Horrifying moment fairground waltzer came off the tracks and crashed at high speed
The car carrying three children came off the track at high speed during a family day at the shows.
This is the horrifying moment a fairground waltzer came off the tracks and crashed at high speed during a family day out in Edinburgh.
Dad-of-three Kevin McNulty and his partner Brooke were with his children, Kayla, 13, Leona, 12, and Codie, 7, at Galactic Carnival in Westside Plaza Wester Hailes on Saturday, May 10, when the frightening experience happened leaving them all in shock.
Footage shows the children on the ride, while dance music blares in the background. The cars spin around at pace and the kids seem to be enjoying the experience.
However, panic soon sets in when the car comes off the track and the children can be heard screaming in terror. The clip ends as the car comes to a stop and Kevin races around to be with his children.
Speaking to the Record, Kevin explained how he was on the car behind with Brooke when the incident happened.
He said: "I just noticed the children's car spinning our way, but it didn't stop and just smashed off us and then went flying past. I didn't think and just jumped up and off the ride while it was still going at full pelt without even thinking.
"I ran around towards where the car had landed and thankfully they were alright and hadn't suffered any injuries.
"Even today I am still in complete shock. I feel sick just thinking about it and how bad it could all have gone. We are all just extremely lucky that the children weren't badly hurt."
He said: 'Last night we were at these shows at Wester Hailes plaza...my three kids were on the waltzers and then the unthinkable happened...Going full pelt and not slowing down their car came completely off and then went flying into our car and then smashed about the place crashing into the side off the track.
"Thankfully there was a heavy large speaker that they collided with or they would have been through the whole thing and then the ending would have been a completely different story. I can't stop thinking about it.'
He continued: 'The shows continued to go, but not the waltzers. The place should have been shut down for a full inspection. It was like something you see in the movies and my kids are very, very lucky that they managed to get out of this still walking.'

Hilarious moment Colin the Caterpillar cake piped into wedding in viral clip
Jo and Will Dale decided to give their guests a laugh as they planned a Burns Night-style 'Address to Colin' with the cake carried in on an upcycled kitchen shelf. This is the hilarious moment when a Colin the Caterpillar cake was piped into a wedding in a clip that has now been viewed over 1.5million times. Jo and Will Dale, both 33, decided to give their guests a laugh as they planned a Burns Night style 'Address to Colin' with the cake carried in on an upcycled kitchen shelf. The pair weren't fussed about have a traditional wedding cake at the ceremony on Friday, June 6 - so they instead had Colin carried in to the sound of bagpipes, before a friend read out a Scots poem written especially for the occasion. Friends and family were left in hysterics - but the couple had no idea their idea was soon to be viewed by more than a million people around the world. Jo, a vet who is originally from Montrose, told the Record: "I didn't really want to do a wedding cake but Will wanted to have something, so we decided just to have a Colin. "A friend of ours does all of the Burns Nights and addresses the Haggis back home in Fife. He was coming to the wedding anyway so we thought it would be quite funny if we got him to address the caterpillar cake. "We knew the Scottish guests would like it and we thought it would be funny to have it piped in. "We just thought it would be funny and totally ridiculous - but we have America friends and half the party was English so I don't think they quite understood what was happening." Will, who works as a contracts manager, says Colin has always featured at birthday parties since he was a child - and he didn't want the iconic caterpillar to miss out at his wedding. "Colin is just a kind of institution", he said. "We've always had one at birthday parties when we were kids so we just thought, let's mix the two. I knocked up a plinth from an old kitchen shelf a couple of days before the wedding and we had it spray-painted it gold. "I got my groomsmen to put their sunglasses on to try and look cool - and they totally pulled it off." The couple, who live in Morpeth in Northumberland, said the cake went down so well at the wedding - at nearby venue Wildings - they didn't even manage to get a slice for themselves. Speaking from her honeymoon in St Andrews, Jo added: "Our friend did a personalised ode to the caterpillar Scots poem, addressing the cake. It was really good and it went down well with the guests. "I don't think anyone was bothered that there wasn't a proper wedding cake. We didn't get a slice of Colin, it went down that well. There were lucky guests going round telling people they got a slice with a Smartie on it." Speaking of their new found fame, she added: "We are not really on social media but our DJ took a video and posted it on his TikTok page but we have been told it's been viewed over 1.5million times on TikTok. "It's absolutely crazy. We never expected it to go anywhere other than the wedding." