At Long Last, George Clooney Shared His Thoughts on ‘The Pitt'
You can take the actor out of the emergency room, but you can't take the emergency room out of the actor. Case in point: Former ER star George Clooney has nothing but kind words to say about his former costar Noah Wyle and Wyle's new propulsive medical drama, the HBO Max phenomenon The Pitt.
On a June 3 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Clooney chatted with Meyers to promote his Broadway show Good Night, and Good Luck, a dramatization of broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow's clashes with Senator Joseph McCarthy during the senator's anti-Communist witch hunts during the 1950s. Clooney previously directed and costarred in a film version of Good Night, and Good Luck, released in 2007.
After Meyers and Clooney discussed his Broadway show, the late-night host brought up both E/R (a forgotten sitcom that Clooney coincidentally appeared on early in his career) and ER, the broadcast TV juggernaut that catapulted him forward. That's when Meyers brought up the current success of one of Clooney's ER costars, Noah Wyle, who is both the star and executive producer of The Pitt.
The former Dr. Doug Ross had nothing but kind words for the former Dr. John Carter regarding The Pitt. "Have you guys seen that show?" Clooney asked the audience, to which the crowd cheered. "It's so good."
"We've been really dear friends since [ER], since we did the pilot. He's just the most honorable young man—I get to say, because I'm an old man. And I cannot be happier for his success on this show. The show is just a beautiful show. He does a great job with it."
Clooney then comically admitted that he actually hated Noah Wyle for the effortless way he could recite medical jargon in ER's scripts. "He never had any trouble. He always could do it, and I hated him for it," joked Clooney. "People should hate Noah."
While it's unlikely that Clooney will make a guest appearance on The Pitt—he is still busy as a movie star, and his last onscreen television performance was in the 2019 series Catch-22 on Hulu—it's comforting to know Clooney has kept tabs on one of his fellow ER alums. Strangely, that feels more like a Batman move than anything Dr. Ross would do.

2025 Tony Awards Predictions: Which Shows and Performers Will Win?
The Broadway season that just ended was the most robust since the pandemic, with record-setting grosses, a plethora of profitable plays and celebrities galore. Serious challenges remain — vanishingly few new musicals are making money — but there is a rich subject and stylistic diversity of offerings. Now, industry insiders face a lot of tough choices as they determine which shows to honor at Sunday night's Tony Awards ceremony, which airs at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS. Over the last few days, I asked Tony voters which productions, and which performers in leading roles, they deemed the best. After consulting with more than one quarter of the 840 voters, these are my predictions. Expect wins for 'Maybe Happy Ending' … Tell people the plot summary for 'Maybe Happy Ending,' and they immediately think they don't want to see it: It's about two lonely robots in Seoul who go on a road trip and find, well, each other. But over the last seven months, the show has steadily won over fans thanks to strong reviews and excellent word-of-mouth; it has clearly won over Tony voters too. The show has what I believe to be an overwhelming lead over its closest competitors, 'Buena Vista Social Club' and 'Death Becomes Her,' both of which are based on existing material. That's one part of what's working for 'Maybe Happy Ending': Voters over and over say they appreciate that, in an era in which Broadway is dominated by big-brand titles adapted from movies, books or popular song catalogs, this musical has both an original story and an original score. There are, of course, detractors, who find the four-performer show twee, but there are significantly more admirers, many of whom praise the way all the elements of Michael Arden's production cohere — the performances, the direction, the story and the lavish set, with state-of-the-art automation and technology. While the next live action movie, Predator: Badlands, won't hit theaters until November 7, this week, there's another new Predator movie sneakily coming to streaming. There have been two major trailers for Killer of Killers, one that reveals the basic premise of the movie, and another, a behind-the-scenes video detailing how this animated movie tries to take striking concept art and bring it to life. Unlike other Predator movies, Killer of Killers is an anthology concept, meaning the roughly 90-minute film has three sections, each depicting people battling Predators in different historical periods. The movie starts with ancient Vikings, moves to feudal Japan, and eventually, depicts Predators attacking WWII fighter planes. There is a method to this madness, though. All three stories are linked, and by the end of the movie, you'll see why. If the concept of Predators battling humans in historical settings sounds familiar, it should. In 2022, Trachtenberg's film Prey depicted a Comanche woman named Naru (Amber Midthunder) battling a Predator in 1719. The vibe of Killer of Killers very much follows the mood of Prey, and if you're paying attention, there's even some pretty big Easter eggs connected to that movie. Presumably, all of this is setting up the next big movie, Predator: Badlands. Starring Elle Fanning, that sci-fi action flick hits theaters on November 7.
