Sioux Honey Co-Op's Brands are the First Honey Brands to Earn American Farmland Trust's U.S. Farmed™ Certification
Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sioux Honey Association Co-op, the gold standard of honey since 1921, and American Farmland Trust, a national nonprofit working to save the land that sustains us, announce the joint launch of U.S. Farmed™ certified honey, a standard for consumer-packaged goods proven to contain at least 95% of ingredients grown in the United States. Sioux Honey Association Co-op's brands Sue Bee® and Aunt Sue's® become the first honey brands in the nation to earn U.S. Farmed™ certification.
By choosing U.S. Farmed™ products, consumers can ensure the products they purchase directly benefit the livelihood of American farmers, helping to ensure a vibrant and thriving agricultural sector in America. Funds raised through the certification of each product will benefit American Farmland Trust's work to preserve farmland and keep farmers on the land, both by providing U.S. farmers across all 50 states with free resources and one-on-one expert advisory services, while also expanding AFT's programs to help them to access, protect, and maintain American farmland.
'The U.S. Farmed™ certification is an important milestone in our ongoing dedication to honesty and integrity in our honey,' said Sioux Honey Association Co-op President and CEO Kevin Hueser. 'From the beehive to the household, you can be sure that our honey is harvested and packaged within the United States. Sioux Honey Co-op and AFT commit to increase demand for American-grown products; invest in the future by encouraging domestic production; and help to preserve farmland.'
AFT created the standard because America's farmland is under threat. Two thousand acres are paved over, fragmented or converted every day and millions more will be lost by 2040 if these trends continue. Moreover, one-third of the nation's farm and ranch land, 300 million acres, will change hands in the next 20 years as aging farmers exit the field, making the land vulnerable to development.
'U.S. Farmed™ directly supports AFT's mission—to save the land that sustains us by protecting farmland, keeping farmers on the land, and promoting forward-looking farming practices,' said AFT President and CEO John Piotti. 'Businesses can market their support for U.S. farms by getting certified and proudly placing the U.S. Farmed™ seal on their products. Americans can support farmers by choosing U.S. Farmed™ certified products.'
'We hope consumers and businesses alike will join the movement and help grow our future,' said Piotti. 'Choosing U.S. Farmed™ is not just about a label, it's about investing in the future of American agriculture. It's about growing strong farms, vibrant communities, and delicious food and drinks – all from right here in the USA. Join the movement, choose U.S. Farmed™, and let's cultivate a thriving future.'
To become US Farmed™ certified, companies should reach out to AFT to talk about their eligibility for the program, then undergo a third-party audit to ensure their ingredients are at least 95% U.S. grown. Go to farmland.org/us-farmed to learn more.

For 100+ years, Sue Bee® and Aunt Sue's® honey has been enjoyed by generation after generation. But you might be wondering, how does a honey company maintain this reputation for that long? It's because Sue Bee® and Aunt Sue's® honey is harvested and produced right here in the U.S., direct from our trusted beekeepers – the fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters who have made it their lifelong profession to share sweetness with others. It's because of them we've passed the 100-mile marker. And it's because of them you're guaranteed pure, quality honey in every drop. Sioux Honey Co-op members have been a part for decades – part of families who have passed down the trade for generations – and some have pioneered and started their own bee farms. But all of the members have a passion for producing a pure, quality product that customers can trust. And we're proud to say we know each of our beekeepers by name, because we've learned that's how you produce the best honey for more than a century.
American Farmland Trust is the only national organization that takes a holistic approach to agriculture, focusing on the land itself, the agricultural practices used on that land, and the farmers and ranchers who do the work. AFT launched the conservation agriculture movement and continues to raise public awareness through our No Farms No Food® message. Since our founding in 1980, AFT has helped permanently protect over 8 million acres of agricultural lands, advanced environmentally sound farming practices on millions of additional acres, and supported thousands of farm families.

