Fans React to Timothee Chalamet Announcement During Knicks-Pacers Game 6
Fans React to Timothee Chalamet Announcement During Knicks-Pacers Game 6 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the New York Knicks play, the stars come out. Ben Stiller, Larry David, Bad Bunny, and, of course, Spike Lee are all regulars courtside, although the Knicks travel very well, bringing their most famous fans on the road with them. Advertisement This season, especially in this postseason, actor Timothée Chalamet has been a staple courtside, and in Game 6 in Indianapolis against the Pacers, it was no exception, as he was sitting behind the basket in the first row. Actor and New York Knicks fan Timothee Chalamet cheers while sitting courtside.© Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images While Chalamet wasn't the only star in the building (Caitlin Clark was there to cheer on the Pacers), he represents a younger generation of Knicks fans who expect the best from their team. The NBA is driven by its stars, with players like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant shouldering the league for decades, but the league opted to capitalize on Chalamet, who is a different kind of superstar. Chalamet and Jenner have been involved in a relationship for two years, and the couple has been courtside at every game of the Eastern Conference Finals, prompting reactions from fans. Advertisement "He fr got Kylie Jenner in Indianapolis on a Saturday night," posted a fan. "They're going to be in tears by the end of the night," posted another, as the Pacers took a commanding lead. "Bro willingly got her to come to INDIANA," joked another. "He's the one." Of course, not everyone cared for the celebrity update. "We follow NBA for the action not for the actors," pointed out a fan, while others offered a very simple "noboy cares." The NBA is a league of stars, and as long as the Association gets attention and engagement, expect them to put A-listers front and center. Knicks Players, Coaches Had Major Karl-Anthony Towns Complaints During Season
Knicks Players, Coaches Had Major Karl-Anthony Towns Complaints During Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Knicks traded for Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges last offseason with the hopes that they could, after 26 years, finally make the NBA Finals. Advertisement They got close, falling to the Indiana Pacers in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. While New York had the talent (but not the depth) to keep up with the Pacers, their effort all season had been questioned. While Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Bridges seemed to fit perfectly with Jalen Brunson in Tom Thibodeau's system, Towns was the odd man out, despite his undeniable talents. Rebilas-Imagn Images Towns Showed No Effort on Defense In the postseason, Towns' offensive efficiency and scoring numbers took a slight hit, but it was nothing too serious. However, on defense, he didn't look bought in, which quickly wore down his teammates and coaching staff. Advertisement "Publicly, Knicks players made veiled comments all season about poor communication causing their inconsistencies," reported The Athletic's James Edwards III (subscription required). "Behind the scenes, they and coaches expressed frustration with Towns' defensive habits — less concerned with his talent level and more with his process on that end. Too often, Towns executed incorrect coverages without communicating why he did it. After it became a theme, players worried Towns didn't grasp the importance of the matter." In the postseason, Jalen Duren shot 71.4 percent when guarded by Towns in the first round, and Luke Kornet shot 83.3 percent when guarded by him in the second round. In the Conference Finals, Myles Turner shot only 56 percent from the floor and 31.8 percent from deep, and Towns held him to 0-for-6 shooting from deep, although his interior defense was suspect at best all season long. Advertisement As the Knicks look to retool and make another Finals push next season, KAT is already the odd man out and has already been included in trade rumors. New York Knicks Break Silence After Playoff Loss to Pacers
New York Knicks Break Silence After Playoff Loss to Pacers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Knicks lost a hard-fought series to the Indiana Pacers, falling in six games and getting eliminated before they could make the NBA Finals. Advertisement The Pacers snapped a 25-season Finals drought and are looking for their first title in franchise history. The Knicks, meanwhile, have not appeared in the Finals in 26 seasons and last won in 1973. After adding Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges this offseason, the Knicks had very real title hopes and managed to beat the defending champion Boston Celtics in the second round before losing to the Pacers. After getting eliminated on Saturday, New York waited over 12 hours to send a message to fans. Miles McBride and Jalen Brunson.© Wendell Cruz-Imagn Images While some fans chalked the season up as a success, as evidenced by "#NewYorkForever" trending on social media in the final minutes of the game, the reality is this team, especially after beating Boston, had very real title hopes and simply came up short. Advertisement Still, going on the deepest playoff run since 2000 (where they also lost to the Pacers!) is no easy feat, and the Knicks broke their silence. While the comments and quotes had the usual unsolicited advice from fans who think they know more than the front office, most of the feedback was shockingly positive, especially since the Knicks lost to a bitter rival after blowing a 17-point lead in Game 1 and going only 1-2 in front of their home fans at Madison Square Garden during the series. The Knicks have their cast of stars all under contract for next season, so they could run things back, although trade rumors are starting to pick up, and it stands to reason that the roster will undergo some changes.
