A YOUNG man has been airlifted to hospital after he was seriously injured in a single-vehicle collision yesterday.
The crash took place on the L1029 road at Deerpark, Lixnaw, Co Kerry at approximately 5.40pm.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 5.40pm following reports of the single-vehicle collision.
The driver of the car, an adult male aged in his late teens, who was sole occupant of the car, was airlifted to Cork University Hospital.
It is understood that he is being treated for "serious injuries."
The extent of his injuries is not known at this time.
Gardaí have carried out an examination of the scene and the road has now been reopened.
In a statement this afternoon, a spokesperson for the force urged anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the L1029 road at Deerpark, Lixnaw, Co Kerry which occurred yesterday, Saturday 2nd August 2025.
"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
"Any road users who may have dashcam and were travelling in the area between 5.15pm and 5.45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí."
They added: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Listowel Garda Station on (068) 50820, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

It comes after a man and a woman were rushed to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Co. Donegal.
The collision took place on the Main Street of Kerrykeel village in Co Donegal shortly before 11am yesterday morning.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 10:45am after receiving reports of the two-car crash.
The driver of a car, a man in his 40s, was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital in a condition understood to be serious.
His passenger, a girl in her late teens, did not require immediate hospital treatment after being assessed at the crash scene.
The driver of the second car involved in the crash, a woman who is aged in her 70s, was also taken to hospital for assessment.
The extent of her injuries is not known at this time.
Gardaí have sealed off the main street of the village and have started an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
In a statement this afternoon, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Milford are appealing for witnesses following a two-vehicle collision in Kerrykeel, County Donegal, on Saturday, 2nd of August 2025.
"Gardaí are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant camera footage, including dashcam, from the area at the time to come forward."

The 33-year-old, who is originally from Co Carlow but was living in Manhattan, graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) and later completed a masters degree in digital marketing in Smurfit Business School. 'The preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, which will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office.' The business partner of a young Irish fashion designer found dead on a yacht in the US has posted a heartwarming tribute to her on social media following her death. The founder of fashion label East x East, Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra, was discovered unconscious at midnight onboard a boat docked at the Montauk Yacht Club. People rushed out and made attempts to save her life, but East Hampton Town Police later pronounced her dead at the scene. Two men arrested after 'large-scale cannabis cultivation factory' dismantled

Two men have been arrested after Gardaí seized cannabis plants worth over €750,000 in a 'large-scale cannabis cultivation factory'. As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs, Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team and Drogheda searched a premises in Louth and found a large-scale cannabis cultivation factory. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of more than €750,000 were sized. Two men, aged in their 40s, were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained at Garda Stations in the north east of the country under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Gardaí said investigations are ongoing. Commenting on the investigation, Assistant Commissioner Cliona Richardson said: "The discovery and dismantling of this sophisticated cannabis cultivation operation will affect the ability of those involved to cause harm in our communities. 'The investigation – led by the Dublin Crime Response Team under Operation Tara and assisted by local Gardaí in Drogheda – demonstrates An Garda Síochána's commitment to collaboratively target drug trafficking networks and related criminal activity occurring in and impacting not only Dublin but other Regions throughout the country.' This seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by former Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on July 2, 2021. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels – international, national, local – involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
