Nebraska's top quarterback target lands expert prediction

Nebraska football received a prediction in their favor for class of 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor. On3's Steve Wilfong put in the prediction on Wednesday morning.
Taylor is the third-ranked quarterback nationally in the 2027 class and the second-ranked player in his class from the state of Illinois, according to the On3 recruiting rankings. He is being recruited by Nebraska's quarterbacks coach, Glenn Thomas. He was in Lincoln this past weekend for the Husker Games.
Taylor is coming off a 2024 high school season that saw him record 3,061 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions, according to statistics from MaxPreps.com.
Currently, the 2027 Nebraska football recruiting class has zero commitments. It would undoubtedly be a cornerstone commitment of the class and continue to strengthen the Huskers' quarterback room for the future.
Husker fans should feel confident that the program will land Taylor. Recruiting can change quickly, but things look promising so far.

Iowa football OC Tim Lester praises Logan Jones' all-around impact
As Iowa football offensive coordinator Tim Lester has the Hawkeyes prepared to potentially power themselves into the program's first College Football Playoff appearance this season, the second-year coordinator spoke on the importance of graduate senior offensive lineman Logan Jones' all-around impact on the team. The 6-foot-3, 302-pound native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, is expected to continue his role as a key cog in the stability of the Hawkeyes' offensive line this fall. After redshirting his 2020 freshman year and missing a majority of 2021 with injury, Jones has started all 38 games played over the past three seasons. With Iowa expected to have one of the top offensive line units in the Big Ten and nationwide, Lester described how Jones is regarded as one of the most impactful players in the front four due to his role at center and how his performance ultimately can dictate the team's success. 'The center position, between what he does in protection, obviously the snap, the snap count, the cadences, working in and out of cadences. Another layer of the offense is a lot of changing plays at the line of scrimmage, changing cadences at the line of scrimmage, and that kind of all falls on Logan," Lester said. "So when he's not in there, you can see where you can screw up an offense, because if you can't get the snap, you can't even start a play. If it's possible, he's moving better than he's ever moved. We aren't playing him a ton because we know what he can do, and there is no reason to overdo it." While Jones could have elected to enter the NFL draft this past spring, he decided to return to the Hawkeyes for his final season in hopes of finally pushing the team to a memorable season. Obviously, given his talent, Lester was very pleased to have Jones back this fall. "It's exciting to have a returning center when you're trying to have a good offense and grow it with a guy in the center that has played a ton of football.' Iowa opens its 2025-26 campaign on Aug. 30 against FCS-level Albany from Kinnick Stadium, with the game scheduled to start at 5 p.m. CT and broadcast on FS1. The 2025 college football season begins in less than two weeks, and between now and then, fans are trying to predict how their favorite teams and players will perform this year. The Oklahoma Sooners are gaining some traction, but many are taking a wait-and-see approach with the Sooners. OU was left just outside the US LBM Coaches Poll last week. One of the biggest talking points surrounding Mateer is how he'll be able to adapt to the SEC. But Pate believes the conference will struggle to contain John Mateer. That's high praise for Mateer, who followed his offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle from WSU to Oklahoma this offseason. One of the biggest questions surrounding that duo has been the SEC adjustment, but Pate seems to think that the league will have to adjust to them. Date announced for annual Michigan State Madness event
Michigan State basketball has announced the date for its annual Michigan State Madness event. Michigan State Madness will be held on October 3, with the doors expected to open at 8 p.m. ET. Michigan State Madness is the annual preseason event held by the Spartans' men's and women's basketball programs that includes open practice, player contests and fun themed entrances. This is essentially the event previously known as midnight madness. Michigan State Madness is considered a celebration of the start of the college basketball season, which will officially start in early November with the first regular season games taking place. Admission is free for the event. Both the men's and women's basketball teams are coming off strong seasons last year, with both reaching the NCAA Tournament.
