The Irish version of the smash show will hit screens here on August 31. However, RTE have not disclosed whether The Traitors Ireland will air at 6:30pm - like Dancing With The Stars - or at the later time of 9:25pm after the news. An RTE source told The Irish Sun: 'That scheduling information will be available next week.' Advertisement Excitement increased today as the national broadcaster also released a new promo for the hit show, featuring host Siobhan. The nail-biting reality competition sees a group of strangers arrive at Slane Castle to play the ultimate game of deception, betrayal and trust, all in the hope of winning up to €50,000. But, hidden amongst them are the Traitors, who will attempt to secretly murder a player every night, without getting caught. It's up to the others, the Faithfuls, to try to detect who the Traitors are, and banish them from the game, before they become their next victim. An RTE release added: 'Expect conniving glances over banquet breakfasts, whispers in corridors and enough drama to make even the most loyal viewer question their instincts. As tension rises and alliances crumble, viewers will be left asking: who's lying, who's loyal and who's next?' Advertisement Filming of the reality show took place at Slane Castle earlier this year with the identity of the winner now a closely guarded secret. Owner of Slane Castle, Alex Conyngham - son of the late Henry Mount Charles - has revealed how he and his family lived on the top floor of the castle while below them contestants were being murdered in the nail-biting psychological reality competition. The Traitors shock as surprise winners walk away with £90k cash prize in VERY tense scenes He told us: 'Living on top of a film set is an unusual one, but I grew up with a bit of that because the movie The Great Train Robbery was filmed here with Sean Connery. "But this was a little bit different and more intense but I have to say it that (producer) Darren (Smith) and the whole crew were very respectful to us.' Advertisement OFFER CONSIDERATION Alex revealed he had to give it some serious consideration when Irish TV producers approached him to open up his ancestral home to all the mind games, missions, and unexpected twists for which the hit show is famous. He said: 'I had to look at it (offer) closely as you do with any heritage asset. I was concerned with the impact on the building but once we understood how it would work, we said yes. "The great thing with this castle is we have such an array of different rooms and scenery and I suppose that's what got everyone excited.' 'HE LOVED IT' The son of rock 'n' roll aristocrat Henry Mount Charles, said his dad, who died in June after filming wrapped, was "amused" by goings on in the TV show which sees constant murders, and betrayals. Advertisement Alex said: 'It would take a lot to surprise my dad. He loved the whole thing.' RTE announced that Republic of Telly host Kevin McGahern will host a spin-off show, The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, in which celebrity guests and players from the game will discuss the latest betrayals, mind games and manipulations. Filmed in RTE Limerick, each episode will feature an exclusive interview with the banished or murdered player. With bonus unseen footage, some will learn the identity of the Traitors for the very first time. 3 The show will air on RTE One later this month Credit: RTE

The Traitors Ireland set to premiere at the end of the month

RTÉ has confirmed that The Traitors Ireland, the highly anticipated Irish version of the reality competition series, will officially premiere on Sunday, 31 August. The series will be hosted by Siobhán McSweeney, best known for her role as Sister Michael in Derry Girls. Set in Slane Castle in County Meath, the show will bring the psychological tension and strategic gameplay of the international format to Irish audiences for the first time. The Traitors, which was originally developed in the Netherlands, has achieved widespread success in several countries, including Britain and the US. The show involves a group of people, referred to as the "Faithful", competing to win a cash prize of €50,000. However, hidden among them are a small number of "Traitors", whose aim is to vote out the other contestants and claim the prize money for themselves. Each episode includes a series of tasks and a group vote, where contestants attempt to identify and banish the people they think are Traitors. If the Faithful successfully remove all Traitors by the final episode, they share the prize money. However, if a Traitor remains undetected, they get the full amount of prize money. RTÉ has described the series as a "spine-tingling" production, filmed in a location that enhances the atmosphere of secrecy and tension. In addition to the main programme, RTÉ will air a companion after-show titled Uncloaked, hosted by comedian Kevin McGahern. The show, produced in RTÉ's Limerick studio, will offer analysis and commentary on each episode, including reactions to key moments and eliminations. The British version, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, attracted more than eight million viewers for its season two finale, while the US version, available via NBCUniversal's Peacock platform, has been renewed for a third, fourth, and fifth season. The Traitors Ireland aims to build on that momentum with a distinctly Irish version of the show. The series will be available to watch weekly on RTÉ One and via RTÉ Player starting 31 August 2025. Pic: Jeff Spicer/BAFTA/Getty Images for BAFTA RTÉ released a teaser for the new series that confirmed its arrival later this August, with a sultry voiceover from the hostess herself. McSweeney's voiceover teases: 'Traitors… They walk amongst us, studying our strengths, our weaknesses, building trust and waiting… Waiting for the opportune time to strike and break that trust, unless you catch them before it's too late. 'Expect a game of deception, deceit and death. This is The Traitors Ireland,' as she adds: 'Ready to play?' The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked Pic: RTÉ As it stands, no contestants have been confirmed for the show, but casting took place last year, with Kite Entertainment even calling out for people during the Ploughing Championships in 2024. While the US and UK versions are shot in Scotland, ours stays closer to home, being shot in Slane Castle. For those who haven't become obsessed with the show and are unfamiliar with how it all works, the reality competition is based on the Dutch version De Verraders and sees 22 contestants try to identify who has been selected by the host as a Traitor and the number can vary from season to season. The Traitors. Pic: All3Media International The Traitors murder a Faithful a night in the hopes of winning the jackpot, and it's up to the Faithful to 'banish' the Traitors before the knock them all off. If any Traitors remain by the end of the game, they win the prize money, but if all have been discovered by then, the money is shared between the remaining Faithful. The Irish contestants will be competing for up to €50,000!
