Sanitation, sewerage, road sweeping, and development works constitute 78.4% of the total pending complaints.
Across the city's four zones, unresolved sanitation-related grievances amount to 5,526 complaints. The engineering department of the civic body has 5,961 outstanding sewerage complaints awaiting resolution.
Moreover, there are 2,221 unaddressed complaints about road sweeping operations. The engineering department also has a backlog of 7,712 complaints regarding development works.
On Wednesday, MCG constituted a grievance redressal cell to address complaints received across various govt platforms.
"We have constituted a grievance redressal cell. It will focus only on resolving these complaints and minimising the pendency in redressal," said a senior MCG official.
The newly formed cell will be headed by MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya and will have additional commissioner Ravinder Yadav, joint commissioner Vishal, deputy town planner Siddharth S Khandelwal and MCG expert Anita Phalswal as members.
Meanwhile, according to residents, one of the causes for an increasing number of complaints is delay in appointing an agency for drain cleaning. "We have filed several complaints on these issues, but they remain unaddressed. Moreover, the civic body is yet to initiate tenders for drain cleaning across the city. As the monsoon approaches, these complaints are likely to shoot up," said Kundan Lal Sharma, general secretary of Sector 21 RWA.

Gurgaon: Minister for urban local bodies (ULB) Vipul Goel on Wednesday directed MCG officials to clear three lakh metric tonnes of construction and demolition (C&D) waste lying on roads and public areas within a month. Chief principal secretary to the CM Rajesh Khullar was also present at the meeting, held at PWD rest house. The ULB minister told corporation officials to ensure effective and swift action regarding stray cattle roaming on roads and public places, asking them to send them to cow shelters. Goel said, "Noticeable changes should be visible in this direction within the next 15 days. A special WhatsApp helpline number should be issued for citizens to report stray cattle and abandoned animals." "Rewards will be announced for those providing information. Moreover, an incentive scheme will be implemented for sanitation workers, where employees capturing animals and handing them over to the relevant agency will be rewarded," he added. The minister said all officials should work in a "timely and result-oriented manner" to establish Gurgaon's image as a clean and orderly city. Officials said currently, around 5,000 cows and 1,500 bulls roam freely in the city. Kamdhenu and Nandidham shelters, operated by the municipal corporation, have the capacity to accommodate an additional 5,00 cows and 500 bulls. Khullar instructed officials to arrange for cow shelters at two other locations to ensure the safekeeping of animals as soon as possible. Earlier, Khullar, who held a meeting with the MCG, GMDA officials, directed them to ensure that no garbage, polythene or debris should be visible on the city roads and an effective action plan should be implemented for this. He said Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini has given clear instructions to make Gurgaon a better city and the govt "was fully committed to this goal". On the issue of stray animals, he urged the concerned officials to "take immediate and concrete steps". MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said works were carried out at 153 potential waterlogging sites. To provide relief during the rainy season, the corporation set up a special call centre with 15 operators and upon receiving information, the drainage team reaches the site. To resolve sewage issues, the corporation has formed a sewage monitoring cell, which has identified 40 problematic areas and has a plan for their permanent resolution. New tender The commissioner said a new tender for door-to-door waste collection will be opened on Aug 18. Currently, 250 vehicles are collecting garbage door-to-door, the commissioner claimed. Emphasis has been placed on implementing waste management systems in bulk waste generators and govt department colonies. Khullar was also informed at the meeting that a plant is operational in Basai for C&D waste management and there are plans to establish another plant with a capacity of 400 tonnes per day. Residents force authorities to remove ‘illegal' circle in NIBM Annexe area
Pune: Residents of the NIBM Annexe area on Wednesday made the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) remove a huge traffic circle at the Raheja Vista chowk, in coordination with traffic police. Jaymala Dhankikar, a social worker and resident, said the circle measuring around 10.5 metres had been constructed with the help of bollards, which resulted in vehicles, especially four-wheelers, finding it very difficult to manoeuver the roundabout. "After the construction of roads around the area, PMC engineers suddenly built this circle without any explanation. We contacted the civic body and then Kondhwa traffic police. Police, after an inspection, agreed that the roundabout was not required and no permission had been sought from them by PMC to construct it," Dhankikar said. "A police team visited the spot on Tuesday late evening. On Wednesday, PMC officials came and we had a heated argument with them. The officials then removed the bollards. It was built also without any basic engineering," she said. Maruti Patil, police inspector of Kondhwa traffic police, said the PMC-made circle was a problem. "The residents had not made any formal complaint but had informed us over the phone. We spoke to deputy engineer (road construction) of PMC and requested him to take our permission before venturing on such projects. The circle had three slopes and when one travelled, clear visual confirmation became a problem. PMC said the bollards had been constructed on an experimental basis but they were removed this afternoon. A joint survey will be carried out by police and PMC on ways to go forward," the officer told TOI. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
