James Gunn Teases the Future of John Cena's PEACEMAKER in the DCU — GeekTyrant

James Gunn's first phase of the DCU has always included John Cena's Peacemaker, but as we are still ahead of the character's second season in his series, we don't exactly know what the future holds for him. Season 2 of Peacemaker will debut this week, and run through the beginning of October, and Gunn has been very tight-lipped about what the final few episodes will entail. When asked by ExtraTV (via CBM) about the broader direction of the DCU, James Gunn teased that Season 2 of Peacemaker will provide plenty of answers. "I think you're going to find out a lot, this season of Peacemaker. This is a direct follow-up to Superman, although it should be said, it's not for kids, it's for adults. We kind of see where the DC Universe is going and we find out about where it's heading from here. By the end of the season, there's a lot of surprises." In a separate interview, Gunn previously teased that episodes 6-8 of the series contain huge surprises and that he intentionally left those episodes off of advance screener copies sent out to the media. As to whether Season 2 is the last season of Peacemaker , Gunn all but confirmed that Cena's antihero will be seen again in a fourth project. Whether that's a third season of the show or something else remains to be seen, saying, "We call it the Tighty-Whities Trilogy- between The Suicide Squad , Peacemaker Season 1, and Peacemaker Season 2. Are we going to make it a quadrilogy? Probably, we'll see..." "In Season 2, Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands." James Gunn wrote all 8 episodes and directed 3, including the premiere. The second season reunites John Cena with key members of the season 1 cast, including Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), and Steve Agee (John Economos), as the series gears up for a major expansion within the new DC Universe. This time around, the story will branch out beyond Peacemaker's tight-knit team, with Frank Grillo stepping in as Rick Flag Sr., a character who serves as the connective tissue to Superman, Creature Commandos, and future DCU chapters. Several additional familiar faces from Superman are also set to appear, including Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Sean Gunn reprising his role as the Justice Gang financier Maxwell Lord. Fans will also be introduced to a brand-new character, Red St. Wild, portrayed by Michael Rooker. Peacemaker episode one drops this week on August 21st on HBO/Max.

‘Severance' Season 3 Is Coming, but Ben Stiller Won't Be Directing

When audiences return to Lumon Industries sometime in the near future, it will be without a major component. Ben Stiller, one of the producers and directors of the hit Apple TV+ show Severance, will not be directing any episodes in season three. 'I'm at the point in my life where I'm like, 'The clock is ticking,'' Stiller told the Los Angeles Times. He's currently getting ready to star in Focker-In-Law, the latest Meet the Parents movie, and is prepping his next feature film, a World War II survival film that tells 'the true story of a downed airman in occupied France and how he got involved with the French Resistance.' Because of those two things, he's decided there won't be time to direct any of season three. 'These things take time to come together,' Stiller said, 'and the older you get, the more you realize that you only have so much time.' But that's not to say he won't be involved. Stiller, showrunner Dan Erickson, and the Severance writers 'have been spending much of the year planning season three so that Stiller can step away and direct this feature film,' according to the paper. Also, this does suggest that filming on season three will be happening sooner rather than later, which is a good thing. So the season will have Stiller's fingerprints on it. He's still a producer. Just not a director. However, that's a bigger deal than you may realize. Stiller's direction is a key part of what makes Severance 'Severance.' He directed six of season one's nine episodes—the first three and the last three—and then did half of season two's 10 episodes, including the finale and the memorable 'Woe's Hollow.' What season two did even more than season one, though, was showcase incredibly talented new directors who are surely going to step in and fill Stiller's shoes. Key among those would be Jessica Lee Gagné, the cinematographer turned director who did season two's unforgettable, twisty-turny 'Chikhai Bardo.' We're only speculating that she'd return, but come on. She'd better. No one has done close to as many episodes as Stiller, of course, but others have done multiples. Sam Donovan and Uta Briesewitz each did two episodes of season two, and Aoife McArdle did the three episodes of season one that Stiller didn't. So, clearly, Stiller is leaving the show in very capable hands and has made his mark on what's being written and prepped. He just won't be on set. Behcet (Ben) Kaya, Revered Author, Releases 'Deception,' His Latest Jack Ludefance Thriller: 'Hired by a Dead Man'

Now available, Deception takes readers on a thrilling race against time, where uncovering the truth comes at a high cost. LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2025 / / -- Internationally recognized author Behcet (Ben) Kaya has released his latest crime thriller, Deception: A Jack Ludefance Novel. The newest installment in his acclaimed PI series launches with a chilling premise: a dying Colonel hires Jack Ludefance to uncover who poisoned him, sending the detective into a race against time filled with danger, deception, and intrigue. Deception: A Jack Ludefance Novel and the entire Jack Ludefance series are available on and other online booksellers. Click here: 'I refuse to ignore my past,' says Kaya. 'My books are a blend of what has happened and what is happening today. We can never outgrow the past; it is the root of who we are. That's why I take relevant stories and shape them into fiction that not only entertains but also helps reveal deeper truths.' Packed with twists, suspicious characters, and a race against time, Deception showcases Kaya's signature storytelling, fast-paced, suspenseful, and layered with themes of truth, morality, and justice. Readers will find themselves immersed in a narrative that feels both thrillingly fictional and eerily reflective of real-world issues. Kaya first introduced readers to PI Jack Ludefance in 2017, inspired by a dinner with his wife at a Florida bayside restaurant. The series has since grown to six novels, with a seventh, Murder at Tutley Brewery, already in progress. Readers Rave 'Deception by Behcet Kaya is another fantastic book by this author and features the character of Jack Ludefance. Having read the books in this series, I know how great the writing is. Book 6 has Jack investigating a chilling case: Colonel Westerdam believes he's been poisoned and hires Jack to determine the truth. The suspects include shady doctors, a sketchy woman, and things from the Colonel's past. Kaya builds layers of suspense, atmosphere, and character. I loved trying to figure out the puzzle of this case. The vivid, highly conversational style moves the story along at a quick pace. I was totally immersed in this book and loved the plot, characters and ultimate ending. Recommended.' Beyond his fiction, Kaya's own story is as compelling as his novels. Born in northeastern Turkey, he left home at the age of fourteen, worked on construction sites in Istanbul while studying English, and later moved to London in 1965. Balancing education with long hours as a restaurant worker, he steadily built a life defined by resilience and determination. In 1976, Kaya emigrated to the United States, became a citizen in 1985, and later earned top security clearance to work on nuclear power plant projects. Alongside his professional career, his artistic pursuits flourished, as he studied theater in Atlanta and Los Angeles before embarking on a literary career that began with the award-winning Voice of Conscience in 2007. He has since published nine novels, including Road to Siran, Erin's Story, and Murder on the Naval Base, which was adapted into a screenplay and recently recognized by the Oxford Script Awards (Summer 2025). Today, Kaya lives in Florida's Panhandle with his wife, where he enjoys the beaches, long cruises, and playing a rare violin crafted by a Turkish luthier. His life story is a testament to persistence, creativity, and the enduring power of imagination, qualities reflected in every book he writes.
