The inside story of Kim Kardashian's infamous robbery to be explored in new documentary coming to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer
Featuring interviews with friends of the family, police officers and journalists who have followed the case, the documentary takes viewers back to that fateful night when the US reality TV star was robbed of millions of dollars' worth of jewellery in Paris at gunpoint nearly ten years ago. The BBC can now reveal new detail and insight into what happened and follow the story up to Kim facing her robbers in court last month, where eight people were found guilty.
The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist will air on BBC Three and BBC One later this month. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
Nasfim Haque, Head of Content at BBC Three, says: "This documentary offers an insight into one of the most publicised celebrity crimes of our time committed on one of the most famous women on the planet which will delve into the facts behind the gossip and explore the price of fame in the digital age."
Firecracker Creative Director, Sam Emmery says: 'This is one of the most high-profile robberies of the digital age, with social media said to have played a part in the heist. The film is an opportunity to show how the perpetrators were eventually brought to justice and the lasting impact the ordeal had on its victim, Kim Kardashian.'
The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist is a 1x45 documentary produced by Firecracker Films for the BBC. The commissioners are Nasfim Haque for BBC Three, and Joanna Carr for BBC Current Affairs. The BBC commissioning editor is Mark Harrison.
Firecracker Chief Creative Officer Jes Wilkins and Firecracker Creative Director Sam Emmery are the Executive Producers, with Ben Bryant as Director and Jessica Sartenaer as Producer. The programme was developed by Kirsty Calvert-Ansari and Julie Scott is the Head of Production. It will be distributed by Passion Distribution.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch says Josef Fritzl case made her ‘reject God'
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has revealed the case of Austrian sex offender Josef Fritzl caused her to lose faith in God. Mrs Badenoch said she was 'never that religious' while growing up but 'believed there was a God' and 'would have defined myself as a Christian apologist'. But this changed in 2008 when she read reports that Fritzl had imprisoned and repeatedly raped his daughter, Elisabeth, in his basement over 24 years. Mrs Badenoch, whose maternal grandfather was a Methodist minister, told the BBC: 'I couldn't stop reading this story. And I read her account, how she prayed every day to be rescued. 'And I thought, I was praying for all sorts of stupid things and I was getting my prayers answered. I was praying to have good grades, my hair should grow longer, and I would pray for the bus to come on time so I wouldn't miss something. 'It's like, why were those prayers answered and not this woman's prayers? And it just, it was like someone blew out a candle.' But she insisted that while she had 'rejected God', she had not rejected Christianity and remained a 'cultural Christian', saying she wanted to 'protect certain things because I think the world that we have in the UK is very much built on many Christian values'. During her interview, which is due to be broadcast on Thursday evening, Mrs Badenoch also said her tenure as Conservative leader was going 'well', adding her job was to 'make sure that people can see that we are the only party on the centre-right'. In an apparent dig at Nigel Farage's Reform UK, she said: 'There are pretenders. We're the only party on the centre-right, and we're the only ones who still believe in values like living within our means, personal responsibility, making sure that the government is not getting involved in everything so it can focus on the things it needs to look at, like securing our borders.' She went on to defend previous comments saying the fact she had worked at McDonald's made her working class, saying: 'I had to work to live. 'That, for me, is what being working class is. It's the lifestyle that you have. You have to work, to survive.' And she argued that parents who were 'worried about their children getting stolen or snatched' had created a younger generation that lacked the 'resilience' to deal with problems in life. Responding to figures suggesting a quarter of people aged 16-24 said they had a mental disorder, Mrs Badenoch said: 'I think they think they have a mental disorder, I don't think they all have a mental disorder.' She added: 'I'm not a medical expert so it is not my expertise on exactly what we need to do to get them into work, but we should be trying to get them into work.'

Tis but a stamp: Royal Mail set celebrates Monty Python favourite scenes
A set of 10 stamps from Royal Mail will pay tribute to 'one of Britain's most influential and enduring comedy troupes' – Monty Python. The main collection of six stamps celebrates characters from Monty Python's Flying Circus, the BBC TV series which ran from 1969 to 1974 with sketches so popular, generations of fans can still recite all the lines. The stamps showcase highlights including the Spanish Inquisition, the Ministry Of Silly Walks, the Lumberjack Song, the Dead Parrot Sketch, Nudge Nudge, and Spam. Formed in 1969, Monty Python was one of the UK's best-known comedy troupes, made up of comics Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Sir Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. Presented in a miniature sheet, and in honour of 50 years of the cult 1975 film, Monty Python And The Holy Grail, a further four stamps celebrate the film. Scenes featured on the stamps include The Black Knight's defiant ''Tis but a scratch!', King Arthur and his knights receiving their divine quest, and Sir Robin's encounter with the Three-Headed Giant: 'You're lucky, you're not next to him!' Sir Michael said, with a reference to a character from Monty Python's Flying Circus: 'Very glad to share a stamp with the nude organist!'. David Gold, Royal Mail's director of external affairs and policy, said: 'Monty Python has left an indelible mark on global comedy, all while remaining unmistakably British at its core. 'From their groundbreaking television debut to a string of iconic films, this stamp collection honours a body of work that has shaped the comedic landscape for nearly six decades.' The group followed their TV work by making a series of films including 1979's Life Of Brian, the story of a man who was mistaken for Jesus; and 1983's The Meaning Of Life. Idle, 82, created the medieval musical Spamalot, which earned a Tony award for best musical after its Broadway run. Chapman died of tonsil cancer in 1989 aged 48, while Jones died from a rare form of dementia in 2020, aged 77. The stamps, and a range of collectible products, are available to pre-order from August 7 and go on general sale from August 14.
