These finalists represent marketing campaigns that have proven their effectiveness in achieving their stated objectives.
The awards celebrate work that combines creativity with measurable impact, emphasising the high standards within South Africa's marketing industry, according to thier website.
Refilwe Maluleke, Jury Co-Chair and Executive Head of Marketing at Discovery Health, said, 'The standard of entries this year has been exceptional.
The most effective work begins with clear objectives, strong strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the business challenge.
Our role as a jury is to apply rigorous evaluation to ensure every finalist has proven, beyond doubt, the impact of their work.' Her comments highlight the integrity and seriousness of the judging process.
The finalists come from a broad spectrum of the communications sector, including large networks, independent agencies, media specialists, PR firms, and even direct client entries.
This diversity showcases the rich talent and innovation driving marketing effectiveness across South Africa.
The 44 finalists now enter the next stage of judging, where winners of Bronze, Silver, and Gold Effies will be selected.
The very best among them will be considered for the prestigious Grand Effie, awarded only to campaigns demonstrating exceptional, sustained impact.
Jury Co-Chair Ahmed Tilly added, 'Creativity is at the heart of effectiveness.

The impressive list of finalists includes campaigns by Ogilvy, Joe Public, TBWA\Hunt Lascaris, M+C Saatchi Abel, and others.
They all span numerous categories like automotive, beverages, healthcare, finance, and social good. The awards gala, where winners will be revealed, is scheduled for 21 October.

Ministers belonging to the two largest parties, ANC and DA, in the government of national unity (GNU) are said to be growing frustrated as the United States (US) continue to make more demands during ongoing tariff negotiations. South Africa is in talks with Washington in the hope of securing a deal that would see the steep tariff rate imposed by the US reduced. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump's administration introduced a 30% tariff on all South African exports. ALSO READ: US tariffs: Here's why talks over trade deal have been 'complex' Although Trump had initially delayed implementation for 90 days in April to allow for negotiations, the tariffs officially came into effect last week. The trade standoff comes amid broader tensions between the two countries. These include South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), policies such as broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) and the Expropriation Act, as well as claims of the persecution of Afrikaners. US makes further demands to SA amid tariff talks In June, Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) leader Corne Mulder travelled to the US and later returned claiming that the White House officials his party engaged with had set conditions to restore relations. The conditions allegedly set out by US officials included exempting US companies from B-BBEE, allowing land expropriation with compensation, a public condemnation of the 'Kill the Boer' chant and treating farm murders as a priority crime. According to City Press, the US has further requested that South Africa grant visas to 30 Kenyans linked to Resettlement Support Centre Africa (RSC Africa), an organisation that has worked with the North American giant for over two decades to assist prospective refugees. This latest demand has added to South Africa's frustration, with government reportedly expressing its dissatisfaction informally. Ramaphosa's administration is also displeased with delays in receiving responses to its trade proposals. However, the government has reportedly remained firm in its refusal to get rid of any of its policies. New trade proposal South Africa recently submitted a revised offer to Washington aimed at reducing the 30% tariff. The proposal builds on one put forward in May and specifically addresses issues raised by the US in the 2025 national trade estimates report. Deputy President Paul Mashatile also announced that another delegation will soon be sent to the US to push for better terms. Earlier efforts included a high-profile May visit to the White House led by President Cyril Ramaphosa and joined by Cabinet ministers, Cosatu President Zingiswa Losi, businessman Johann Rupert, and professional golfers Ernie Els and Retief Goosen. Ramaphosa also recently held a phone call with Trump in an attempt to ease tensions. In addition, government has introduced support programmes will help offset the 30% tariff. Thirty-five of South African exports will remain exempt. These include products like copper, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, critical minerals, stainless steel scrap and energy-related products. This marks a shift from his 2022 stance, when he encouraged Zimbabweans to work in South Africa, emphasising that it was their home. Malema stressed that Zimbabweans should pursue jobs in their municipalities instead of taking positions in South Africa. 'We are not saying Zimbabweans should not be given jobs, but they must get jobs from their own municipalities,' Malema said, pointing to Harare and other Zimbabwean cities as places where employment opportunities should be sought. He cited South Africa's youth unemployment rate as alarming and unsustainable. He said this is one reason the EFF prioritises policies directing municipal tenders and other local job opportunities to South African workers. The EFF now prioritises employment for South African citizens, regardless of language skills or connections. Historically, Malema has supported African unity and encouraged Zimbabweans to participate in their national elections. Mining companies operating in South Africa have failed to provide housing for their employees and local communities as required by law. This is according to the recent research conducted by the Bench Marks Foundation. It said that most of the mines are surrounded by informal settlements where mineworkers and host communities reside. 'South African mines are surrounded by squatter camps due to their failure to provide proper, dignified housing for their employees,' said David van Wyk, a researcher for the Bench Marks Foundation. 'For example, we have been calling on a mining firm operating in Marikana, where more than 40 people were killed by security forces, to improve the housing conditions of the people in the area, but to no avail.' Van Wyk said the research also revealed that there was a need for the mining companies operating in the country to strive to bring the mining-affected communities to similar standards with those based in North America and Australia. 'The foundation's latest research, published in our Policy Gap 14, points out that it is unacceptable that South African mines are surrounded by squatter camps (misnamed informal settlements) due to the failure of South African mines to provide proper, dignified housing for their employees. There needs to be global uniformity in working and living conditions,' Van Wyk said. Wages The study also found a need for global uniformity, including globally comparable wages, extending beyond just living wages. It further said that the wage gap between South African and Australian mineworkers is completely unjustifiable. 'The weighted mean wage for the lowest paid categories in mining in the United States is US$16.21 per hour, while in South Africa, the average general mineworker's salary is R177 600 per year, which works out at R91.08 per hour (that is US$4.96 per hour: 30% of the US wage).' According to the study, the mine wage scale model used in South Africa is outdated and derives from apartheid practices. 'It is time to adapt to global best practice,' the document reads. Sabelo Mnguni, Macua national coordinator, said the foundation's findings were in line with what 'we have seen and documented in mining communities across South Africa'. 'Mining-affected communities have been living with this reality for decades. 'The failure of mining companies to provide proper, dignified housing for workers is a direct result of weak enforcement of social and labour plans under the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, combined with corporate cost-cutting that prioritises profits over people.' He said to make things worse, informal settlements are often without basic services such as clean water, sanitation and electricity. Mnguni said Macua's research showed that up to 70% of mines have failed to meet legally binding social and labour plans commitments on housing and living conditions. 'This is well-documented through our social audit reports and by various community groups, civil society organisations and even Parliament. 'The government must strictly enforce social and labour plans housing provisions and hold mining companies legally accountable for non-compliance, including suspending mining rights where obligations are not met. 'The current proposals in the Act undermine these obligations and try to turn them into discretionary provisions,' said Mnguni.
