed by three former employees of a shop owned by Diya.
The complaint of abduction was filed by Vinitha, Divya and Radhakumari, who were former employees of 'Oh by Ozy', a store owned by Diya. The police had filed a report with the court which said they could not find any evidence to substantiate the allegation of abduction. The CCTV visuals reportedly show the women leaving Diya's flat in two separate cars, weakening their claim.
Meanwhile, the court turned down the anticipatory bail plea of the three women staff in the case pertaining to alleged financial fraud. Diya had complained that the women swindled Rs 69 lakh from the shop using their QR code instead of the one provided by the owners.
The police informed the court that the investigation is yet to be completed and if anticipatory bail plea was granted, it would affect further investigation.

Locked In Rooms, Urine-Stained Clothes: 39 Rescued From Old Age Home In Noida
New Delhi: Elderly people locked in rooms, no staff to take care of them, some of them wearing urine and faeces-stained clothes, while others left alone with no clothes. Such a pitiable condition of the elderly people was found at an old-age home, Anand Niketan Vridha Ashram, in Noida's Sector 55. A video of the poor state of the old-age home, which went viral, was also recently sent to the Social Welfare Department of Lucknow. The short clip showed an elderly woman kept in a room with her hands tied. Soon after, the State Women's Commission and the Noida police raided the home on Thursday and rescued 39 senior citizens. When the officials reached the spot, they found many elderly people tied up in their clothes and locked in rooms. According to State Women Commission member Meenakshi Bharala, some old men were locked up in basement-like rooms. While most of the elderly men were not wearing clothes, the women were given partial clothing. Many of them were found with urine-stained or feces-stained clothes. Additionally, officials found there was no proper staff to take care of the senior citizens. One employee of the old-age home, who called herself a nurse, said that she had just passed the 12th standard. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Ashram had taken a donation of Rs 2.5 lakh from the families of the elderly people. Additionally, they also took Rs 6,000 per month for their food and accommodation. A case has been filed against the old-age home and the elderly are being shifted to a government old-age home in a couple of days.

Marijuana-laced jelly beans sold to college students in Bengaluru, two arrested
Bengaluru police have arrested two men for selling jelly bean candies, laced with marijuana to students from medical and engineering accused, Mohammed Zahid and Ismail Adnan, both residents of Vishwanath Nagenahalli in Hebbal, were caught during a raid conducted by the Byatarayanapura police, led by officer K Jeevan. A third suspect is on the the raid, police seized 1,440 g of ganja worth approximately Rs 3 lakh. Investigators revealed that the accused were manufacturing jelly candies infused with marijuana drug-laced sweets, which looked like regular candies, were sold for as much as 6,000 per Officials said the jelly melts quickly in the mouth and produces an intense high, reportedly stronger than smoking marijuana or consuming hashish. Its innocent appearance made it easy for users to hide and carry without raising suspect that the racket was being operated in coordination with an associate based in Mangaluru. Efforts are currently underway to trace the production site of these cannabis-infused isn't the first time drug-laced candies have surfaced in Karnataka. In August 2023, a similar case in Mangaluru came to light when parents noticed sudden behavioural changes in their children, coupled with persistent demands for a particular Rs 20 chocolate from two local on complaints, police raided the shops and seized 118 kg of chocolates laced with marijuana. Gangster Manjit Mahal's nephew shot dead in Delhi's Bawana; police say fallout of a gang war
A 30-year-old man was killed and his seven-year-old daughter was injured when unidentified men shot at them in Delhi's Bawana area while they were out on a morning walk Friday. The man has been identified as Deepak, and sources in the Delhi Police said they suspect the shooters could be linked to the gang of Kapil Sangwan, who is also known as Nandu, as the deceased is the nephew of jailed mafia don Manjeet Mahal, the Nandu gang's longtime rival. According to senior police officers, the shooting took place at around 7.30 am when Deepak was walking with his daughter. Deepak died on the spot, and his daughter sustained injuries to her hand. She has been treated and is out of danger. Deepak's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, the police said. Meanwhile, the crime and forensics teams have reached the spot where the shooting took place, and are analysing the bullet shells. Mahal and London-based Sangwan have been in each other's crosshairs even before he fled to the United Kingdom. The Delhi Police say the rivalry between the gangs originated out of a money lending dispute in 2015, when Mahal's associate allegedly gunned down Sangwan's brother-in-law over a pending loan. Sangwan then launched a full-scale gang war against Mahal, now jailed, and orchestrated the killing of his father in 2017. The gang war between the two has claimed a dozen lives over the years, police sources said. In April 2025, a businessman was murdered in Delhi's Paschim Vihar area, with the Nandu gang claiming responsibility on social media as they suspected he was working for Mahal. In 2023, Sangwan allegedly ordered the killing of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader for his proximity with Mahal, a police officer said. A red corner notice has also been issued against Sangwan.
