Zoe Ball is in 'a good place' after quitting BBC Radio 2 breakfast show
TV presenter Johnny Ball has said his daughter Zoe Ball told him she is in 'such a good place' after quitting her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.
Zoe, 54, left her programme at the end of last year, after being at the helm since 2019.
She is set to return to the station in May to host a new weekly show, from 1pm to 3pm on Saturdays.
Johnny told Saga Magazine: 'Zoe's taken to broadcasting as well as I did – in fact, she's done better than me.
'She's earned considerably more money from it.
'Her mum died last year and she's had various other problems, but she's chuffed to have packed in the Radio 2 breakfast show, as she's realised every day has 24 hours now.
'Her days used to start at 4am and by the time it got to midday she was knackered. She visited me recently and said: 'I'm in such a good place'.'
In November, after Zoe revealed she would be leaving, she announced she had a temporomandibular joint disorder, which affects the movement of the jaw, according to the NHS.
She has said that she wakes up most days with 'awful headaches' due to a health condition which causes pain in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles.
Earlier in the year, she had announced the death of her mother Julia Peckham and said her family were 'bereft'.
She was the BBC's highest-paid on-air female presenter in 2023/24 with a salary between £950,000 and £954,999.

Bobby Brazier is leaving popular BBC soap EastEnders after four years, according to reports. The actor, who is the son of late reality star Jade Goody and former footballer Jeff Brazier, was named runner up of Strictly Come Dancing in 2023. Bobby's departure news comes as Lacey Slater is also taking a break from the soap as Stacey Slater while Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater), Jake Wood (Max Branning) and Max Bowden (Ben Mitchell) return to Albert Square. Newsquest has approached the BBC for comment.

Bobby Brazier to leave EastEnders after two years
Bobby Brazier is leaving EastEnders. The 22-year-old actor- who is the son of late Big Brother legend Jade Goody and her former partner Jeff Brazier - has played the role of Freddie Slater on the BBC One soap opera since 2022 but will depart in scenes set to air later this year. An EastEnders spokeswoman told The Sun: 'We can confirm that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future." An insider explained to the outlet that the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant wanted to leave, so the decision between him and bosses was mutual, but assured fans that he will still be on screen for a little while yet. The source said: "The character has had a great run, but the time is now right for Bobby to look for other opportunities, and for EastEnders to wave goodbye to Freddie Slater."
