Report: Former New York Jets general manager lands new job with Super Bowl champs

Yahoo21-05-2025

Six years after leaving Philadelphia, Joe Douglas is making a return.
The former New York Jets general manager is joining the Eagles as a senior scout, sources confirmed to Philly Inquirer's Jeff McLane on Monday. Douglas served as Philadelphia's vice president of player personnel from 2016-19.

Douglas played a role in building the Eagles roster that defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
The success he had in Philly led to the Jets hiring him as their general manager in 2019. However, that success didn't carry over as New York had no winning seasons or playoff appearances with Douglas as GM.
The Jets fired Douglas in November after a 3-8 start to the 2024 season. They went 30-64 during his tenure.
But now Douglas returns to a team he's not only familiar with, but had great success with and will look to help the Eagles to a second straight Super Bowl victory.

Adam Schefter puts timetable on Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey trade

The post Adam Schefter puts timetable on Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. Jalen Ramsey, the Miami Dolphins' star cornerback, might be gearing up for another move, and it could happen sooner than we expect. During a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN insider Adam Schefter expressed his belief that the Dolphins are likely to trade Ramsey 'before the start of training camp,' noting that the team is in active discussions with several other clubs. Advertisement Ramsey seems to have his eyes set on a return to the West Coast, with Schefter mentioning that the talented cornerback 'would like to go to Los Angeles — Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that.' The 30-year-old player spent four successful seasons with the Rams, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro title before being traded to Miami in 2023. While there's no deal finalized just yet, the Dolphins have been exploring trade options for Ramsey for months, even before the NFL Draft. Teams like the Rams, Chargers, Steelers, and Commanders have been floated as potential candidates. Schefter reiterated: 'Jalen Ramsey will get traded.' To wrap up a deal, the Dolphins might have to absorb part of Ramsey's contract. His impressive $24.235 million salary for 2025 might scare off some potential teams, but if Miami makes a post-June 1 trade, they could clear up $9.9 million in cap space. This extra financial wiggle room could be crucial as they aim to tweak their roster before training camp begins. Even though he's turning 30 this offseason, Ramsey remains a prominent figure in the league. His impressive track record includes six Pro Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl victory with the Rams. Steelers Nation suggested Ramsey as the missing piece to bolster a playoff-caliber defense as they head into 2025. Ramsey's offseason training sessions in California with former Rams safety Eric Weddle have only added fuel to the speculation of a possible reunion in L.A., while other contenders keep a close eye on the situation as camp approaches. Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers' ‘awareness' blasted by analyst

The post Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers' 'awareness' blasted by analyst appeared first on ClutchPoints. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was blasted by Colin Cowherd on Thursday his lack of awareness. Pittsburgh has its answer under center for the 2025 season, signing the future Hall of Famer to a one-year deal. It was not easy for the Steelers to add Rodgers, but the franchise hopes their new quarterback can propel them up the AFC ladder. Advertisement As Aaron acclimates to his new teammates, a recent report came out of the four-time MVP blasting his former team, the New York Jets. Cowherd addressed Rodgers' criticisms of the Jets in an episode of The Herd on Thursday. 'For Aaron to be upset with the Jets' run game and dysfunction, bro, the Jets have been dysfunctional for a decade and a half. You chose them. This goes to the heart of what I've said about Aaron. I'm not saying he's not smart, and I'm not saying he's not talented, but I don't love his decision-making. 'Robert Saleh was on the hot seat. You chose him. Nat Hackett was a disaster in Denver. You chose him. He just lacks an awareness that feels so obvious to me for a smart guy. Aaron led the league as a quarterback in non-football stuff seeping into the locker room. Awareness.' Fortunately for the Steelers' new quarterback, he is not heading into a dysfunctional situation in Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season during his 18 years in charge, and Pittsburgh's run game is on another level compared to the Jets. Advertisement While Russell Wilson certainly was not bad last season, the quarterback position has not been a clear strength for the Steelers since Ben Roethlisberger was under center. Tomlin and company hope that Rodgers can kick the offense into a new, explosive gear, especially since the AFC contenders going into 2025 all share one thing in common: elite quarterback play. However, Rodgers will have to turn back the clock a bit in order to live up to expectations. The 41-year-old had an uneven season with the Jets and certainly is not what he used to be with the Green Bay Packers. It's certainly a gamble the Steelers decided to make when signing Rodgers. But his arm is still lively, and according to reports from minicamp, he seems to be in good shape. Overall, Pittsburgh is once again trying to take that good-to-great step. The AFC North will be its usual competitive self as the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals have their own Super Bowl expectations. That said, with better quarterback play, the Steelers have the talent to compete with anyone in the league.
