Even more key Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE details are now out of the bag

Phone Arena04-06-2025
Even though we still don't have an official launch date for Samsung's next big Android-powered foldables, the start of the company's buzz-building campaign certainly suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Z Fold 7 , and possibly, Z Fold 7 Ultra are right around the corner. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise that more and more tipsters feel confident in predicting more and more details about three of those fast-approaching devices... after their designs have already been leaked in trustworthy factory CAD-based renders and even a wild real-life photograph. Galaxy Z Fold 7 : 12GB RAM + 256GB storage; 12 + 512GB; 16GB + 1TB;
: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage; 12 + 512GB; 16GB + 1TB; Galaxy Z Flip 7 : 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 12 + 256GB; 12 + 512GB;
: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 12 + 256GB; 12 + 512GB; Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 8 + 256GB. Wait, wasn't all this information revealed just yesterday? Not exactly. Arsène Lupin, aka @MysteryLupin, actually adds to the details leaked by WinFuture's Roland Quandt, thus providing a more complete picture of Samsung's 2025 foldable portfolio (minus the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which may or may not be a real thing).
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to start with an underwhelming 8GB RAM count.
The most important tidbit disclosed today that wasn't included in yesterday's report is how much RAM the Z Fold 7 , Z Flip 7 , and Z Flip 7 FE are set to pack in each storage configuration. Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will apparently be equipped with a hefty 16 gigs of memory in a top-of-the-line 1TB storage variant. That's especially notable because the most advanced (and the most expensive) Galaxy Z Fold 6 model only comes with 12GB RAM. Then again, Google's Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers a whopping 16 gigs of the good stuff in combination with as little as 256GB internal storage space, so clearly, Samsung can do even better than this if it wants to claim the best foldable trophy. The Z Flip 7 , meanwhile, is very curiously tipped to downgrade its predecessor's 12GB RAM to just 8 gigs for an entry-level 128GB storage variant while keeping the memory count of the Z Flip 6's two other configurations unchanged. That's likely to be a cost-cutting measure on Samsung's part, especially if the company aims to price the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the same starting level as last year's Z Flip 6 , but it remains to be seen if customers will understand and accept the compromise.
Speaking of compromises, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to stick to 8GB RAM in both 128 and 256GB storage variants, which is both completely unsurprising and totally fine... as long as Samsung gets the Fan Edition pricing right. Galaxy Z Fold 7 : Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red;
: Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red; Galaxy Z Flip 7 : Blue Shadow, White Black;
: Blue Shadow, White Black; Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Black, White.
The most exciting thing here is without a doubt the very swanky-sounding Coral Red-coated Z Fold 7 model, which should perfectly match the Coral Red Z Flip 7 flavor rumored yesterday.
The first-of-a-kind Z Flip 7 FE could come in just two (rather boring) color options. Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly), the Z Flip 7 FE is unlikely to join its pricier sibling and cousin in adopting such a flashy hue, instead playing things safe with black and white colorways, at least based on existing information from two different and equally reliable insiders. Circling back to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , it must be highlighted that its silver (shadow), blue (shadow), and (jet) black paint jobs are now also "confirmed" from two sources, unlike the aforementioned (coral) red color. Interestingly, the Z Flip 7 is rumored to come in a "White Black" version rather than separate white and black models, which could be an innocent typo... or a suggestion of a decidedly unconventional two-tone design that Samsung has experimented with in the past. The blue (shadow) colorway is practically etched in stone, and if history is any indication, many more paint jobs will be confirmed in the coming weeks (for both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 ).

Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 receiving One UI 8 beta

Earlier this month, Samsung confirmed that the Android 16-based One UI 8 beta program will be available for Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Z Flip6 users in several regions. As promised, the South Korean giant has now started to roll out the public beta update to users. Samsung Galaxy S24 series users in the UK and South Korea are now able to join the One UI 8 Beta Program and receive the Android 16-based software update, as per tipster Tarun Vats. The beta build is available for Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra unlocked variants. The update carries the build number S926BXXU9ZYH3/ S926BOXM9ZYH3/S926BXXU9CYH3 based on the region and is about 3.2 GB in size. The update includes the latest August 1 Android security patch as well. Your Galaxy Z Fold 7 just unlocked next-level multitasking – try it now before Samsung takes it away

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 was released not too long ago, sporting the stable One UI 8 version. Other Galaxy phones are currently testing One UI 8 beta (the Galaxy S25 series), and the beta will expand to more devices, but Samsung chose to ship its new foldables with One UI 8 stable right out of the box. And yep, it's working, but still, there is an instance where a bug has been found. And it's actually a helpful bug, believe it or not. Being a book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is an ideal device for multitasking and people looking to do more at the same time on a phone. It's a phone focused on productivity and multitasking, other than just being a fancy foldable. So, its version of One UI 8 is a bit different from what phones like the Galaxy S25 are going to get. Now, with One UI 8 , there's something called 90:10 multitasking split. This allows you to open one app on a larger portion of the screen, while having the second one take up less space. And now, this curious One UI 8 bug is giving the Z Fold 7 's multitasking abilities a bump. If you know a thing or two about foldables, you'll know that Samsung's multitasking is great, but some competitors have it even better. For one, OnePlus book-style foldables - the OnePlus Open model - have an Open Canvas feature. The feature allows for three apps to be opened on the device's main display at the same time. People have been wanting to get a similar feature on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , which supports two apps with the 90:10 split view. The bug, however, somewhat introduces "Open Canvas" to the Z Fold 7 . The bug was first spotted by Reddit user u/traneric1. Right now, everyone calls it a bug and not a feature, because it only occurs under specific circumstances. Basically, you need to open two apps in the 90:10 split view, then open and back out of the Edge Panel settings pane. Apparently, doing this makes the Galaxy Z Fold 7 'forget' it was in the 90:10 split view, and hence, you can open one more app to the side of the display. But, as this is a bug and not a legitimate feature that Samsung built for Galaxy users, it doesn't work flawlessly. For one, if you want to resize those windows, it won't work properly, as some people on Reddit have noticed. Nevertheless, just this bug being there so effortlessly shows that Samsung could pull this one off if it wants to. It's almost there, in a way, so maybe with a few tweaks to refine the feature, it could be an official one. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is great for multitasking on the go. | Image Credit - PhoneArena Unfortunately, though, Samsung has not confirmed the bug (or a feature of that sort) so at the moment, it's unclear when it will be addressed. It's also likely that users were able to spot a feature in development, something that the South Korea-based tech giant could have planned to announce (and hopefully refine) later. But the thing is, we don't know yet. I, for one, think that such a feature, similar to OnePlus' Open Canvas, is a great idea for a big book-style foldable like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 . Sometimes having a third app can be super useful while still keeping the 90:10 split view. All in all, though, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is proving to be a success. Its exquisite looks, fancy premium thinness, and elegance seem to attract quite a lot of new buyers to the foldable side. Meanwhile, Samsung's main competitor, Apple, is expected to release its first foldable iPhone towards the end of next year.
