City cops book another in NEET 2020 dummy racket
Deputy commissioner of police (west) Amit Kumar stated that Ashok Saini was a close associate of Ayurveda practitioner Subhash Saini, who has already been arrested in the case. Kumar said digital evidence recovered during the probe established Ashok's active role in the racket. "He worked in close coordination with Subhash and was instrumental in arranging dummy candidates for the NEET exam," Kumar said.
Police had earlier arrested three individuals: Sachin Gaura (22), a student at AIIMS Jodhpur; Ajit Gaura (30), a student at a medical college in Bharatpur; and Subhash Saini (33), an Ayurveda practitioner.
Investigations revealed that Ajit Gaura appeared in the NEET-UG 2020 exam impersonating Sachin Gaura.
Sachin allegedly paid a significant amount of money to Subhash Saini to secure a dummy candidate for the exam. Subhash, in turn, enlisted the help of Ashok Saini to carry out the task. Police sources said Ashok had prior experience in facilitating such fraudulent activities. Ashok's role, though previously under the radar, came to light during the interrogation of Subhash, who disclosed their collaboration in arranging dummy candidates.

Private hostel owner booked for harassing Dalit girl, roommate
Varanasi: A Dalit girl NEET aspirant from Jaunpur district, staying at a private hostel in Durgakund area under Bhelupur police station, was sexually harassed allegedly by the hostel owner. According to reports, he also attempted to target her roommate on Saturday. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bhelupur Gaurav Kaumar said that on receiving complaint from the girl's father, Bhelupur police lodged FIR against the accused hostel owner under sections of BNS, Pocso and SC/ST Act. An investigation into the matter had begun and proper action would be taken based on its outcomes, he added. In his complaint, the girl's father alleged that the hostel owner not only harassed his daughter but also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone, using caste-based slurs against her. On Friday, he alleged, the hostel owner harassed her classmate too, who somehow pushed him away and ran to her room, locking herself inside. Failing to target her, the hostel owner started harassing his daughter. The girl's father mentioned that the hostel owner's wife also hurled abuses at the daughter and her classmate and threatened to kill them. Bhelupur police said as the case registered in this connection also comprises sections of SC/ST Act, further action would be taken after detailed investigation by the ACP. Admit cards, candidate lists found after police arrest man accused of leaking Bihar constable recruitment exam
Bihar Police's Economic Offences Unit Saturday arrested a key suspect in the 2023 Bihar Police constable recruitment paper leak case. The accused, Rajkishore Kumar (35), carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh, said DIG (EOU) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, adding that multiple admit cards and detailed candidate lists for various recruitment examinations were allegedly recovered from his possession. The documents seized included names, roll numbers, districts, dates of birth, exam dates, category details, and booklet numbers of several aspirants in exams such as the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), the electricity department recruitment test, and the CSBC constable examination. Sources say that Rajkishore is allegedly an associate of 2024 NEET-UG 'mastermind' Sanjeev Mukhiya, who is also booked for orchestrating at least three competitive exam question paper leaks. According to the officer, more than Rs 1.5 crore was traced to his bank accounts, believed to be proceeds collected from candidates. The Central Selection Board of Constables had advertised 21,391 constable vacancies in the Bihar Police on June 9, 2023, for which more than 18 lakh candidates applied, and the written examination was scheduled across 37 districts on October 1, 7, and 15, 2023, in two sittings on each day. Following the October 1 session, allegations surfaced on social media platforms about large-scale malpractice, paper leaks, and 'centre setting'. Several Telegram channels, such as 'Bihar Police Question Quiz,' 'Bihar Police Question Out 2023,' and 'Prime Education (Leak Questions)', circulated answer keys. 'The first-shift answer key was leaked on Telegram by 7:59 am, and the second-shift answer key by 12:05 pm, before the exam had even begun in certain centres,' according to the FIR lodged with the EOU. In light of confirmed irregularities, the exam scheduled for October 1 was cancelled by CSBC after investigation. Following multiple complaints to the EOU via email and helpline number, an official FIR was registered at the Economic Offences police station in Patna on October 31, 2023. Investigators had found that organised syndicates had been active since June 2023, promising candidates 'guaranteed success' in exchange for payments ranging between Rs 80,000 and Rs 90,000. The groups circulated material using Telegram and WhatsApp, arranged electronic devices for cheating, and colluded with some exam centres, police said. Police said that multiple FIRs and arrests had earlier been made statewide in the same leak, and as the probe widened, it uncovered an organised racket targeting competitive exams.

Punjab CM: Cops to get ₹1.2 lakh for 1-kg heroin seizure from next year
The cops performing well in the 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' (anti-drug war) campaign will receive monetary reward, chief minister Bhagwant Mann has said while claiming that the narcotics supply network has been on its last legs. During his Independence Day speech in Faridkot, he said, 'It has been decided that from March 1, 2026, the police personnel recovering 1-kg heroin will get a cash reward of ₹1.2 lakh.' Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann (PTI file) Asserting that Pakistan has been the source of the drugs reaching the state, he said the government has demolished houses built using drug money, jailed smugglers and curbed the open sale of drugs. 'Punjab is the first state in the country to have its own anti-drone system which will destroy any flying object coming from the other side of the border. For the first time, an anti-drug syllabus has been introduced in the schools of the state to make students aware of the scourge of drugs,' he added. The CM offered prayers at Tilla Baba Sheikh Farid. Mann highlighted that Punjab has topped the National Achievement Survey 2025 in all subjects for the first time since 2017. 'The government school students are clearing JEE and NEET, and Punjab-origin players captain the national football, basketball, women's cricket and men's hockey teams,' he said. He lauded the academic achievements of girls, pointing out that the Class 8 and Class 10 toppers — Navjot Kaur and Akshnoor Kaur — of 2025 hailed from Faridkot.
