"The massive crowd at the Mahrozgar Mela is not just a gathering but a message--that the youth of Bihar no longer want speeches, but employment to shape their future. The way the BJP and Nitish government have plunged Bihar into the fire of unemployment, lakhs of youths are forced to migrate for livelihood, leaving behind their village, their family... everything," said
Leader of Opposition
(LoP) in the

Emphasising the importance of local job opportunities, Gandhi added that the Congress and the INDIA alliance were focused on finding solutions rather than making empty promises.
"The youth of Bihar are hardworking, capable, and talented--they only need local and respectable employment. Now, the beginning of change has arrived. Congress and the INDIA alliance are not just bringing promises, but solutions. Our focus is clear--rights to skills, employment for every youth, stopping migration, keeping every family together," he said.

The Youth Congress also posted on X, saying that the turnout at the employment fair reflected the seriousness of the state's unemployment crisis. "After Jaipur and Delhi, this was another effort of ours so that qualified youths could get job opportunities through the employment fair," it said.
Meanwhile,
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar
recently announced several measures to address public welfare and job creation. On Friday, Kumar said that electricity would be provided free of charge across Bihar. He also mentioned that the government had approved Rs 50,000 crore for 430 new schemes to benefit the people.
"During the previous government's tenure, there was no electricity. There was electricity for only eight hours, even in Patna. We managed all of it. Consumers used to pay a significant amount of money for their electricity bills. We have decided that electricity will be provided for free. We will hold a cabinet meeting and will decide on the same today itself," Kumar said, while addressing a gathering in Motihari in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He further promised, "We have already given 10 lakh government jobs to youth and are working to provide more. In the coming five years, we will decide on providing jobs to one crore youth."
Kumar also announced that the state government would increase the pension amount for differently abled persons, senior citizens, and widows to Rs 1,100 per month.

What do the Epstein files reveal about Donald Trump? Here's the latest
In Washington, U.S. lawmakers have escalated pressure on the Justice Department over the Jeffrey Epstein files following multiple emerging developments: Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly informed Donald Trump in May that his name appears in internal Epstein records; Republicans ended a House session early amid internal conflict over a vote on pressing DOJ disclosures; and Justice Department officials met with imprisoned Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell to explore possible leads. Against this backdrop, bipartisan calls have intensified for Bondi to testify before Congress Also Read: Republican rumblings: on Trump and the Epstein files What is the background of the Jeffrey Epstein case? Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide in a federal jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. He was previously convicted in 2008 in Florida for soliciting a minor, serving a controversial sentence that allowed him work release. Epstein's re-arrest in 2019 reignited public scrutiny over how he operated an alleged trafficking ring for years, often involving underage girls, with little accountability. Since his death, questions have remained about the extent of his connections, including to prominent global figures, and whether U.S. authorities have withheld critical information. In February 2025, the DOJ released an initial batch of declassified documents, including redacted flight logs and Epstein's contact book. However, many of these materials were already public. What are the latest developments in the Epstein files investigation? Congressional subpoena: On July 23, the House Oversight Subcommittee formally subpoenaed the DOJ, demanding the release of all Epstein-related records, including sealed files, internal DOJ communications, and evidence not yet made public. Maxwell to testify: Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned former girlfriend of Epstein, is expected to testify before Congress on August 11. A closed-door interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has already taken place. Trump's name in files: U.S. President Donald Trump was told in May 2025 that his name appears 'multiple times' in the Epstein files. The White House has acknowledged the inclusion but emphasised that it is based on unverified references. Court rejects file unsealing: A Florida judge has blocked the DOJ's request to unseal grand jury records, citing legal protections. A similar petition remains under review in New York. $1.5 billion in suspicious transactions: Senator Ron Wyden has alleged that Treasury Department documents indicate over $1.5 billion in wire transfers tied to Epstein's network. He claims the DOJ has withheld these suspicious activity reports (SARs) from Congress. What do the Jeffrey Epstein files contain? According to the DOJ, the Epstein files include over 300 gigabytes of digital content and tens of thousands of images and videos, many involving minors and explicit content. The seized physical materials include flight manifests, photo albums, architectural plans of Epstein's residences, cash bundles, and contact directories. Authorities say that most of these materials remain sealed due to their illicit nature and the need to protect the victims' identities. What happens next in the Epstein investigation? The US House Oversight Subcommittee's subpoena may require the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release more documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, unless blocked by the courts. Ghislaine Maxwell is expected to testify before Congress in August. Her closed-door meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in Florida was part of the DOJ's ongoing efforts to respond to calls for transparency. Mr Blanche said on social media that President Donald Trump had asked officials to 'release all credible evidence'. He added that the FBI and DOJ would review any information Maxwell provides on crimes involving victims. Also Read: Pam Bondi | Bonding for cover Meanwhile, lawmakers Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna have introduced the 'Epstein Files Transparency Act'. If supported by 218 members of the House of Representatives, it would direct the Attorney General to release all unclassified DOJ records related to Epstein. The outcome will influence how much more information becomes public in the coming months.

