Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page wrote autobiography at night in pub car park
"I love telling stories and was very exciting thinking I'm going to write my life story because a lot of things have happened. But, trying to do that while looking after four children and four guinea pigs and a hunky husband is quite hard work," she told Behnaz Akhgar on BBC Radio Wales. "So at five o'clock I'll hand the kids over to James, make myself a quick cup of tea, grab a chocolate bar and drive to a little local pub that is just waiting to change hands, so nobody is going there. "I'll park in the car park, think of stories and write notes until 11.30 at night when I'll start freaking out, thinking I'm going to get attacked."So then I will drive to the car park of this cricket pitch closer to our house and work until about 1.30 in the morning and it's pitch black outside. When I think about it now it's ridiculous. "Then I drive back at home, park in front of the house, and then, no word of a lie, continue to work outside because if I go back in, [youngest child] Bo will sense me, wake up, and then everyone will wake up, and I won't be able to work at all. "So I'll work until five in the morning. At that point think, I'm near death, and I just think I can't go on any more. So I go inside, sleep for two hours, get up at 7 to get the kids ready for school and get on with the rest of the day and being with Bo. That is where my life is at the moment."
Her autobiography, entitled Lush, recounts her youth in a small village near Swansea, graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art [Rada] and early stage and screen performances before her big break in the Bafta-winning sitcom Gavin and Stacey.This has led to countless TV and film roles, including romantic comedy Love Actually as well as regular presenting and, more recently, podcasts."It was very strange going back to the beginning. Thinking and talking of everything has been like a therapy session and quite liberating."But it does freak you out a bit as well, because I don't think I've ever analysed myself this much before. I'm an impulsive person so to think about everything so much has been quite scary."
Scary but perhaps inevitable given Page reveals how three fortune tellers predicted she would become a writer.But it should be little surprise that she did not seek help from close friend and Gavin and Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones."She's so busy with her own stuff I think she'd be sick to death of me asking 'can you help me with this and that?'"
The title of her autobiography, due out in September, is synonymous with her most famous character - Stacey Shipman - but Page believes Lush also sums up her own personality.She admits to crying "constantly" throughout filming of the final episode last year, then while watching with with her own family on Christmas Day and then being left a "wreck" after watching the documentary that followed."I'm just such a sentimental and emotional person anyway. My emotions are always so much on the surface that it got to the second day [of filming], I mean we were only on day two, I just started crying," she said."There was so much joy and so much laughter because we all knew this will be the last time that we're here, playing these characters in these costumes, all together, doing this story. "You think about how far all our lives have gone. I started it when I was 29, and for something to be there in the background for the whole of your life. "And then, even though, Ruth and James would say to us, that's it, it's done, you've still got that feeling in the back of your head, oh surely, in a few years, there might be something. But now knowing that's never going to happen again, it's just so sad."

Guests and release date revealed for second season of Meghan's lifestyle show
Netflix has released a trailer for season two of the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show – a day after the Sussexes announced a watered-down deal with the streaming giant. The teaser, which Meghan also shared on her Instagram, revealed that the next instalment of With Love, Meghan will air in two weeks' time on August 26. Among the celebrity guests joining the former Suits star during the eight episodes will be US model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen and Queer Eye star Tan France, as well as podcaster Jay Shetty and his cookbook author wife Radhi Devlukia. Also appearing will be chefs Samin Nosrat, Clare Smyth, Christina Tosi, Jose Andres and David Chang, and Meghan's close friends, pilates instructor Heather Dorak and make up artist Daniel Martin. The trailer, to the soundtrack of Bobby Day's upbeat Rockin' Robin, showed Meghan cooking, baking and crafting with her celebrity friends and saying: 'I love the idea of just spending time together … and finding new ways to show people you care.' She adds while being shown wrapping a gift: 'There are easy ways to show up, lovingly.' Meghan also reveals the Duke of Sussex is not a fan of lobster. She tells Andres as they prepare a dish together: 'Do you know who doesn't like lobster? My husband,' with the chef replying, prompting laughter from Meghan: 'And you marry (sic) him?' On Monday, Harry and Meghan announced a 'multi-year, first-look deal for film and television projects', in contrast to their reported 100 million dollar (£74 million) contract five years ago. PR and crisis expert Mark Borkowski described it as a 'downgrade', and suggested Netflix was 'pivoting away' from Harry and Meghan. Season one of With Love, Meghan was savaged by critics. One review in The Guardian described it as a 'gormless lifestyle filler' and 'so pointless it might be the Sussexes' last TV show'. The series has a 3.2 rating out of 10 on Netflix said at the time that the second season had already finished filming. The duchess officially launched her lifestyle brand As Ever, in which Netflix is a partner, just hours after season one premiered in March. She has gone on to sell jam, pre-made baking mixes, herbal tea and rose wine – as well as flower sprinkles, which she heavily promoted during the programme and which are also seen being used in the new trailer.

