ESPN anchor Jay Harris makes emotional return after devastating cancer battle

Daily Mail2 days ago
After revealing a shocking cancer diagnosis back in June, a popular ESPN anchor has made his return to television - and received a warm welcome from his colleagues.
Jay Harris, who has been with the company for over two decades, made his return to the 'SportsCenter' desk on Saturday.
Harris recently underwent surgery for prostate cancer last month, which was a successful procedure.
In his first episode back, Harris was welcomed by 'Inside the NBA ' star Charles Barkley, who left a video message for him.
Harris' co-host Brian Custer also welcomed the veteran broadcaster with a dap up on the desk. Custer reportedly served as a major help to Harris after undergoing a similar procedure.
'So glad to be back!! Appreciate all the well wishes!!!' Harris, 60, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Toward the end of June, Harris provided a positive update on his condition.
'My doctor said the surgery went really well – so well, in fact, that the cancer that was in my prostate stayed there,' the 60-year-old married father said in a self-shot social media video.
'Didn't spread to any surrounding areas. So when he took the prostate out, he took that with it. So it's all good.
'There are other details that I won't bore you with. The main thing is, we're all good and looking forward to July 12, getting back to SportsCenter, getting back to work.
'Just home, resting up, chilling,' he continued. 'Appreciate the prayers and the thoughts and the messages and the calls and the deliveries. Thank you so much. Appreciate all the love and I will holler.'
Harris has worked for ESPN since 2003 and has become one of the most recognizable faces on the network since his debut - having hosted 'SportsCenter' as well as 'Outside the Lines', 'NFL Live', 'Baseball Tonight', and 'First Take' in the past.

Starbucks reveals secret menu

Starbucks has finally pulled back the curtain on its new secret menu. The drinks giant unveiled four new drinks on Monday, freshening up its summer offerings. The drinks, which until now had remained a carefully guarded secret, are available on the Starbucks app's 'offers' tab. Starbucks lovers will be delighted that the four drink slots will rotate with new customizations throughout the season, the coffee chain confirmed. The first four new menu items include a blended Refresher, iced tea with popping pearls, cookie crumble-topped coffee, and a chocolate shaken espresso. The cookie crumble selection is a cold brew with two pumps of vanilla syrup, topped with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam and cookie crumbles. The new shaken espresso includes two pumps of white chocolate mocha sauce to an Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso. The drink is then topped off with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam. The latest Refresher flavor is Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade with peach juice, also topped with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam. Finally, fans can get their hands on a blend of black tea and lemonade accompanied by raspberry popping pearls. The secret menu is inspired by customers' own concoctions and fans are encouraged to submit their own customizations. If their beverage combination is selected for inclusion in the secret menu, they will be rewarded with a cash prize. The next round of submissions is now open until July 20. Finalists will receive a $5,000 cash prize and their creations will be available on the secret menu from August 18 to August 25. After consumers have had a chance to trial all the secret menu drinks, a final vote will take place for the best drink. This overall winner will claim a $25,000 grand prize. Starbucks recently announced its biggest hiring spree in history with plans to add 85,000 workers across its 17,000 US locations. The new hires will be expected to support Starbucks' efforts to bring back a more personal touch — including a new policy asking baristas to handwrite notes on customers' cups.

Elmo's X account gets hacked, posts antisemitic and racist messages

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - Hackers broke into the X account of Sesame Street character Elmo and posted antisemitic and racist messages, the makers of the children's TV show said on Monday. The Sunday posts, which have been deleted, called for violence against Jews, insulted President Donald Trump and demanded the release of government files on accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his alleged clientele. Elmo, a cheerful red Muppet, has more than 650,000 followers on X. "Elmo's X account was briefly compromised by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts," Sesame Workshop said in a statement, adding the account has since been secured. X came under scrutiny last week when the account of the Grok chatbot developed by billionaire Elon Musk's company xAI produced content with antisemitic tropes. The posts were subsequently removed and called "inappropriate" by Grok's X account. Since Musk bought what was then known as Twitter in 2022, he has cut back on moderation. Extremist content has increased, causing some advertisers to pull away from the platform.
