SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — San Angelo ISD officials held a press conference on April 11 to discuss the district's Bond 2025 proposition ahead of the upcoming May 3 election.
Dr. Christopher Moran, superintendent, Dr. Taylor Kingman, school board president, and Dr. Merl Brandon, assistant superintendent of business support services and chief financial officer, answered questions from local media outlets regarding the bond proposition.
According to SAISD's Bond 2025 Overview webpage, Bond 2025 is a $397 million bond designed to fund multiple renovations and new constructions across the district, including the renovation of 'aging buildings,' the construction of a new Glenn Middle School and the improvement of safety parameters throughout SAISD.

During the conference, several questions pertaining to Bond 2025 were answered by Moran, Kingman and Brandon. Among the topics discussed were financial transparency, the role of voters in voicing the community's opinion about the bond proposition, the influence of Bond 2025 on voters' thoughts regarding the coliseum bond election and the potential impacts that decisions made in the Texas Capitol may have on SAISD.
Moran said that the Bond 2025 proposition is being presented to taxpayers due to the district's reliance on bond elections to fund renovations and new construction that could serve future generations of San Angelo residents.
'Public schools can only be constructed through bond elections by local taxpayers, and that's why this is such an important decision, because once buildings are built correctly, they last for two to three generations,' Moran said.
The officials stated that, regardless of whether one is for or against Bond 2025, becoming educated on the bond proposition and voting is encouraged.
'What we don't want are people to stay home and not vote,' Moran said. 'This is a community decision, people's voices need to be heard. Become educated, get out and vote.'
Early voting for the May 3 election is scheduled to begin on April 22 and conclude on April 29, according to information available on the Tom Green County website.

Ex-ABC News reporter Terry Moran admits network, traditional media biased against Trump: ‘A kind of deafness'

Disgraced former ABC News reporter Terry Moran admitted that his previous employer and other major news networks are biased against President Trump – accusing them of a 'deafness' in the newsroom. Moran revealed that there were hardly any pro-Trump journalists at ABC News in a recent post on his Substack channel, which has become his main outlet since getting fired in June following his social media tirade against White House adviser Stephen Miller. 'I worked at ABC News for almost 28 years, and I'm proud to say that. A lot of good people do a lot of really good work there, and they try hard to get the story right. There were many days over the years when I'd watch a colleague at work, on-camera or behind the scenes, and I'd think: That's how you do this,' Moran wrote in a Substack post last week. ABC News has the same problem so many leading cultural institutions do in America: A lack of viewpoint diversity.' Since joining ABC News in 1997, Moran said the network hired and promoted journalists from a wider array of backgrounds. But it did not diversify when it came to hiring pro-Trump voices, which is 'bound to impact coverage' from 'what is a kind of deafness,' the longtime journalist wrote. Advertisement 'The old news divisions don't hear many of the voices of the country, because those voices aren't in the newsroom,' Moran continued. 'Yes, news teams go out with a microphone and a camera and accost people at Trump rallies; but to me that often comes off as weirdly anthropological and inaccurate, kind of like trying to understand nature by visiting a zoo. You don't really see a tiger at the zoo, just a version of a tiger.' Despite his apparent call for more pro-Trump journalists at major news networks, Moran took aim at the Trump administration's recent approval of a multi-billion dollar Paramount-Skydance merger – adding that FCC Chair Brendan Carr 'can go to hell.' 3 Former ABC News reporter Terry Moran and President Trump during an interview in April. ABC News Advertisement The FCC greenlit the deal after it was stuck in limbo for more than a year following Skydance's promise to appoint an ombudsman to track media bias at CBS News once it completes its takeover of parent company Paramount. Moran argued that the government should not be policing the editorial content of news coverage, likening the deal to Viktor Orban's Hungary, the Law and Justice Party's Poland and Vladimir Putin's Russia. 'The goal is de facto state control of national media narratives,' Moran wrote. 'It will be done by lawyers, zealots and toadies. Like Brendan Carr, who's all three.' REUTERS Moran also doubled down on his comments about Stephen Miller earlier this year, calling him a 'world-class hater' who operates not on 'brains' but 'bile,' which led to his suspension and eventual firing from ABC News. 'I don't take back or regret a syllable of the post I wrote about Stephen Miller and Donald Trump that got me fired by ABC. I think it was an accurate, fair, and true description of those men,' Moran wrote.

Ex-ABC News reporter admits employer biased against Trump due to lack of ‘viewpoint diversity'

Former ABC News correspondent Terry Moran admitted this week his longtime employer was "biased" against President Donald Trump because the newsroom is filled with like-minded liberals and lacks "viewpoint diversity." Moran, who spent nearly 28 years at ABC News, was dropped by the outlet in June after attacking President Donald Trump and White House aide Stephen Miller on social media. He now offers his commentary on Substack and penned a look at the future of CBS News after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said incoming ownership would implement an ombudsman to "root out the bias" last week when approving a long-planned merger. "Let's talk about bias. I worked at ABC News for almost 28 years, and I'm proud to say that," Moran wrote on his Substack on Tuesday. "But: Were we biased? Yes. Almost inadvertently, I'd say. ABC News has the same problem so many leading cultural institutions do in America: A lack of viewpoint diversity." Terry Moran Out At Abc News Following X Post Attacking Trump, Stephen Miller Moran explained that ABC News was run by "White men" when he joined the network, but the Disney-owned news organization made efforts to increase diversity to change the company "for the better." "But there was one way ABC did not change and did not diversify. It is no secret. There are hardly any people who supported Donald Trump at ABC News," Moran wrote. Read On The Fox News App "And this is bound to impact coverage, not so much out of malevolent bias… but more out of what is a kind of deafness," Moran continued. Yes, news teams go out with a microphone and a camera and accost people at Trump rallies; but to me that often comes off as weirdly anthropological and inaccurate, kind of like trying to understand nature by visiting a zoo." Moran added that it might "sound strange" coming from someone who was shown the door for an anti-Trump outburst, but he played devil's advocate to Trump critics inside ABC News. "But inside the newsroom, I had a reputation of trying to get colleagues to see the other side, to walk a mile in the shoes of MAGA, to acknowledge the democratic forces that have made Donald Trump the dominant political figure of our time," Moran wrote. "So, yes, from my perspective, the old news networks are biased." ABC News did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Abc News Insider Says There Was 'No Alternative' But For Network To Fire Terry Moran Over Anti-trump Post Moran's firing came less than six weeks after he interviewed Trump as part of a major primetime special for ABC marking Trump's first 100 days in office. Trump repeatedly chided Moran for his various lines of questioning. Moran was axed by ABC News in June, just before his contract with the network was set to expire, after he called Trump and Miller "world-class" haters. "The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism," Moran began his post. "Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that's not what's interesting about Miller. It's not brains. It's bile." "Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He's a world-class hater," Moran wrote. "You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate." Moran's post went on to also call Trump a "world-class hater" but added that "his hatred [is] only a means to an end, and that end [is] his own glorification. That's his spiritual nourishment."