Semi-conductor group Alphawave is latest tech company to quit London listing as it agrees £1.8bn takeover
Semi-conductor group Alphawave IP is to become the latest major London listed company to leave the stock market after agreeing a £1.8 billion takeover from US chip giant Qualcomm. The Gresham Street headquartered company told shareholders this morning it had finally struck a deal with its suitor after an extension for the takeover deadline was extended for the fifth time last week. Anglo-Canadian Alphawave listed in London in May 2021 when it sold £856 million of shares in an IPO valuing it at £3.1 billion. It is the latest in a stream of tech companies to quit their London listings. Last week fintech Wise said it is switching its primary listing to America. The deal overshadowed the launch of London Tech Week which was attended by Keir Starmer and Nvidia boss Jensen Huang. Darius McDermott, managing director at investment research agency FundCalibre said:'It's a telling contrast: the Prime Minister courts Nvidia's Jensen Huang just as another UK tech success story, Alphawave, is set to be acquired by an American buyer. 'Our view is the government must prioritise policies that support domestic UK capital markets – not kill them. They are critical for a well-functioning economy and society. For too long, the government has neglected, overregulated and taxed them, driving liquidity and investment out of the UK.' Alphawave, which is advised by Goldman Sachs and BMO, originally confirmed it was in talks about a sale as long ago as 1 April. But it has repeatedly pushed back the so called 'put up or shut up' deadline. Under the terms of the now agreed acquisition Alphawave shareholders will receive $2.48 in cash for each share, equivalent to 183 p. It represents a 96% premium to the share price before the start of takeover speculation. Alphawave shareholders have an option to receive the cash in sterling or in new Qualcomm shares at a rate of 0.01662 Qualcomm shares for each Alphawave share held. There is also a further alternative of 0.00964 of a New Series A Qualcomm Exchangeable Security and 0.00698 of a New Series B Qualcomm Exchangeable Security for each Alphawave share. Tony Pialis, President and chief executive officer of Alphawave, said:"Qualcomm's acquisition of Alphawave represents a significant milestone for us and an opportunity for our business to join forces with a respected industry leader and drive value to our customers. 'By combining our resources and expertise, we will be well-positioned to expand our product offerings, reach a broader customer base, and enhance our technological capabilities. Together, we will unlock new opportunities for growth, drive innovation, and create a leading player in AI compute and connectivity solutions. For our shareholders, the Alphawave Board is pleased that Qualcomm's offer provides an opportunity to realise compelling value for their shares." Cristiano Amon, President and chief executive officer of Qualcomm, said:"Under Tony's leadership Alphawave has developed leading high-speed wired connectivity and compute technologies that are complementary to our power-efficient CPU and NPU cores. Qualcomm's advanced custom processors are a natural fit for data centre workloads. 'The combined teams share the goal of building advanced technology solutions and enabling next-level connected computing performance across a wide array of high growth areas, including data centre infrastructure." Westlake Epoxy Announces Strategic Collaboration With Alpha Recyclage Composites to Advance Composites Recycling
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Westlake Corporation (NYSE: WLK) announced today that Westlake Epoxy will collaborate with Alpha Recyclage Composites to support them in scaling up the recycling capacity for carbon fiber composite materials. This collaboration will provide support to Westlake's composite customers in their development of improved circular options for both production (scrap or off spec composite materials that otherwise become waste) and end-of-life waste. The recovery of the carbon fibers from composite materials for reuse in new or emerging applications aims to establish a more sustainable alternative to traditional disposal methods such as landfilling and incineration. Alpha Recyclage Composites, a family-owned company based in Toulouse and Castelsarrasin, France, specializes in recycling carbon-fibers-reinforced composites through a patented steam pyrolysis process. This innovative technology preserves the performance qualities of the carbon fibers used in composite materials recovered from applications including aerospace components, automotive parts, and wind turbine blades. With Westlake's support and to meet growing demand, Alpha Recyclage Composites is expanding its current batch unit to a semi-continuous operation, targeting a capacity of 1,000 metric tons of waste carbon fiber composites recycled per year by 2027. 'We are pleased to collaborate with Alpha Recyclage,' says Brian Powers, Vice President – Westlake Epoxy. 'This initiative supports Westlake's broader sustainability goals and aligns with industry's efforts and our customers' objectives to reduce waste and promote the reuse of valuable materials through circular solutions.' By fostering the relationships between Westlake's composite customers and Alpha Recyclage Composites, Westlake Epoxy aims to connect its customers to Alpha Recyclage's expanded capacity and in turn support composite customers in their development of new applications that integrate recycled carbon fibers in different forms. The development of new applications utilizing the recovered carbon fibers could pair well with Westlake Epoxy's EpoVIVE™ portfolio of resin grades with varying sustainable characteristics, like resins that utilize mass balanced renewable raw materials. Westlake Epoxy also plans to leverage this collaboration with Alpha Recyclage to explore and develop solutions for the recovery of organic components from composite materials and how those recovered organics can be applied to further enhance circularity options for the composites value chain. Laura Pech, CEO of Alpha Recyclage Composites, added: 'With over 25 years of experience in tires recycling, including a large-scale steam pyrolysis plant for tires – our family is proud to adapt this process to composite materials. We view Westlake as a strategic collaborator to help us grow this initiative into a more sustainable and profitable business.' About Westlake Westlake Corporation (NYSE: WLK) is a global manufacturer and supplier of materials and innovative products that enhance life every day.