BBC Radio Scotland's Bryan Burnett to return to airwaves after cancer treatment
BBC Radio Scotland presenter Bryan Burnett will return to the airwaves on Thursday after undergoing cancer treatment. The broadcaster announced in June he would step back from his programme Get It On to receive care for appendix cancer. Fellow presenter Grant Stott, who stepped in during his absence, announced his return to listeners on Tuesday night. He said: 'In what must have been a terrible time for Bryan and his family and close friends, I'm just delighted I was able to help by looking after something that is very precious to Bryan; Get It On and his listeners. 'Getting to do the show over this time has shown me just how close the audience is to Bryan and vice versa. 'I know they will be delighted to get their radio teatime pal back.' Burnett said his treatment had been successful and thanked those who had wished him well throughout his recovery. Commenting on his return, he said: 'I am delighted to be returning to work following successful treatment for appendix cancer. 'Over the past few months I have been focused on my recovery and have been supported by an incredible medical team, my family and friends, and the overwhelming kindness of so many BBC Radio Scotland listeners who have reached out with encouragement and well-wishes. 'Their messages, cards and kindness have meant so much. 'My team at the BBC have also been a huge support and I want to thank Grant Stott, who has been sitting in for me and done such a great job looking after the show. 'My return to work will be gradual to ensure I maintain my health and energy. Cancer has given me a renewed perspective on what matters most and I am excited about the road ahead and grateful for the opportunity to return to doing what I'm passionate about.' Hayley Valentine, director BBC Scotland, said: 'Like the Get it On listeners, everyone at BBC Scotland is delighted to be welcoming Bryan back to the studio following what has been a tough couple of months for him. We look forward to seeing and hearing him back where he belongs.' Stott will share Get it On presenting duties with Bryan during his phased return. Viewers have slammed the storyline as 'unrealistic' and 'garbage', with some even vowing to ditch the soap for good. Most complained about soap storylines Over the years, all three of the main soaps have featured plots that have had even die-hard fans reaching for their phones and laptops so they can get in touch with Ofcom and complain. EastEnders baby theft: 13,400 Ofcom complaints - Back in 2011, EastEnders was flooded with complaints when Ronnie Branning (RIP) swapped her baby for the dead son of Kat Moon. Coronation Street double murder: 546 Ofcom complaints - Marginally less people complained about a gruesome double murder than objected to a dog-napping plot when Pat Phelan was at the centre of a spate of killings. All the bloodshed back in 2017 proved to be too much for some viewers, who lodged complaints in vast numbers about the 'violent scenes'. Taking to an online forum, one fan wrote: "Avani seems to have had a personality transplant. Does she not remember her step-grandmother has already raised 4 children? This is not her chance." Another said: "The Suki storyline being positioned as some sort of heart-warming tale of motherhood and not the coercion and abuse story that it actually is so inappropriate." To make matters worse, the same episode saw Patrick (Rudolph Walker) suddenly spiral into a gambling problem, despite two decades of betting without a hitch. Viewers were left scratching their heads and branding the writing "tedious" and "a challenge to watch." One said: "I hate how Patrick has gambled for 20+ years and now all of a sudden it's a problem." Another added: "Patrick has gambled since the first day Yolande met him.
