City of Sioux City announces another year of litter clean-up campaign
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The City of Sioux City is bringing back a litter clean-up campaign as we head into the spring season.
City residents are encouraged to make the '25on25' pledge and commit to picking up 25 pieces of trash on the 25th of each month in 2025. The campaign is another installment of what's become an annual effort, with the name, amount of trash and date adjusting each year. For example, last year's campaign was known as '24on24.'
Power restored to Onawa, city says
The first day of this year's campaign will be Tuesday, March 25.
The campaign's goal is to reduce the amount of trash on the ground within the city and in the water in local rivers, streams, and lakes.
The city is offering litter collection supplies for those who want to take part. Those can be picked up at the Environmental Services Office on the 4th floor of City Hall, the Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department in the Seaboard Triumph Foods Expo Center, the Downtown Partners office at 1119 4th Street Suite 104, and the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce at 101 Pierce Street.

Anyone who chooses to participate is encouraged to send photos of their clean-up efforts on the 25th of each month to Arah Montagne (amontagne@sioux-city.org). Photos may be featured on the city's social media platforms.

Colonel Adam Carlson was installed as the new wing commander; he takes command from Colonel Sonya Morrison as she departs on her new mission as the Air National Guard Readiness Center Inspector General at Andrews Air Force Base. 'Although I have done three tours out in the nation's capital, I consider myself a member of the 185th, you know, enlisted here 25 years ago. It's kind of a family affair. You still see a lot of the same faces, so same mission said, so it should be a fairly easy transition,' commented Colonel Adam Carlson. The mission of the 185th Air Refueling Wing is to provide ready Airmen to support global strategic competition, nuclear deterrence, and aerial refueling across federal and state missions.
