American Doctor: Israel Deliberately Targets Children
In her testimony published on the 'Humans of New York' blog, Dourani documented the siege and starvation imposed by the Israeli occupation, along with continuous bombardment and severe injuries to children.
Dourani stated that the Israeli occupation imposed strict restrictions even on the amount of food she could bring in, limiting her to seven pounds only.
She questioned, 'I am a doctor working in humanitarian aid; why is there even a limit on food? I have worked in areas with severe hunger, but Gaza shows unprecedented cruelty.'
Describing her experience, she said, 'I stayed in Gaza for two months and found no words to describe the horror happening there. I see children dying in the pediatric intensive care unit as part of my job.'
She added that the medical staff are working while hungry and exhausted, some living in tents, with many having lost dozens of family members due to Israeli bombardment.
Regarding the children's injuries, she said, 'There are children with mutilations, missing limbs, and third-degree burns. Often, there isn't enough pain medication. But the children do not scream because of pain, they scream, 'I'm hungry! I'm hungry!''
Dourani expressed deep sorrow, saying, 'I hate focusing only on the children because no one should starve, but children chase you differently.'
At the end of her mission in Gaza, her sadness was evident, describing a feeling she had not experienced in nearly twenty years of humanitarian work.
She expressed shame at leaving Palestinian doctors, whom she described as some of the kindest and most compassionate people she has ever met.
'I felt ashamed as an American, as a human being, because we could not stop any part of this genocide,' she said.
She recalled leaving southern Gaza, describing the last view from her bus window: 'All I saw of Rafah city was rubble, while on the other side, 'Israel' was enjoying life! When we left the gate, the first thing I saw was a group of Israeli soldiers sitting at a table eating lunch. I have never felt nauseous seeing a table full of food before.'
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been enduring a comprehensive genocide affecting all aspects of life, under a severe siege and strict restrictions on food and medical aid entry, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
The World Health Organization has called for the immediate reopening of crossings and unimpeded humanitarian aid access, stressing that saving civilians' lives in Gaza require urgent international action.
The United Nations has confirmed that Gaza needs hundreds of aid trucks daily to end the famine caused by the ongoing siege and genocide, lasting 22 months.

Pregnant Women Face Daily Life-Threatening Risks in Gaza
DaysofPal- Pregnant women and their unborn children in Gaza are living under severe, life-threatening conditions due to malnutrition, lack of medical care, and the ongoing Israeli blockade and genocide, according to Munir Al-Borsh, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza. Al-Borsh explained that more than 55,000 pregnant women in Gaza are suffering from acute deficiencies in essential nutrients such as iron, calcium, and folic acid. The lack of a balanced diet has caused widespread severe anemia among expectant mothers, leaving them physically weakened and highly vulnerable to dangerous bleeding during childbirth. He also warned that folic acid deficiencies put fetuses at serious risk of congenital malformations, particularly in the nervous system. 'The fetuses in Gaza are being born into empty wombs, trapped by hunger, anxiety, and a lack of proper care,' Al-Borsh said. Moreover, he emphasized that the war has not only destroyed hospitals and medical facilities but has also forced pregnant women into shelters, camps, and inadequate homes where they cannot receive proper prenatal care. Since March 2, 2025, the Israeli occupation forces have closed all crossings into Gaza, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, whereas aid trucks remain stuck at the borders, and the small amounts allowed in fail to meet even the most basic needs of the population. Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military actions in Gaza, backed by the United States, have resulted in a humanitarian catastrophe, including more than 61,599 Palestinian deaths, 154,088 injuries, over 9,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands of displaced people, and widespread famine. Furthermore, the Israeli-made famine alone has killed 227 people, including 103 children. Al-Borsh stressed the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian aid access and proper protection of civilians, especially pregnant women and children, highlighting the compounded risks they face amid hunger, displacement, and ongoing military attacks. 8 More Civilians Die from Starvation in Gaza
DaysofPal- The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Wednesday that eight people, including three children, have died in the past 24 hours due to hunger and malnutrition, which raises the total death toll from famine and malnutrition in Gaza to 235, with 106 children among the victims. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire, as the territory suffers one of the worst crises in its history. Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been under Israeli blockade and a genocidal campaign by the Israeli occupation. The Israeli occupation forces continue to impose a policy of starvation and prevent adequate food supplies from entering the region. Humanitarian aid that does arrive is often distributed unfairly, forcing desperate residents to scramble for food like zombies, with only the strongest able to secure it. Many are shot or injured while attempting to obtain aid, and local organizations attempting to protect and fairly distribute supplies are reportedly targeted by Israeli forces. Since March 2, 2025, all crossings into Gaza have been closed, leaving thousands without sufficient food. Despite trucks of aid waiting at the borders, only limited quantities are allowed to enter, insufficient to meet the basic needs of the population. This ongoing genocide and starvation by Israeli occupation highlights the severe consequences of the blockade and raises urgent concerns about the humanitarian needs of Gaza's civilian population.
