Egypt signs vaccine production agreement with UAE's Al Qalaa, China's Red Flag
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the agreement supports Egypt's national strategy to attract foreign investment, localise biotechnology industries, and advance scientific research and innovation under the country's Vision 2030 sustainable development framework.
The partnership aims to position Egypt as a regional hub for vaccine manufacturing and exports—particularly to African and Arab markets—while ensuring self-sufficiency in critical vaccines and plasma-based products.
Sherif El-Fil, CEO of VACSERA, described the deal as a major step toward transferring advanced vaccine manufacturing technologies to Egypt. He said it would secure the domestic supply of safe, effective vaccines and open new export opportunities.
El-Fil added that the collaboration will also strengthen VACSERA's capabilities in plasma processing and biopharmaceutical production, reinforcing its role as a key regional player in the vaccine industry.
The MoU was signed by Sherif El-Fil for VACSERA, Li Yang, CEO of China's Red Flag, and Ashraf El-Badawy, CEO of UAE's Al Qalaa Investments.

Image: Supplied The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has onboarded Thndr, a leading retail investment platform in the MENA region, as the first remote retail trading member on the UAE's largest exchange, the second biggest in the MENA region, and among the top 20 globally. Thndr, a Hub71 start-up, is one of the region's first fully digital investment platforms. Regulated by the Abu Dhabi Global Market's (ADGM) Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), the company is expanding into the UAE after building a strong track record in the region. In 2024, Thndr recorded more than $13bn in trading value and executed 12 million trades. The platform has over four million downloads, provides access to the UAE, Egypt, and US markets, and offers a range of asset classes including stocks, gold, mutual funds, and savings products. Thndr users will soon be able to invest directly in leading UAE-listed companies and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) via its mobile app, in line with ADX's strategy to connect Abu Dhabi to global capital. The announcement was made at an event at ADX's Abu Dhabi headquarters. Dubai: Free treatment for more residents soon as Pakistan Medical Centre to expand
More UAE residents will soon be able to get free and discounted medical treatment as Dh45 million expansion work on Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) and Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC) will begin in the near future. The expansion will increase PMC capacity by threefold, offering heavily discounted and free medical services to over 15,000 people. 'Phase 2 of PAD and PMC expansion will cost Dh45 million. It is one of the largest expansions of PAD's history, expanding PMC space and services by threefold, along with indoor sports and basement parking. It is a two-year project, and work will start soon. Commenting on the contribution of PMC, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan's envoy to the UAE, praised the PMC initiative and termed it 'the most affordable medical treatment available to people in the UAE.' 'This is a mind-blowing job by the Pakistan Association Dubai and Dr Faisal Ikram. In addition to people who get free treatment, even those who can afford it also pay a nominal amount. People can get almost an entire checkup for just Dh100, irrespective of which country or religion they belong to, because humanity is the biggest and most important thing,' the ambassador said on Sunday. Highlighting contributions of the Pakistani community to Pakistan, Tirmizi noted that over 1.7 million Pakistanis in the UAE remitted a record $7.9 billion (Dh29 billion) in the past year from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. 'If we compare it to the previous year's $6.5 billion remittances, this is a massive increase of over 20 per cent. I expect that remittances will continue to increase in the coming year,' the ambassador said.

MUSTADEEM Programme concludes first edition, graduating a new generation of young sustainability leaders in the UAE

Dubai: The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment successfully concluded the first edition of the MUSTADEEM programme, organised as part of the 'Year of Community' to build and empower the capacities of Emirati youth in the fields of environment, agriculture, and sustainability. The programme aims to qualify and cultivate a generation capable of promoting innovation in sustainability and enhancing their readiness for the future job market by equipping them with research, analysis, and teamwork skills. Two closing ceremonies were held to honour the participating youth and strategic partners at Silal in Al Ain and the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) in Dubai. Participants aged 13 to 16 who completed the intensive training programme, held from August 4 to 8, were honoured. Commemorative shields were also presented to representatives of Silal and ICBA in recognition of their pivotal role as strategic partners in providing participants with a unique educational and practical experience. His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, said: "The success of the first edition of MUSTADEEM is a testament to our leadership's vision in investing in our most precious asset, our youth. These participants are the nucleus of the national human capital that our future green economy and sustainable food security system will rely upon.
