Genesis GV90 Leak Reveals Ultra-Luxury Interior And Purple Leather

Auto Blog02-07-2025
Genesis is inching closer to unveiling its flagship electric SUV, the GV90, and a new set of spy shots is offering the clearest look yet at its production interior. Captured during testing and originally shared by HealerTV on YouTube, the images reveal a cabin that blends high-end luxury with strong visual links to the Genesis Neolun Concept.
The GV90 will sit above the GV80 in Genesis' SUV lineup and is expected to become the brand's most expensive and technologically advanced model to date. It will ride on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform — the same dedicated EV architecture underpinning the GV60, Kia EV9, and Hyundai Ioniq 7 — allowing for fast charging, a flat floor, and optimised packaging.
That also means the GV90 will likely offer 800V electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging speeds and advanced software support, including over-the-air updates and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability — although final specs are still under wraps.

Purple Leather, Rear Screens, And Four-Seat Layout
The standout feature in these new photos is the use of bold purple leather upholstery, seen across the door cards, seats, and centre console — closely mirroring the Neolun's 'Purple Silk' interior theme. The design direction suggests that Genesis is targeting a luxurious, lounge-like feel rather than the more minimalist aesthetic seen in rivals.
Rear-seat comfort also appears to be a focus. The GV90 test mule shows a four-seat layout, with a large central console in the back housing cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and what looks to be a secondary display. This setup hints at chauffeur-style practicality for higher trims.
At the front, a wide curved display stretches across the dashboard — a common trait in current Genesis models — though its exact dimensions and functionality remain unconfirmed. The design language bears clear resemblance to both the GV60 and the updated GV80, with soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and integrated air vents expected to carry over.
Designed To Challenge The Best
Genesis has made no secret of its ambition to take on the global luxury establishment — and the GV90 is shaping up to be a clear marker of intent. Positioned above the combustion-powered G90 sedan in the product hierarchy, it's being developed not just as a flagship SUV, but as a statement EV. The four-seat layout and detailed finish already push it into territory typically occupied by long-wheelbase luxury SUVs like the BMW iX M60, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, and even Range Rover SV.
And while Genesis may lack the brand legacy of those European rivals, it's been quietly building a reputation for high-quality design, materials, and technology. If the GV90 delivers on its early promise — and arrives with competitive range, pricing, and driver tech — it could shake up the segment in a big way.
Expect more official details before the end of 2025, with a full launch likely in early 2026.

India's Apollo Hospitals to double AI investments, beats profit estimate

HYDERABAD, Aug 12 (Reuters) - India's Apollo Hospitals Enterprise ( opens new tab plans to double its investment in artificial intelligence capabilities over the next two to three years, its CEO said, after the company beat first-quarter profit estimates on higher patient volume. The hospital chain already uses AI tools in diagnosis to read X-rays, scan reports and also in endoscopy - a medical procedure to examine the inside of the body using a camera, CEO Madhu Sasidhar told Reuters on Tuesday. Many large private hospital chains in India, like their western counterparts, are investing in AI capabilities to improve patient diagnosis and decisions related to medical procedures, among others uses. Apollo recently developed technology to read existing scan reports and predict the risk of liver fibrosis in the future, Sasidhar said. "We are also bringing some other new generation agentic AI-type tools," he said. He did not quantify the size of Apollo's existing investment in AI. Apollo, headquartered in the south Indian city of Chennai, partnered with Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab earlier this year to develop AI-based tools to be used in healthcare. Some of them are in early stages of testing, Sasidhar said. Indian hospital chains such as Apollo and Manipal have also been increasing their bed count for a larger share of the market, including through acquisitions of smaller hospital operators. Apollo said it is on track to add 4,370 beds over the next 3-4 years through acquisition, new hospitals and expansion of existing facilities. Its overall bed capacity is currently more than 10,000. The company's consolidated net profit rose 41.8% to 4.33 billion rupees ($49.40 million) for April-June, beating estimates of 3.86 billion rupees, according to data compiled by LSEG. While its overall occupancy rate dipped from last year, in-patient volume grew 3% and average revenue per in-patient increased by 9%, according to Apollo. Quarterly total revenue rose 15% to 58.42 billion rupees, beating estimates of 57.44 billion rupees. The company said it expects double-digit revenue growth for the current financial year. Privacy-focused smartphone maker Unplugged to start US assembly in Nevada

Aug 12 (Reuters) - Smartphone startup Unplugged said on Tuesday it will start assembling its privacy-focused "UP Phone" in Nevada this fall, marking a strategic pivot toward onshore production as the Trump administration pushes to expand domestic manufacturing. The phones will be assembled in Nevada and the company aims to keep the device priced under $1,000, despite the high labor costs, CEO Joe Weil, a former Apple executive, told Reuters. The devices are currently made in Indonesia and priced at $989. "The first step we are approaching is assembly and then phasing in component sourcing," Weil said, adding Unplugged chose a refurbisher-turned-assembler after weighing options from traditional lean manufacturers to smartphone refurbishing firms. He declined to disclose the number of devices Unplugged plans to assemble in Nevada, or the identity of its partner. The company did not share the names of its backers and the amount it had raised. Analysts have said assembling smartphones in the U.S. is prohibitively expensive due to an Asia-centered supply chain and high domestic labor costs. But U.S. President Donald Trump has been pushing companies including Apple to manufacture more domestically by leaning on tariff threats and other measures. Unplugged said it plans to avoid some of the high costs tied to U.S. assembling by building devices in smaller, steady batches instead of releasing a new model every year. Its latest device, available for preorder and set to ship in late September, comes with a year of access to Unplugged's software suite, including firewall-based tracker blocking, a VPN and encrypted photo storage, before switching to a $12.99-per-month plan. The new version retains the same hardware as the previous device that went on sale in 2024 but adds a redesigned interface, firewall dashboard and upgraded camera software. Trump Mobile, a cellular service and smartphone venture licensing the president's brand, has said it is also looking to assemble its debut T1 handset in the U.S.
