You can now find your new car on Amazon while sitting on your sofa
A European car manufacturer has launched a virtual showroom on the site
Searching for a new car usually involves a trip to the showroom to look at what's available and booking a test drive while you're there. But shopping for a new vehicle has just gotten that much simpler.
Skoda has added a virtual car showroom to Amazon, meaning those in the market for a vehicle can now browse and even compare the models in the range while sitting on the sofa. You can even book a test drive at a local showroom, find out what stock is available and look at finance options.
However, you can't add it to your basket and it's not available on Prime delivery either. Well, not yet anyway.
Car journalist Abigayle Andre, who shares motoring tips on her TikTok page told her viewers: "You can look for your next car on Amazon!
" Skoda are the first European car manufacturer to have their own virtual showroom on Amazon. It seamlessly integrates real-time new car stock availability where customers are.
"It's got used cars too. You can check out the spec, the price, you can even compare cars and book a test drive at your local Skoda retailer. How cool is that?
"Now you can't buy your Skoda from Amazon, you've still have to go to your Skoda retailer for that. But how much easier is this going to make things?
"The same place that we buy our body creams and our hair stuff, we can now find our new car. The Skoda showroom on Amazon is now live so go and check it out!"
Topgear.com said that German automotive brand, Skoda, surveyed 2,000 UK adults on their car-buying values. It found that 47 per cent said being able to research at home was important, and 77 per cent spent as much as two hours browsing online.
So their digital showroom on Amazon is a response to that. In the US, Amazon are one step ahead. In 2024 it announced it would start selling cars online for American customers.
They have started selling a limited number of Hyundai vehicles which are available from local suppliers. And the car manufacturer and Amazon are also creating a new generation of in-car infotainment services.
Hyundai's next-generation vehicles will feature Alexa Assistant, allowing the driver to use voice commands to play music, programme sat nav directions, set reminders, update to-do lists, and check calendars.
Speaking about the partnership between the online retail giants and the Korean car manufacturer, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said: "Hyundai is a very innovative company that shares Amazon's passion for trying to make customers' lives better and easier every day."
Matthew Bowden, Director of Škoda UK, told motortrader.com: 'Online browsing and research are part of everyday life, which is why we're so excited to launch the Škoda showroom at Amazon.
'It gives prospective customers more opportunities to find their next car and see where it's available, all from the comfort of their home.'
It's not known if or when UK Amazon customers might be able to purchase their car from the retail giant. But it's surely less pie in the sky now?

I tried an angelic café in North Wales city centre and found a little taste of heaven
Heaven Coffee Shop on Lord Street has become very popular with visitors to Wrexham, since Adam and Malgorzata took over the cafe in 2018. Adam and Malgorzata moved to the UK in 2004 and started their new life together in Wrexham. Malgorzata used to work at the former Lord Street Café and enjoyed it so much, that they made the decision to take over and open the café doors as 'Heaven Coffee Shop'. The café is near the arc sculpture landmark on Lord Street. The statue portrays a miner and a steelworker on brick plinths, feet astride two steel arcs. They are at full stretch, each trying to bend the arc to meet at the top. The statue represents the toil and collectiveness of manual work. With the closures of the mines, these self-sufficient communities had to find a new role in the world. Wrexham has seen a lot of cafes and pubs open up via the leisure industry in the last few years and there are a lot of food and drink options in the area. In 2021, the café was doing so well that they took over the lease of the shop next door to give 'Heaven' more space. Yes, you will always need a bit more space in heaven. This heavenly coffee shop was really busy when we popped in through its pearly gates for a bite to eat. The owners were chatting and hugging a few returning locals, giving the place, a close community feel. Adam and Malgorzata have created a small friendly vibe so that people feel comfortable. They have even added a children's corner, which has been a popular hit with parents. This homely feeling spills out into Lord Street, with outdoor seating areas amid colourful potted plants. The plant theme continues inside the café, with greenery on light fittings with hanging plants draped all over the walls. We chose a spot near the window, the perfect place to people-watch whilst perusing the menu. The coffee shop seems to offer light snacks such as jacket potatoes, sandwiches and sweet and savoury crepes. The dessert menu looked fabulous with sweet waffles and American style pancakes with ingredients such as Nutella, Tutti Frutti and Haribo. No wonder families with children like this place so much. There are a lot of affordable 'meal deals' such as two burgers for £19,99 and all- day breakfasts starting from a small breakfast for £5.50, a large for £7.50 or a big monster fry up, which included three sausages and all the works for £11.50. There were plenty of veggie or vegan options available as well. Of course, the coffee shop has a vast array of drink options such as white-hot chocolate, the usual coffee options along with milkshakes and bubble tea. There was even good old 'Wrexham Lager' on draft behind the counter, if you fancied something a little bit stronger. We decided to take the two paninis for £12 offer as it seemed really good value. I went with one of my favourite simple fillings of brie and cranberry, whilst my wife went for a chicken, cheese, pesto and red onion version. The seared grill marks on the outside of Italian bread, opened up to reveal a gorgeous messy melted cheese. The gooey brie was topped with a tart cranberry sauce, with the toasted bread giving off a satisfying crunch. The Panini was well presented on bakery decorated greaseproof paper with cucumber, tomato and lettuce leaf on the side. My wife enjoyed the contrast of the strong red onion alongside the tang of the pesto and succulent chicken. Her hot-pressed sandwich was accompanied by a small side salad, which had a dark balsamic glaze squeezed artistically over the top. I ordered a super nutritious banana and strawberry smoothie for my drink option, which was thick, fresh and really refreshing. I sipped it slowly through a straw, as we watched the world, slowly drift by outside. My wife washed her tasty chicken panini down with a simple americano with hot milk. When I went over to pay the bill at the counter, I saw some heavenly and devilish looking cakes, such as red velvet, caramel cheesecake and some absolutely huge boulder scones packed with fruit and raisins. We somehow managed not to fall into temptation, but I was thinking about those lovely looking cakes all the way, on my journey home. It's no wonder that the angelic cafe is so busy, with high ratings from the loyal customer congregation, who keep returning for a little taste of heaven on Lord Street. The Facts Price - Panini offer £12, americano £2.50 and smoothie £3.99. The total price of the meal was £18.49 Atmosphere - Community family friendly vibe Car Parking- The island green car park is probably the nearest Service - Order at the counter but try not to look at the cakes

