From Real Madrid to Brazil: Davide follows father Carlo Ancelotti to join Selecao as assistant coach
Brazil's football confederation announced on Friday that Davide Ancelotti had joined his father, Carlo Ancelotti, as an assistant coach for the five-time World Cup champion.
Davide Ancelotti started his career as an assistant coach in 2015, following his father at Napoli, Everton, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Brazil's football body said in a statement that the 35-year-old Davide Ancelotti's arrival 'represents another step in our search for innovation and technical improvements.'
'His international experience and training methodologies will be fundamental for the players' development and for the construction of an even more competitive team,' it said.
Carlo Ancelotti's debut with Brazil at Ecuador on Thursday ended in a 0-0 draw, which kept the team in the fourth place in the South American World Cup qualifying standings. Davide Ancelotti is expected to be on the bench on Tuesday, when Brazil hosts third-place Paraguay.
Davide Ancelotti initially followed in his father's footsteps as a professional footballer at AC Milan's youth team and then at Borgomanero, but he retired at the age 20 to work in management. He holds a degree in sports science.
Davide Ancelotti's coaching career started in 2012 as a fitness coach at Paris Saint-Germain. He had a similar role at Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015. His first assistant manager position came at Bayern Munich in 2016 and then at the other clubs his father managed.

"Even though there is no legal obligation, morally and humanely, the franchise should come forward to support and compensate the victims' families," Surya said.

Harry Kane spared England's blushes with his second-half strike, securing a lackluster 1-0 win against minnows Andorra in Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Barcelona. Thomas Tuchel's side faced boos from England fans at the RCDE Stadium after struggling against a team ranked 173rd in the world. Kane's 72nd international goal saved England from the ultimate embarrassment of not beating such lowly opposition. Tuchel is the first England manager to win his first three competitive games without conceding a goal. However, given the weak opposition of Andorra, Latvia, and Albania in the Group K qualifiers, that achievement seems a bit hollow after this poor display. 'I'm not happy with the performance. ENG vs WI: England's Liam Dawson relishing return from international wilderness
Liam Dawson is determined to make the most of his surprise recall to international duty after believing his England career had come to an end. The 35-year-old left-arm spinner had won just 20 caps across all three formats since making his debut in 2016. He appeared surplus to requirements as England selected a succession of other slow bowlers in red and white-ball cricket, many of whom had inferior county records to Hampshire mainstay Dawson. But he produced a reminder of his quality with four for 20 and a player-of-the-match award as England marked Harry Brook's first T20I as captain with a 21-run win over West Indies at Chester-le-Street on Friday. 'I had got to an age where I probably thought international cricket was gone,' said Dawson after taking his best figures in T20 internationals. 'In my domestic career, I've tried to go out there and just enjoy playing for whoever I'm playing for. It was about going out there and not worrying about playing for England. I think that can hamper you sometimes so I've not really worried about that. I'm at an age now where I know that I'm close to finishing.' Brook gave Dawson the new ball in Durham, a sign of his confidence in the bowler, and perhaps a marker for next year's T20 World Cup on turning pitches in India and Sri Lanka. 'Personally, I think he's been knocking on the door for years to try and solidify that spot and the performance we saw from him was awesome,' said Brook of Dawson. 'Him and Adil Rashid working in tandem at both ends is going be good to watch in the coming years. He can also help the younger lads along the way, to have him in the inner circle when they are bowling is going to help us a lot.' The three-match series continues in Bristol on Sunday before finishing at Dawson's home ground in Southampton on Tuesday. Well though he bowled in Durham, Dawson is taking nothing for granted. 'I know how cricket works, you've got to be consistent and it's only one game,' he said. 'So, I'll park this and go again. It would be nice to play at my home ground, if selected.'
