Apple WWDC 2025 Highlights - Check everything that happened

Apple at WWDC 2025 has unveiled upgrades to operating systems across its devices on Monday, including overhauled visual elements, a fresh naming system for software updates and new features in its Apple Intelligence suite. At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, the company also said it would open up the underlying technology it uses for Apple Intelligence to developers. Operating Systems This year's major iOS release would have originally been called iOS 19, following the usual sequence after iOS 18. However, Apple is now changing its naming convention: future iOS versions will be numbered based on the year following their release—similar to how car manufacturers name new models. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Costco Shoppers Say This Wrinkle Cream Is "Actually Worth It" The Skincare Magazine Undo Several parts of the operating systems are getting a major visual overhaul as part of the redesign. The Phone app now includes call screening, allowing it to answer calls or wait on hold for you. The Messages app is also getting updates that include customizable chat backgrounds. Apple also said it would add generative AI to its Xcode coding tools that can help developers write code, test it and resolve errors. The company said it would add other coding models such as ChatGPT to Xcode. Live Events Apple AI New additions to the operating system include Live Translation, which uses on-device AI models to translate conversations in real time, in text messages, phone calls or FaceTime. Apple Pay is also getting Apple Intelligence integration, enabling it to track orders even for purchases made outside Apple Pay. Meanwhile, Image Playground is getting a boost with a new feature that allows users to generate images with the help of OpenAI's ChatGPT. Study to map gaps in mass transit system plan as new metro corridor taking shape in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has decided to conduct a traffic study to evaluate whether the existing metro and public transport plans sufficiently address current and future needs. HMRTC has floated a tender for a study, which will be undertaken by a consultant agency expected to be onboarded shortly, with completion targeted within four months. An HMRTC official said, "With new residential sectors, industrial hubs and commercial zones developing, it is the right time to reassess metro accessibility and future needs." The missing links — as HMRTC calls it — will be assessed for their ridership potential, feasibility, estimated cost and integration with existing infrastructure. The consultant will "review" existing public transport services, including bus operations and para-transit networks and their role in supporting or limiting metro connectivity. The consultant will prepare detailed projections for travel needs for the next 30 years. The HMRTC official said the review is essential, as many parts of the city — especially peripheral and newly developing sectors — remain outside the metro's reach. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo "The study will also help pinpoint potential new corridors that could complement existing plans, plug critical gaps and expand metro coverage in underserved areas," the official said. The decision comes amid rapid urban expansion, growing population and expanding residential and commercial zones. As of now, the city has only 17km of metro (5.3km of Delhi Metro's Yellow Line and 11.7km of Rapid Metro). The new Millennium City Centre-Cyber City line, approved in 2023, is now in the tendering stage for Phase 1 (MCC to Sector 9). While there is no official figure for the current population, estimates suggest the city has crossed 25 lakh and by 2031, the Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex (GMUC) area is projected to accommodate over 42.5 lakh residents. The study will map existing metro connectivity and identify new corridors. HMRTC believes the current metro expansion plan "needs a comprehensive review to accommodate shifting travel patterns and emerging growth centres", an official said. Each proposed corridor will be mapped digitally, with tentative station locations and phase-wise implementation plans. HMRTC's study, which comes amid the city's worsening traffic congestion and inadequate public transport, will focus on the master plan of GMUC. It aims to plug connectivity gaps in the Comprehensive Mobility Management Plan (CMMP) drafted in 2020. The CMMP in 2020 proposed a 200km network of metro and rapid rail corridors. Of the ten Mass Rapid Transit System lines, only one corridor — 29.05km between Millennium City Centre and Cyber Hub — is currently under implementation. Others, such as Sector 56–Pachgaon via Manesar, Bhondsi–Sohna Chowk–Railway Station and Golf Course Extension Road–Millennium City Centre–Sector 5, are still in the planning stages.

