
FITUR 2026 launches Knowledge Hub for tourism's future
FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, will take place from January 21 to 25, 2026 at IFEMA MADRID.
The event aims to define the foundations of a sustainable tourism sector that generates wealth and employment.
FITUR 2026 has announced the creation of the Knowledge Hub, which will be located in Hall 12 at the Madrid venue.
During professional days, experts from around the world will gather to present proposals, share experiences, and disseminate best practices in the tourism industry.
The Knowledge Hub will have direct access from IFEMA MADRID's South Entrance and will be interconnected with other pavilions through Hall 4.
It will host sections such as FITUR TechY, FITUR Know-How & Export, FITUR Sports, the FITURNEXT Observatory, and the Travel Technology area.
María Valcarce, Director of FITUR, emphasised that 'after a 2025 edition in which the Fair exceeded expectations with record figures, in 2026, with Mexico as Partner Country, we are taking a new step that will reinforce FITUR's global leadership; its relevance in activating the global tourism market; and its role in promoting knowledge and innovation oriented toward a renewed and sustainable tourism model.'

Ifema Madrid's 2024 revenues hit $257m
Ifema Madrid has announced its economic and activity results for 2024. The institution recorded revenues of €230.2 million ($257 million), 30% higher than in 2023, with the highest billing to date. The main growth driver was the trade fair business, with major fairs such as Fitur, Fruit Attraction, Genera, Sicur, Expodental, Construction Week, and Environment Week performing exceptionally well. In 2024, IFEMA MADRID also showed favorable performance across its various business lines, with a 23.89% increase in total events held. The institution hosted 740 events, including 100 fairs and congresses (30 digital), 58 music and entertainment proposals, and 578 professional conventions and meetings. Additionally, the institution organised 4 fairs outside Spain. The MICE sector at Ifema Madrid hosted 16 events, attracting nearly 83,000 attendees, including important international congresses like the World Hemophilia Congress and the European Diabetes Congress. 2024 was a pivotal year in Ifema Madrid's international development, with the successful debut of Fruit Attraction São Paulo in Brazil, Motortec Chile in Santiago de Chile, ESS+ in Colombia, and ARCOlisboa in May. As part of its digital transformation strategy, Ifema Madrid continued to enhance the functionalities of its LIVE Connect platform, welcoming 390,566 visitor users and 25,701 exhibitor users. The platform facilitated 189,257 contacts that generated 43,220 business leads for exhibitors, a 73% increase from 2023. Investments totaling €13.4 million were made in 2024, focusing on various technological applications such as CRM implementation, IoT network, Lora Network, Web 3.0 project, platforms for DataDriven, digital fairs and events, and demand and service management. Ifema Madrid demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and combating climate change, achieving its goal of zero emissions. The institution began individually analysing the carbon footprint generated during its events in 2024, resulting in a 91.88% reduction in its carbon footprint.

Visit Qatar showcases offerings to global audience at Fitur
Visit Qatar led a delegation of 10 hospitality and corporate partners at Fitru 2025, the premier global meeting point for tourism professionals focusing on Spanish and Latin American markets. The five-day event, held from January 22 to 26 at IFEMA Madrid, provided Visit Qatar with a platform to present the latest tourism developments and offerings in the country to a global audience. This year's edition also featured over 100 leading companies showcasing innovative solutions designed to advance the global tourism industry. Visit Qatar's participation underscores its commitment to highlighting Qatar's rich cultural heritage and tourism offerings, further strengthening its presence in Spanish and Latin American markets. By engaging with key stakeholders at FITUR, Visit Qatar continues to position itself as a top global destination, said the organisation. This year's booth featured Qatar Airways as a corporate partner and included hospitality partners from Qatar's leading hotels and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) such as W Doha Hotel and Residences, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort and Villa, Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha, Mondrian Doha, Sharq Village& Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, The Outpost Al Barari. DMC partners included Discover Qatar, 365 Adventures, and Al Jaber DMC. A major component of Fitur 2025 was highlighting the various sectors influencing the tourism landscape, including technology, cruise tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), sports, and more.
