Canadian YouTuber Lauren Southern alleges Andrew Tate strangled and raped her while she was unconscious
Lauren Southern
has accused
Andrew Tate
of sexually assaulting and strangling her in a hotel room in 2018. The allegations were made in her newly released memoir,
This Is Not Real Life
, and further detailed on her Substack page.
Southern says the incident occurred in February 2018, during a trip to
Romania
. She was there with British far-right activist Tommy Robinson to discuss a potential media venture with the
Tate brothers
. According to her account, Andrew Tate invited her to dinner, complimented her work, and later took her to a nightclub. She claims she had only one cocktail and a shot of liquor before becoming severely intoxicated and vomiting. Someone carried her to the bathroom, and she was later driven back to her hotel by Tate, who then carried her to her room.
'He asked me to sleep beside him,' she writes. 'I said yes. I was incredibly intoxicated.' She claims he kissed her unexpectedly, and while she briefly kissed back, she made it clear that she only wanted to sleep.

'He wanted to go further. I said no, very clearly, multiple times, and tried to pull his hands off me,' she says. 'He put his arm around my neck and began strangling me unconscious. I tried to fight back. He repeatedly strangled me every time I regained enough consciousness to pull at his arms.'
Southern says she did not report the incident to police immediately but later contacted UK authorities, who informed her that the case could only be pursued in Romania. She also visited a women's hospital for a medical examination about a week later. She says she kept quiet for years, feeling trapped by her anti-feminist image and the belief that she wouldn't be believed.
Live Events
This account adds to the growing list of legal troubles facing Andrew Tate. The British-American influencer is already facing 10 criminal charges in the UK, including rape, assault, and coercive control. His brother Tristan faces 11 charges. Both are also under investigation in Romania for human trafficking and
rape
related to their alleged operation of a 'sex cam' business.
Tate has denied all previous allegations and has not publicly responded to Southern's claims. His legal team has not issued a statement.
Southern ends her account by reflecting on the broader culture of impunity around powerful men. 'This wasn't a case of mixed signals,' she writes. 'I fought back. I was pleading.'

Three men guilty of accessory to the murder of Swedish rapper C.Gambino, court rules
(Adds detail on verdict in paragraphs 1 and 3-7, background in 2 and 4, lawyers in 8) STOCKHOLM, July 16 (Reuters) - A Swedish court found three men guilty of accessory to the murder last year of the award-winning hip-hop artist known by the alias it said on Wednesday. The Swedish artist, who kept his identity hidden and wore a mask in public, was shot dead in a parking garage in June 2024 in a suspected gang-related attack in Gothenburg on the Nordic country's west coast. The men - Hassan Rabeie, 22, Vide Atterstam, 20, and Fatjam Vardari, 21 - have denied the charges against them, according to Swedish media. Rabeie and Vardari had been charged with murder, or alternatively accessory to murder, but the Gothenburg District Court said in a statement that the investigation had not established beyond reasonable doubt that they were the ones who actually shot the rapper. As a result, all three were convicted of accessory to murder. The court sentenced Rabeie to life imprisonment. The other two were sentenced to 15 years and six months, and 12 years and six months, respectively. "The shooting has had the character of a pure execution and has entailed severe suffering for the victim," the court said. "The crime has its background in a conflict between criminal networks." The lawyer representing Atterstam told Reuters the verdict was disappointing and declined to comment further. Rabeie's and Vardari's lawyers were not immediately available for comment when contacted by Reuters. The late rapper is not to be confused with American artist Childish Gambino. Pakistan back to its dirty tricks after Op Sindoor pause, restarts drone drug drops deeper into Punjab
After remaining largely inactive following Operation Sindoor , Pakistani drug smugglers have resumed cross-border activity, now employing more powerful drones capable of evading Border Security Force (BSF) detection. These upgraded drones are flying deeper into Indian territory with increased accuracy, presenting renewed challenges for border security. 'Post Op Sindoor, there was a temporary lull in cross-border drone intrusions. However, these activities have now resumed with greater precision as Pakistani smugglers are deploying drones that penetrate deeper into Indian territory to drop drugs, arms and ammunition,' BSF Deputy Inspector General AK Vidyarthi was quoted by TOI. Recently, drones have been observed flying 2 to 2.5 kilometres or more inside Indian territory, significantly increasing the risk zone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo Tactics include high-altitude flights and evasive flight paths To avoid detection near the border, drone pilots fly at higher altitudes before descending into Indian airspace. Once inside, they follow zigzag routes to evade radar and surveillance. Drones are sometimes deliberately crashed after deliveries to avoid retrieval, sources told TOI. Broader focus of Operation Sindoor temporarily reduced smuggling 'During Op Sindoor, priorities were broader — it wasn't just about curbing cross-border smuggling but more about preventing drone and missile attacks,' a source was reported by TOI as saying. The decline in smuggling then was partly due to the lack of local operatives on the Indian side to retrieve consignments. Live Events Technological gap hampers Indian response According to TOI, Pakistani smugglers have upgraded to more advanced Chinese drones, while India's anti-drone systems remain limited. Detection relies mainly on sound or visual spotting, prompting anti-drone teams to intervene. Effective interceptors, capable of tracking drone details in real time, are not yet widely deployed. Increased BSF patrols push drones deeper inside India Following Operation Sindoor, intensified BSF patrolling has made near-border drops difficult. Smugglers now send drones deeper into Indian territory, placing receivers farther from patrols and reducing chances of detection.