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson has opened up on her health struggles while enjoying a holiday with her footballer boyfriend. The 36-year-old has shared moments from their break in the Maldives at the luxury Kandima beach resort. Taking to Instagram, the mum has spoken up about her battle with melasma, a common skin condition in adults which can cause darkening of the skin caused by increased melanin, reports The Record. "Off to see my laser guru @rebeccatreston @ Please sort out my melasma I've missed you." She also asked her followers if they would like treatment recommendations or advice, if anyone may be suffering from a similar skin condition. "Do you suffer from pigmentation/melasma/sun spots?," she asked. "Okay guys I have been in the sun all day, always wear my factor 50 and my hat but I think with melasma you still get affected with just the heat so I always try and keep my face really cool. "That's a tip that I learnt, but I'm going to see Rebecca now but look," she gestured as she pointed her face towards the camera. "I don't know if you can see this all kind of multiplied again come back, this is me completely bare faced." She continued: "You can see it here there's definitely a difference between freckles. I love freckles, love to embrace them, but sun spots, melasma, pigmentation is different and can be quite ageing. (Image: Instagram) "I quite like the little bits on my lips but I just want to remove that and Rebecca has all the best lasers in Dubai," as she gestured to her cheekbones. "She always teaches me things and has new techniques that I've never heard of before which are incredibly effective." The star added: "So we are going to go today with pico, really quick easy. I don't think there's any down time so yeah, let's get rid of this." Elsewhere, Laura took to Instagram last week following her house move in a gushing post over how lucky she is in her new home alongside daughter Bonnie, who she shares with ex Gary Lucy. She also gave a special mention to boyfriend Clark, 31. "Busy and booked, The Man of my dreams and a daughter to die for. I never ever thought I'd have all 3," Laura wrote. She added: "And a huge shout out to @ssremovals for moving my life AGAIN! That Ikea wardrobe will officially never be assembled again I promise." The first clip showed the couple sharing a kiss in the expansive outdoor garden. Another video clip showed Laura holding daughter Bonnie as she stood at the front entrance of her new home with Clark. The home boasts grand floor to ceiling windows offering plenty of natural light, looking out onto the impressive garden. Bonnie even has her own play room, which Laura showed off to fans previously. Bonnie and her dog Buddy will certainly have no lack of space in the new home. The influencer was delighted to update fans that her dog was finally coming home, after being away from them for a few months when he didn't settle in her previous Glasgow flat.

American tries Percy Pig for first time but makes 'crucial mistake'
Percy Pigs are a beloved British sweet produced by Marks & Spencer, and an American visiting the UK decided to try them among other popular British snacks – but made one 'big mistake' An American tried Percy Pigs for the first time, but made one 'crucial mistake.' The UK boasts several iconic savoury and sweet snacks, including Percy Pig. The beloved pig-shaped gummy treat has been a popular confectionary in the UK for many years, enjoyed by both adults and children. Created by Marks & Spencer (M&S), it has become a favourite for many British people – so much so that visitors to the country will often seek them out. Kevin Escalera, based in Miami, Florida, is a food and travel vlogger who tries popular snacks when visiting different countries. Known as Snack Eating Snacks online, he recently shared a video on TikTok sampling a range of British snacks from crisps to chocolates to sweet treats, like Percy Pig, while visiting the UK. Kevin said: 'We [have] got the Percy the pig fizzy gummies and these are supposedly super popular here. Everyone told me I had to try them.' Taking a bite, he remarked: 'Mmmm, they have a great chew to them, a little sour. These are fantastic gummies and I'm a gummy connoisseur.' Kevin tried the M&S Percy Pig phizzy pigtails, but many TikTok users in the comment section of his post said these are the 'wrong' version of the sweet. One user simply stated: 'Wrong percy pigs.' Another added: 'Should have got the original Percy pigs and not the fizzy tails. Original Percy pigs are an elite sweet.' A third exclaimed: 'No not those Percy's! You needed the classic.' A fourth chimed in: 'No one goes to M&S and buys those Percy pigs.' The original M&S Percy Pig sweets are shaped like smiling pig faces and have a distinctive fruity, sweet taste and chewy texture. They offer a blend of raspberry, grape, elderberry, blackcurrant and mandarin flavours. Percy Pig was launched in stores in 1992 and has since become a cultural phenomenon. Since 2019, the recipe has been changed to remove gelatin, making the sweets suitable for vegetarians. In 2022, beeswax was removed from the ingredients list, so they can now be enjoyed by vegans as well. Percy Pig has become a huge brand with 124,000 followers on Instagram and a notable presence on TikTok. Fans have even been inspired to create their own Percy Pig themed bakes as well as Percy-inspired accessories. In 2024, Percy Pig collaborated with Dr Paw Paw to launch a vegan lip oil formula and a signature Percy scent. The brand has also launched a pink nail polish duo set which dries down to release its exclusive scent. In addition to Percy Pig, Kevin also tried Walkers Monster Munch crisps, prawn cocktail crisps, Tunnock's Milk Chocolate Tea Cakes, Jammie Dodgers and a Cadbury Double Decker chocolate bar. He compared the tea cakes to a mallow bar in the US but was confused about why they're called tea cakes and wondered if you're actually supposed to eat them with tea. Despite the confusion, the food reviewer enjoyed all the British snacks he tried and concluded: 'Overall, England, you guys know your snacks. 'I think England might be at the top of the charts of [all] the countries' snack game(s) that I've tried.'
