Pati Patni Aur Panga: Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary stir things up on ‘Laughter Chefs' with Bengali food challenge; says 'For us Bengalis, food is an extension of our stories...'
Gurmeet Choudhary
dropped by with a heartfelt request and a whole lot of sweetness! Known as the couple goals, the duo lit up the stage with their charm, spoke about their upcoming reality show 'Pati Patni Aur Panga-Jodiyon Ka Reality Check', and brought a slice of Bengal to the most entertaining kitchen in India.
What followed was a celebration of flavour, fun, and fiery competition.
As Debina expressed her love for Bengali cuisine, she requested Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi to include a Bengali dish in the challenge, something that had only been featured once before on the show. True to his 'Atithi Devo Bhava' spirit, Chef Harpal said yes, and the kitchen lit up with the aroma of an iconic Bengali mithai, Fish-shaped Sondesh Kheer Kodom, becoming a battleground for creativity and chaos.
With the passion of a seasoned home chef and the pride of a Bengali daughter, Debina became the torchbearer of tradition, guiding the celebrity jodis with charm and chatter, peppered with Bengali anecdotes, tips, and hands-on demos. Gurmeet, beaming with pride, cheered her on like a true partner-in-crime. Adding their own spicy twist, Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera Shah cooked up an 'extra fish', hilariously declaring it a good-luck charm for Debina and Gurmeet's upcoming show 'Pati Patni Aur Panga'.
As the laughter rose and mithai melted hearts, the contestants served up a joy-drenched episode where flavours battled it out and bonds were baked anew. But in a kitchen where nothing is ever as simple as it seems, will the sweetest dish win, or will it all end in a fishy fiasco?
Talking about her experience on the show, Debina shared, 'Laughter Chefs is honestly one of our favourite shows to watch as a family. Gurmeet and I love the madness and warmth it brings—it feels like you're part of the fun even from your living room. When I realised Bengali cuisine had only been featured once, I just had to bring that up. For us Bengalis, food is an extension of our stories, emotions, and culture. I requested Chef Harpal to include a Bengali dish, and he agreed without hesitation! When he announced 'Fish-shaped Sondesh Kheer Kodom' as the challenge, I was thrilled.
What made it even more special was sharing our tradition with everyone on set. And now, with Pati Patni Aur Panga, this feels like the perfect start to the celebrations—we're bringing our real chemistry to your screens very soon!'

Maalik Box Office Day 4: Rajkummar Rao's Film Sees Lowest Single-Day Collection With Rs 1 Crore
Maalik Box Office Collection Day 4: Rajkummar Rao's Maalik, with Manushi Chhillar and Prosenjit Chatterjee, earned Rs 1 crore on Day 4, totaling Rs 15.59 crore. Maalik Box Office Collection Day 4: Rajkummar Rao's Maalik, which hit the big screens last Friday, started its journey on a promising note with a solid ensemble cast including Manushi Chhillar and Prosenjit Chatterjee. Over the weekend, the film held its ground well. But come Monday, the film hit its slowest day yet. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Maalik added just Rs 1 crore to its box office tally on Day 4. With that, the film's total collection now stands a little above Rs 15 crore. While the dip isn't surprising given it was a Monday (and Mondays are notorious for pulling the brakes on most theatrical runs), it's still a crucial phase for the film to maintain momentum through the week. As per early estimates, Maalik collected Rs 1.34 crore on its fourth day at the box office — its lowest single-day earnings so far. But given it was a Monday, the dip in footfall isn't entirely unexpected. The film opened with Rs 3.75 crore on Friday. Over the weekend, it gained some momentum, bringing in Rs 5.25 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. With Monday's numbers in, Maalik's total collection now stands at Rs 15.59 crore. While the weekday drop was anticipated, the film will need steady numbers through the week. On Monday, Maalik recorded an overall 8.22 per cent Hindi occupancy in theatres. Despite the dip, Rajkummar Rao's political drama is faring better than Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, which stars Vikrant Massey and marks Shanaya Kapoor's debut. That film has struggled to make a mark since day one. However, both Hindi releases are facing a tough challenge from the international juggernaut Superman, starring David Corenswet. The superhero film has already raked in over Rs 25 crore in India over its opening weekend. Directed by Pulkit, Maalik stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. The film also features Bengali cinema icon Prosenjit Chatterjee, former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, and Saurabh Sachdeva. The supporting cast includes Saurabh Shukla, Anshumaan Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire, Rajendra Gupta, and Baljinder Kaur. The News18 review of Maalik states, 'Maalik tries hard to be the next Mirzapur but ends up feeling like its distant cousin who was never invited to the family reunion. Pankaj Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya's Mirzapur gave us a gritty storyline and iconic one-liners; however, Maalik serves as a recycled crime saga with no real punch. The violence feels random, the plot goes haywire post-interval, and the emotional beats just don't land. It's like watching someone try to recreate a gangster masterpiece with leftover scenes from Mirzapur." Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'Parineeta' to return to cinemas for 20th anniversary in remastered glory
MUMBAI: The much-loved 2005 romantic drama Parineeta, starring Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan, is set to return to cinemas across India on 29 August to mark its 20th anniversary. The film, based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1914 Bengali novel, was the directorial debut of the late Pradeep Sarkar and will be re-released in a newly restored 8K version. PVR INOX and Vinod Chopra Films made the announcement on Wednesday, revealing that the remastered film will be screened nationwide in celebration of its enduring legacy. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who produced the film and recently helmed the critically acclaimed 12th Fail, shared his fondness for Parineeta. 'It's more than just a film—it's a journey of love, elegance, and soulful music,' Chopra said. 'Every frame carries its own emotion, evolving with the story in a way that touches something deep within. I am proud of Pradeep Sarkar for the way he captured the grandeur of old Kolkata and infused it with timeless beauty. In this restored version, the visuals are even richer, and the locations more breathtaking.' Set in 1960s Kolkata, Parineeta tells the story of childhood friends Lalita (Vidya Balan) and Shekhar (Saif Ali Khan), whose deepening bond is tested by class tensions and familial conflict. When Shekhar's father attempts to acquire Lalita's uncle's house to build a hotel, the revelation creates a rift—until family friend Girish (Sanjay Dutt) intervenes, causing further misunderstanding between the lovers. For Balan, who made her Bollywood debut with the film, the re-release is deeply emotional. 'Parineeta is where it all began,' she said in a statement. 'Every frame of the film carries a piece of my heart, and I'll forever be grateful to Pradeep da and Mr Vinod Chopra for believing in me. Even after all these years, people remember the film, the songs, and how it made them feel. People say every frame is like a painting—and that is Pradeep Sarkar's magic. I hope new generations discover old-world love through Parineeta.'