Debenhams reduces 'very classy' watch by 91% in huge sale
The Debenhams designer watch sale means shoppers can pick up a 'beautiful' watch with a big discount With a polished dial and jeweled bezel, the STÜHRLING Original Aria 3905 Wrist Quartz Watch combines the practicality of a time piece with the beauty of a bracelet. Typically £750, the watch would usually be an investment, however, Debenhams currently has it on sale for less than £72. Shoppers are spoilt for choice when it comes to personalisation as the Aria watch is available in five different colours. Starting from £71.25 for the silver colourway, discounts on the metals vary, but they are all on sale with the most expensive now £78.75. Saving accessory-lovers a massive £678.75, the Debenhams 91% off discount makes snapping up the watch a great idea for any birthdays or events coming up where a gift is needed. The strap is fully adjustable meaning shoppers don't need to get the wrist size spot on for it to fit. This was the case for one person who left a review reading: "Stunning watch for our friend's birthday. She was delighted!" The watch is understated enough that it can be worn daily, but it still maintains some glitz and sparkle that make it special. A second reviewer wrote: "Absolutely beautiful watch which would fit anyone. The strap is huge so plenty of room for adjustment. Love it, beautifully made and top quality." Aria 3905 Wrist Quartz Watch Product Description Another stylish watch option is from Next with the Gold Tone Tort Link Bracelet Watch. It's £36 and has a unique tortoiseshell pattern link design with a gold-tone metal frame, fusing vintage and modern style perfectly. Amazon is an alternative retailer where shoppers can pick up designer watches, from official store fronts, for less. This Vivienne Westwood Watch would normally be £400, but is currently on sale for £239.76. It's still one of the more expensive options, but the 40% off discount is impressive. Other people that have their hands on the STÜHRLING Original Aria 3905 Wrist Quartz Watch have assured that the 'very nice watch' is 'well made and comfortable to wear'. Someone even said 'the watch is everything I was looking for - it is beautiful'. However, the Debenhams number wasn't to everyone's standard. Someone wrote: "Not quite so impressive as shown in the advertising but value for the money." Those that have have never bought from Debenhams before can rest assured as one shopper was pleased with the packaging, writing: "Design is very classy and the watch is made to a high quality and comes in a beautiful box. So happy with my watch it's so comfortable ideal for everyday use. Some watches out there look nice but are very heavy but this one is very light and very attractive. So far, there's nothing to complain about."

Liverpool agree record Florian Wirtz transfer as payment structure detailed
Liverpool have finally agreed a deal to sign Florian Wirtz in what will be a British-record deal as the Reds cough up £100m up front with more signings of their radar Liverpool will pay a British-record fee to sign Florian Wirtz this summer after a £116million deal was finally agreed with Bayer Leverkusen. They'd seen several bids rejected, but have finally enjoyed a breakthrough. The Reds led the queue for the player with Bayern Munich and Manchester City both previously keen. But in recent weeks the Premier League champions have had a free run at Wirtz and have struck a deal with the Bundesliga outfit. Arne Slot has been aggressive in attacking the transfer market and is looking to add a second Leverkusen player after already signing Jeremie Frimpong, who arrived as Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement. Liverpool's business is unlikely to end with Wirtz and their outlay this summer could exceed £200m as they continue to eye other recruits in all areas of the squad. Here's the latest from Anfield. Structure of Wirtz deal Liverpool have committed to pay £100m guaranteed. That is more than the club has ever paid for a single player even including add-ons. However the overall cost of the deal will exceed the £115m which Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023. That shows the belief within Anfield for the ability of the Germany international both now and in the future with those who have watched him intently sure there's still huge scope for improvement for a player who had 30 goal contributions last season. It's a complex and complicated deal but that is standard nowadays for a player who is so highly-rated. The transfer window is now closed again until next week but deals can still be agreed and medicals done. The deal will be made official next week. Frankfurt issue Ekitike warning Frankfurt CEO Markus Krosche maintains the club don't need so sell Hugo Ekitike amid Premier League interest. Liverpool and Chelsea are both keen on the French frontman, who has been valued at around £85m. The Bundesliga side cashed in on Ekitike's former team-mate Omar Marmoush in January, with the forward joining Man City in a £59m deal. 'If the price isn't right, then he'll just stay with us," Krosche told Wiesbadener Kurier when discussing the player. "We don't have to sell Hugo.' Frankfurt are keen on Mainz's Jonathan Burkardt as they look to bolster their attacking ranks. The German international could join Ekitike rather than replacing him, though, with Mainz after a fee north of £25m. Wirtz role turned his head German football expert Constantin Eckner claims that Wirtz's decision to pick Liverpool over Bayern Munich is partly because he will be the main playmaker. He told BBC Sport: "What ultimately influenced his decision is that Arne Slot in particular offered Wirtz the best plan for the next couple of years, meaning Wirtz will be Liverpool's number 10 - the centrepiece. "Of course Mohamed Salah is still there, but how many more years will he play for Liverpool? His days are somewhat numbered. Then, Wirtz will be the centerpiece of the Reds attacking system."
