Time of India6 days ago
Patna: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved two major infrastructure projects of the road construction department (RCD), together valued at Rs 2,043 crore, aimed at improving road and bridge connectivity in the state capital.
The move is expected to ease traffic flow on Nehru Path and improve access between AIIMS Patna and Ganga Path, said S Siddharth, additional Chief secretary of the cabinet secretariat department.
The first project, with an estimated cost of Rs 675 crore, involves the construction of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Path Chakra at select points on Nehru Path. It includes the development of subways, overpasses and U-turns, designed to reduce congestion and enhance both the safety and smoothness of traffic movement along one of Patna's busiest corridors.
The second project addresses long-standing connectivity issues between AIIMS Patna and Ganga Path. The cabinet approved the revised estimate of Rs 1,368 crore for its construction and completion. The work includes building a two-lane road and a four-lane elevated road from AIIMS Patna (NH-98) to the Patna end of the Digha rail-cum-road bridge.
In addition, pending work by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), specifically the approach road between AIIMS Patna and the Digha bridge, will be completed.

The project also includes a new link road to connect the Digha rail-cum-road bridge with Ashok Rajpath, further enhancing urban connectivity.
The cabinet also approved amendments to the Bihar Fire Service Rules, 2021, to include safety checklists for elevated and underground metro stations, platforms and depots under the ongoing Patna metro rail construction project. Once amended, the rules will be renamed Bihar Fire Service (Amended) Rules, 2025.
The first section of the Patna metro is expected to be inaugurated in the second week of Aug.
Commenting on the two Patna-centric road projects, RCD minister Nitin Nabin said, "These projects vindicate the vision of CM Nitish Kumar to make Patna accessible from any part of the state in three and a half hours by 2027. The projects are aimed at making that vision a real possibility."

China's Ant Group to fully exit Paytm by selling 5.84% stake

China's Ant Group is all set to exit One 97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, as it plans to sell its remaining 5.84% equity stake in the fintech firm through block deals on Tuesday. Sources said that the total value of the deal is pegged at Rs 3,800 crore. The floor price for the block deal has been fixed at Rs 1,020 per share, a 5.4% discount to Paytm's last closing price of Rs 1,078.20 on Monday on the NSE. The stake sale is likely to be executed as a clean-out trade, indicating a full exit of Antfin's specified stake in a single tranche. At the end of the June quarter, Antfin (Netherlands) Holding B.V. held a 5.84% stake, or 3.77 crore shares in the company, according to exchange data. Antfin has been reducing its stake in Paytm in recent quarters. This is the third significant stake sale by the Ant Group in One 97 Communications and is expected to lead to the full exit of the Chinese investor from the company. In May 2025 and August 2023, the Alibaba-owned company sold about a 14.3% stake of Paytm for about Rs 8,830 crore.
