Reports: Suspension reduced for Padres' Robert Suarez
June 25 - San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez will begin serving a reduced two-game suspension on Wednesday, multiple outlets reported.
Suarez, 34, originally received a three-game ban from Major League Baseball for intentionally hitting Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani on Thursday. Suarez dropped his appeal after the suspension was reduced, per the reports.
Padres manager Mike Shildt and Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts earned one-game suspensions for their roles in the conclusion to a contentious series.
Suarez also was fined for beaning Ohtani in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was in response to Dodgers rookie Jack Little hitting San Diego star Fernando Tatis Jr. with a pitch in the top of that inning, which prompted a benches-clearing incident with pushing and shoving.
The Padres won that game 5-3 to avoid getting swept in the four-game series in Los Angeles.
Suarez, an All-Star in 2024, is 2-3 with a 3.51 ERA and a National League-leading 22 saves in 35 games this season. The right-hander has a career record of 20-10 with a 3.01 ERA and 59 saves in 171 appearances (no starts) since his MLB debut with the Padres in 2022.
Suarez will sit out Wednesday's home matinee against the Washington Nationals and Friday's series opener versus the host Cincinnati Reds.

Diletta Leotta shows off sideboob as ‘fantastic and beautiful' DAZN host goes braless to present Club World Cup
DILETTA LEOTTA whipped up a frenzy at a Club World Cup ripped up by storms. And this time it was her fans who were suspended - in awe! 17 17 Half a dozen CWC fixtures have been halted by thunder, lightning and rain Stateside, despite the sizzling heat. So the DAZN presenter' s 9.2million Instagram followers were grateful for Diletta sharing serene snaps. The wife of ex-Liverpool keeper Loris Karius is covering the controversial 64-team tournament. And she chose a backless, sleeveless white top for her pics as she wrote: " Club World Cup Show! Let's go." Diletta also ditched her bra - but hopefully not her brolly, given the downpours besetting the CWC. The Italian opted for pinstripe black trousers as she shared behind-the-scenes pics and clips from the studio. At one point she winked to the camera - just one reason likes for her post soared beyond 100,000. And whereas the weather in the USA for the CWC might have been unpredictable, the opposite is true for the reaction to Diletta 's snaps. Amid all the much-expected excitement, the 33-year-old was called "quite possibly the prettiest human being I have ever seen!" And as the tournament approaches the midway mark, all bets were off for one admirer. Diletta Leotta steals show in daring red dress before changing into glamorous white outfit for Club World Cup opener He told Diletta: "You've already won the world." More foreseeable fervour flowed in as she was praised for doing a "brilliant job". One observer suggested "It's going to be cool with this top" after surveying Diletta's minimal blouse. "Fantastic and beautiful" as well as "gorgeous" were other verdicts. Just days earlier Diletta had shared a fun contrast to her elegant studio look - as she posed in a bikini in a Miami swimming pool. She was floating on an inflatable pink flamingo. Which surely proves anyone ridiculous enough to say her pics lack variety barely has a leg to stand on. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