Mark Matthews on why FTA with UK, US trade deal shouldn't matter much for India
Live Events You Might Also Like: Most excited about these business segments in next 1-2 years: Raamdeo Agrawal (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our ETMarkets WhatsApp channel MD,, believes the India-UK FTA will have a small impact on India. He hopes it will encourage a US trade deal before August 6. A US deal could boost the stock market. Matthews anticipates a US tariff for India between 15% and 20%. He considers US trade less crucial for India than for other nations.: I do not know what the impact will be for the UK economy, but it is not big for India as you know UK trade is an extremely small part of India's overall economy. But what I would say is that it should be a boost for sentiment because they have been doing these talks for about three months and hopefully will put pressure on the government to do the trade deal with the United States before the August 6th deadline. That would be a much needed boost for the stock market if that comes I would expect it to come in somewhere between 15% and 20% with 20% being the ceiling for the Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines and Indonesia. They are at 19% and then 15% was the recent trade deal with Japan. So, that is the range I am looking for. If it was above 20%, then I would be disappointed, I do not know about the market. Unlike Japan or the Philippines, trade with the US is not material for the Indian economy. I find this is frankly more noise than substance.: I like two things. First, I like the fact that the sector is down almost 20% so far this year. It is not across the sector but there are pockets of very deep value. This is a place in India where you can find deep value. And the second thing is that the guidance from management in the most recent quarterly results was largely positive, looking for better times ahead. So, those are the two reasons why we like it.I am sorry I do not have a view on that, but I can tell you what we think about the consumer space. It will be a beneficiary of the Rs 1 lakh crore tax breaks that were announced in the Budget back in February and we should start to see that filter through, but also the one percentage point cut in the RBI's rate since the last five months – these two forces should be beneficial for the entire space, especially for bigger ticket items like autos and property.I think I was wrong and I remember that conversation. It is probably higher than when we last spoke. I felt that it was overbought because at that time it was up about 25% from the beginning of the year. Now, it is up about 28%. I think what I told you at the time is I preferred the idea of buying stocks in Hong Kong relative to gold. So, I suspect on that basis, it might have been the right call. Hong Kong stocks have done better than gold since we last met. But yes, if you look back over the last 100 years, gold's return is on average 5% a year in US dollars. So it has been a very fine investment, but it does move in spurts and we have just had one of those big spurts over the last two I would have thought it was due for a break, and it continues to go up. Long-term, the thing that speaks in favour of gold is that most central banks do not have enough of it and they would like to diversify away from a very heavy concentration in dollars. In fact, there was a survey that came out last month that showed off all the assets that the major central banks of the world said they intended to increase their allocation to over the next 5 to 10 years, gold had the largest vote in there will be a steady buyer of gold from central banks, but they do not tend to chase the price. They tend to be very calm and steady in their buying of it. I do not want to ramble, but what I am trying to say is I still feel that it is overbought in the short term, but longer term it should continue to demonstrate that attribute of going up about 5% per year over the long term.

Karnataka BJP slams Rahul Gandhi, says refusal to accept electoral defeat leads to baseless theories
Bengaluru: Responding to Rahul Gandhi's allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI) and claims of having concrete proof of cheating in a constituency in Karnataka, the state BJP has said the Congress leader's refusal to accept electoral defeat has now descended into baseless conspiracy theories. The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, said on Friday, "The Lok Sabha results in Karnataka are a decisive mandate in favour of NDA and a resounding rejection of the Congress-led Karnataka government's failures. But instead of introspecting, Rahul Gandhi is now blaming the Election Commission for covering up his party's collapse, and CM Siddaramaiah is endorsing it, not to save democracy but to shield himself from brewing internal backlash and save his chair." The inclusion and deletion of voter names is a transparent process conducted in the presence of representatives from all political parties, Ashoka noted. If there were any legitimate concerns, they should have been raised with evidence before the Election Commission or courts, not turned into political drama after losing, Ashoka pointed out. BJP's victory is a result of people's trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, not some imaginary 'vote theft' narrative peddled by Congress, he said. 'If Rahul Gandhi claims to have proof, what is stopping him from initiating legal action? Why the delay?' Ashoka challenged. "This is nothing but a textbook example of Congress' political bankruptcy, blaming everyone but themselves for their failures," he underlined. "Karnataka BJP unit strongly condemns this attempt to undermine public faith in democratic institutions just because the outcome didn't favour them," Ashoka charged. Rahul Gandhi had stated, "The Election Commission is not functioning as the Election Commission of India. The fact of the matter is, the Election Commission is not doing its job. Now, we have concrete, hundred per cent proof of the Election Commission allowing cheating in a seat in Karnataka." Responding to allegations by the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, against the ECI and his claims of having concrete proof that the ECI allowed cheating for a seat in Karnataka, the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka has refuted the charges, stating that the electoral rolls were prepared transparently and copies were shared with recognised political parties. The statement further stated, "As informed by the Election Commission of India already, Electoral Rolls are shared with all recognised political parties. During Special Summary Revision-2024, which was taken up before the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024, the copies of draft and final electoral rolls of all 224 Assembly constituencies were provided to representatives of all registered and recognised political parties, including the Indian National Congress (INC)." Supporting the statement of Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday stated that the Congress party's setback in the parliamentary elections was due to the BJP's misuse of the Election Commission. CM Siddaramaiah, in his press statement, said, "The outcome of the recent Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka not only surprised us but also gave rise to several doubts. It is now becoming evident that the main reason behind the Congress party's setback in that election was the BJP's misuse of the Election Commission to carry out irregularities."