Apple Event 2025: Liquid Glass meltdown? iOS 26 redesign explodes in memes and backlash — Here's why

Apple's unveiling of its all-new Liquid Glass design for iOS 26 at the WWDC 2025 event has triggered a wave of online chatter, with Twitter (X) emerging as the epicentre of global reactions. Billed as the most dramatic visual shift since iOS 7, the update marks a departure from Apple's long-standing minimalist aesthetic—but not all users seem impressed. The redesign, which brings a glass-like transparency and a sense of spatial depth to the iOS interface, was introduced with much fanfare. However, the (Twitterverse) Xverse—often the first to deliver unfiltered verdicts—offered a mixed, and at times humorous, response. Major Overhaul Raises Eyebrows Apple claims the Apple Liquid Glass design aims to blend elegance with functionality, bringing fluid visuals across native apps and throughout the operating system. The design incorporates translucent layers that shift with movement, aiming to create a more immersive, intuitive user experience. Drawing inspiration from the recently launched Apple Vision Pro and paving the way for the upcoming 20th-anniversary iPhone, iOS 26 is being positioned as a visual leap forward. Memes and Sarcasm: Users Respond Twitter/X users quickly responded with a barrage of memes and tongue-in-cheek commentary. Battery health concerns and performance issues were among the top gripes. One user wrote, Live Events 'My 85% battery health iPhone 13 trying to run Liquid Glass on iOS 26.' My 85% battery health iPhone 13 trying to run Liquid Glass on iOS 26 — GSX (@GigaSyntax) June 9, 2025 Another popular tweet mocked Apple's focus, saying, 'Market: 'we want AI.' Apple: best we can do is liquid glass display.' Market: "we want AI" Apple: best we can do is liquid glass display $AAPL #WWDC25 — Javelin Capital (@Jimmy_Javelin) June 9, 2025 Comments also took aim at usability, with one user stating, 'The new liquid glass looks abysmal and is a perfect example of focusing on form over functionality. Like, what are we doing here?' the new liquid glass looks abysmal and is a perfect example of focusing on form/prettiness/design over of functionality/readability/practicality like, what are we doing here — puddi (@puddi) June 9, 2025 These sentiments were echoed by others who felt the redesign placed too much emphasis on aesthetics at the expense of readability and practical performance. "Liquid Glass" — Morning Brew ☕️ (@MorningBrew) June 9, 2025 So Apple is throwing accessibility to the wind with their liquid glass design? None of this looks easy to read especially for people like me with learning disabilities, specifically Dyslexia. What happened to universal design? #WWDC25 #WWDC2025 #UniversalDesign — Dani Alexandria (@DaniAlexMusic) June 9, 2025 Is it just me or does liquid glass make everything hard to read? #AppleEvent — Nick Godwin @ WWDC25 (@nickgdwn) June 9, 2025 A Split Verdict: Innovation or Overreach? Despite the criticism, a section of the Apple faithful praised the bold visual shift, calling it 'a breath of fresh air' and a welcome evolution from the flat, clinical interface that had defined iOS for over a decade. Some drew comparisons to the skeuomorphic-to-flat transition seen in iOS 7, noting that early skepticism back then eventually gave way to widespread acceptance. Design experts have noted that Apple Liquid Glass design may signal a move toward more tactile, human-centric digital environments as hardware capabilities continue to grow. However, critics argue that such changes should enhance rather than complicate the user experience. What's next? With the public beta of iOS 26 expected in July and a full rollout planned for later this year, it remains to be seen whether Apple will refine aspects of the design based on user feedback—or if it will stick to its vision, betting that initial resistance will fade with time. Until then, Twitter remains a real-time forum for users grappling with the implications of translucent icons and shimmering menu bars—one witty post at a time. FAQs What is the Liquid Glass design in iOS 26? Liquid Glass is Apple's new design language for iOS 26, featuring translucent, glass-like interface elements that shift dynamically based on ambient light and device movement. It brings depth, spatial layering, and fluid visuals to the operating system. When was the Liquid Glass design announced? Apple unveiled the Liquid Glass design at its WWDC 2025 event, positioning it as the most significant iOS visual redesign since iOS 7.
