Fortnite servers down: Expected fix time and cause revealed
The occasion? The launch of Galactic Battle, the game's latest seasonal chapter.
Scheduled downtime has become a ritual in Fortnite's community, a momentary pause that signals something bigger: change.
For this season, players await an interstellar shift, teased by Epic with promises of new weapons, map overhauls, and a reimagined Battle Pass.
If leaks are to be believed, fans may find themselves wielding blaster rifles and lightsabers, or navigating the island in vehicles reminiscent of cinematic space sagas.
Rumours swirl of X-Wings and melee-focused combat mechanics poised to alter the game's tempo.
Epic hasn't shared much, but longtime players know the drill. The servers went dark at 2 am EDT, and if all goes smoothly, they might be back online in three to five hours.

The Fortnite Icon Series began in 2019 with Marshmello and has since expanded to include musicians, athletes, and streamers such as Ninja, Lachlan, and SypherPK. Cenat will be the latest addition, with his cosmetic bundle unveiled in full during the video package. The Kai Cenat Icon Series bundle is expected to include: Kai Cenat Outfit AMP Pickaxe Hamster Pet Companion Super Kai Emote Kai's Signature Dance Emote Mercedes AMG Vehicle with decals While most bundles in Fortnite feature back bling items, dataminers have suggested that Cenat's hamster will debut as a new 'pet companion' cosmetic type, marking the first of its kind in the game. The release coincides with Cenat's final Mafiathon event, a streaming marathon known for high-profile collaborations and celebrity appearances. Fans anticipate that the upcoming edition may also feature crossover content with Epic Games, with speculation that Cenat could host part of the stream from the developer's headquarters. As with previous crossovers, players may gain early access to the bundle through a special tournament held on the same day. Top-placing competitors are expected to earn the cosmetics for free, while Cenat may also distribute limited redemption codes during his broadcast. Alan Cumming finds healing as Nightcrawler in ‘Avengers: Doomsday'
Alan Cumming has described his return to the Marvel universe as both unexpected and healing. More than two decades after first portraying Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United, the Emmy-winning actor has stepped back into the role for Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in May 2026. Cumming, now 60, admitted that his first outing as the blue-skinned mutant was far from enjoyable. He recalled long hours in the makeup chair and an unpleasant working environment, experiences he previously documented in his memoir Baggage: Tales from a Fully Packed Life. But this time, he says the project was different. Speaking at the Televerse 2025 conference, he revealed that filming had just wrapped earlier this month and that the experience left him feeling 'really healing.' He explained that advances in special effects made the return far easier, with makeup application now cut down from five gruelling hours to just ninety minutes. Filming was also compressed because of his commitment to The Traitors, meaning many of his scenes were shot quickly on green screens and stitched together. The actor said this allowed him to perform the superhero stunts he never expected to take on in his sixties, adding that everyone on set treated him with kindness and professionalism. Marvel has assembled an ambitious cast for Avengers: Doomsday, including the return of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn and Kelsey Grammer alongside the wider Avengers ensemble. The film introduces Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, a role already generating intense anticipation among fans. For Cumming, the return of Nightcrawler is a nostalgic reprise. It is also a chance to rewrite a difficult chapter in his career with a positive experience. He described it as stealthy, swift and above all satisfying, a contrast to the misery he once associated with the role. As he put it himself, 'It was actually really great to go back. A great film, great film. I love the film.'

Google agrees $36 million fine for anti-competitive deals with Australia telcos
SYDNEY: Google agreed on Monday to pay a A$55 million ($35.8 million) fine in Australia after the consumer watchdog found it had hurt competition by paying the country's two largest telcos to pre-install its search application on Android phones, excluding rival search engines. The fine extends a bumpy period for the Alphabet-owned internet giant in Australia, where last week a court mostly ruled against it in a lawsuit brought by Fortnite maker Epic Games accusing Google and Apple of preventing rival application stores in their operating systems. Google's YouTube was also last month added to an Australian ban on social media platforms admitting users aged under 16, reversing an earlier decision to exempt the video-sharing site. On anti-competitive tie-ups with Australian telcos, the country's consumer watchdog on Monday said Google struck deals with Telstra and Optus, under which the tech giant shared with them advertising revenue generated from Google Search on Android devices between late 2019 and early 2021. Google admitted the arrangement had a substantial impact on competition from rival search engines, and has stopped signing similar deals while also agreeing to the fine, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) added. 'Today's outcome … created the potential for millions of Australians to have greater search choice in the future, and for competing search providers to gain meaningful exposure to Australian consumers,' ACCC Chair Gina-Cass Gottlieb said. Google and the ACCC have jointly submitted to the Federal Court that Google should pay the A$55 million fine. The court must still decide if the penalty is appropriate, the ACCC said, but the cooperation between the regulator and Google has helped avoid lengthy litigation. A Google spokesperson said the company was pleased to resolve the ACCC's concerns which involved 'provisions that haven't been in our commercial agreements for some time'. 'We are committed to providing Android device makers more flexibility to pre-load browsers and search apps, while preserving the offerings and features that help them innovate, compete with Apple, and keep costs low,' the spokesperson added. A Telstra spokesperson referred Reuters to an earlier statement saying it and Optus, owned by Singapore Telecommunications, had fully cooperated with the ACCC and promised not to sign agreements with Google to pre-install its search product since 2024. SingTel was not immediately available for comment.
